    November Nuturing - Week 3

    Good morning Nuturers........

Another week of taking care of ourselves. I for one have already learned alot about myself and appreciate the focus of this month.

Monday's are hard for me. It is so silly, I want to work, need to work, enjoy my work for the most part. I guess it is just the thought that Monday's are the beginning of five days of work.

Papmom, sounds like you had a satisfying weekend, taking care of business!!! I love to get my house in order. We too need to paint, take off old wallpaper. I try to work on one room at a time. In our old house, we kicked but, and staged our house and sold it. It looked so nice it was hard to move. Truly, it sounds like you are doing so much, you will have so many things done within a few months. Painting itself makes the house look so different, new and fresher......it is fun to tackle projects AF.

Dill, I have loved yoga for years, I have a few old books, and just give it a go. So much more gentle than aerobics. My focus this week is again to make healthy choices in food, drink and exercise.

I am going to be checking out the Big Book thread daily, I really love that book, there is so much useful info and I need extra encouragement with the holidays coming up. It will be interesting to engage in discussion, listen and give opinions. I am looking forward to it.

Have a peaceful, productive AF Monday.

Hi Star and all to come

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new
      eyes.
      --Marcel Proust

Today I am learning to think and act in a positive way that is healthy for my mind, body
      and spirit.
      --Ruth Fishel

"The wisest person is not the one who has the fewest failures but the one who turns
      failures to best account."
      --Richard R. Grant

I think the second one really applies to us this November month of nuturing. I have started to do Hatha yoga as part of my meditation course and really enjoy it. I finished my course last week but have been doing something every day so far. Beautiful crisp, frosty morning here and have just had a lovely walk. Having a coffee and going to catch up on all the week-end posts. I have not read the big book but must check out that thread. Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

        November Nuturing - Week 3

        Good Monday Morning Nurturning Friends,

PA-A very belated :bananacomputer:CONGRATULATIONS ON 4 MONTHS AF!. You are such a positive addition to this thread, besides being our Thread Gourmand

Rustop- I like this thread the best: The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes. --Marcel Proust. I like this post because without AL, I have new eyes, and they are sparkly.

Papmom-good for you for decluttering-it makes you feel so alive, doesn't it? I did the same thing last week-although my dear sober-of-10-years friend did the organizing for me. She is the director of housekeeping and facilities management at a university and she puts me to shame-organization is NOT my strong suit. But she thrives on a clean home. She is a wonderful testimony to the AF lifestyle...so full of energy and life. She stuck by me when my drinking was so out of control. In one of my particularly "cheerful" moods, I would call her from a bar....I of course insisted that I was just GREAT, and before I knew it, she would arrive to give me a ride home....which was 45 minutes out of her way. How did I get so lucky to have such wonderful friends?

Star and Dill-I have never tried yoga, but my friend, who is not athletic in the least, bought the book, "Yoga For Dummies" and taught himself. He swears by it as it is his only form of exercise. He has lost 70 pounds-eating right and becoming a yogi.

I am at home today so I have a ton of work and fun activities planned. Rustop, I plan to do only healthy things for my mind and body today, as you said....the nurturing theme.

To everyone else I have missed, have a wonderful AF Monday!

          Morning friends!

Where did all the fog come from? Geez - we had a beautiful weekend here.

Yoga sounds like a good idea right now. I did a little back in the early 70's when I was 9 years old :H

Had fun moving the chicks into their new quarters this weekend. Only about half of them have been brave enough to venture out into the fenced yard so far. I'll have to chase the rest of them out today.

I'm sporting some sort of head cold/sinus infection right now & trying to take care of it naturally. I hate taking antibiotics for this sort of thing. I'll cure myself with a ton of tea

Hope everyone has a fantastic AF Monday. Can't believe the month is half gone already!!

Week 3! Wow time is flying by.... Thanks Star for starting us off, even not working Monday always has that daunting sort of serious feel to it, like all things in life its never as bad as we think I loved your nurturing night! Im a complete sucker for scented baths and clean sheets.... oh how the simple things are the best!

Sooty - Glad its a beautiful day, I hear its been cold and even the Algarve felt frosty early morning.

Rustop like Rusty this is my fav quote,

I cant begin to express how I love my new AF eyes! It was pouring with rain yesterday morning and I sat up in bed with my pot of tea and read back some of my diary entries from last year. I cried my eyes out, who was that girl, how much I wanted to reach out to her and hug her.

Rusty - You are blessed with a wonderful friend but they do say to know a person, check out their friends. I imagine you are a pretty special friend too and I would come pick you up any day.

Lav - Im like you, hate taking any unnecessary medicine, keep with the tea as long as you can.

I had an amazing day yesterday with McLibra man, we spoke on the phone in the morning and I blurted out that it wasnt working out. He came straight over and we talked, he understood everything I was saying about what wasnt right and blamed himself for not being more committed. He is unsure he is ready for a new relationship and feels his holding back is what has given me reservations, and he's right. We then spent the next 11 hours together and with all that said and out the way we were more relaxed than ever before. We took my dog for a long walk on the deserted beach which was just heaven, wind blowing and waves crashing. We stopped off and had coffee and muffins on the way home then I lit the fire and we watched a movie. Then we talked for another 3 hours about life, death, God and a whole lot more.... When he left we hugged and he said he'd had a really beautiful day and loved being with me. So this is the beginning of our friendship and now the ground rules are set we both know where we are....

I hope you make some 'me' time to relax too Rusty.
Ah, Chilli, that sound's just grand. Thing's will go where they will go.
                Good to see you Raven!
The Big book is sure worth a read.

A safe, sober and magical week to all.

Hey all - sorry to be absent for a few days, I had traveled for work over the weekend, and didn't have the computer access that I thought I would.

Wow - such a lot went on since Friday morning! It took me awhile to just get caught up with everyone's stories....
PA - sorry you have to be the firing squad right now, good luck. And thanks for the recipe! SD - I have my prayer rug oriented to the east ready for Thursday (just kidding, you know you'll ace your orals!) How exciting for you. Lav - glad you are Maxie are re-united. Chill - you did more than hug that girl in your diaries, you plucked her out of a downward spiral and gave her a new life - what an example you are. LBH - your post nurtured me...ditto Dill's message - I hope you can post occasionally when you get tired of seeing the world with new eyes (almost literally, in your case!)

Hey kids - the invitation to ask me about organizing/decluttering/etc goes for everyone. It's my profession, and if you need any tips I would be honored to throw some your way! It has been really interesting being my own client as I have decluttered and staged our home for sale. My God, where did all this stuff come from? Just as Red said, we prepared the house by making everything especially gleam-y and spare, and I'm glad we are having a little time to live in it and enjoy it. Good for all of you on your projects!

                  Happy end-of-Monday ---

                        Mornings peeps,

Just saying a quick hello to you all. I have decided not to move to a better location as I am still tied to a contract with my present shop for another year. Will just have to sit still.

I have started the Cambridge diet today. Day one! If any of you know about this diet please let me know.

Have a lovely tuesday my lovelies. x

                          Good Morning Everyone,

It's silly o'clock here in Wisconsin. I woke up at 2:00 a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep so I thought I would get up and get some work done.

Hey Rebirth-I haven't seen you in a while....how are you doing? I think you're making a wise move in not relocating your business until your contract is up. I don't know anything about the Cambridge diet but I've heard about it. If it's like any other diet, they recommend avoiding AL so you'll have no problem in that department.

It will be another lovely day at home for me. Ooh la la!

                          I'll check in later....

Morning everyone, another quick log in from me. Heard yesterday that daughter has interview tomorrow so she and I going to it and from there on to her university town ready for her graduation on Friday. Husband and other daughter driving down Friday.

So I won't be around here till the weekend. I hope everyone is well and happy. I will catch up properly next week

Good morning to all. I just lost another long post, still do not have my computer back. Darn.

Rustop, thanks for the meaningful quote, I too am trying to perceive my world with new eyes. It makes such a difference.

Rusty, I am up early, but you win. I think falling asleep before nine is messing me up.

Chill, loved hearing about your day, what a friendship. I also appreciated your sharing your diaries and the realization of the changes you have made.

Rebirth, so good to hear from you. What is going on besides business? Hope you're doing well.

Lav, feel better and take care of yourself.

                              Have a great AF day
