    November Nuturing - Week 3

    Lavilou!

Congratulations on your soon-to-be- new grandson! Wonderful! Well, you have had experience, so you know what it's like to be spritzed by a little boy!:H

SD-Hey, girl! Congratulations on kicking some serious ass on the orals. :H Um, oh, that sounds kind of weird. Ahem....where is Mr. G? You have worked so hard and I hope you get the rewards you richly deserve! How wonderful that you are so close to your parents...family is so important, isn't it?

Chill-I'm glad your job is going well. It should relieve some of your $$$ burdens.

I'm going to run out of battery power in about 2 minutes but will address everyone soon!

      November Nuturing - Week 3

      Thanks everyone!!

My son also aced his spelling and math test today so WE had pedicures today after school!!:H He thought it was so cool....just laughed and giggled when the gal was rubbing his feet!!! We got to do it at the same time which made it super cool...he didn't any nail polish of course

Sped--I'm sorry your feeling bad...I'd feel totally the same way...pretty hurt....but I really liked how Chill viewed the whole thing...if thet are good friends, they probably were doing it to make sure you were 'comfortable"....again, some people aren't sure how to go about doing that.

Rusty--do we have the same mom????:H My mom is the EXACT same way...only have one glass around only me but if there is ANYONE else around will throw back 3 and sometimes more!??? WTF is right, huh??? But yeah, I know the feeling of wanting to drive right to the store on the way home and jump on in!!! Nerve wracking!!

Lav---I'm not sure I ever congratulated you on your up and coming addition!!! I apologize!!! CONGRATS!!! Another grandson....FUN!!!!!

G-thanks for your kind words...I'm hoping to get out there and enjoy life a bit more (sober)....just not much to do around here...and actually, I'm still very untrusting of myself to go out. I know if I were to drink in public it wouldn't be a problem, that never was the issue...it was driving home, stopping at the store and finishing off the night with a bottle of wine by myself!! I'm fairly certain, I wouldn't just go out and have a couple with friends or colleagues and go home and call it a night....and that sucks!!!! Why can't I just tell myself no after that!! It's almost like that's when the anxiety and anger (is that the right word) kicks in...telling myself NO or that I even have to have that battle in my head time after time!! I agree with you....life has been so much less complicated and more relaxed by just not starting!!

Well I better get to bed!!! I'll catch up with everyone later!!!
      G'd nite!

        November Nuturing - Week 3

        Good morning everyone

Another quick check in from me as I am on chauffeur duty for most of the day. Lav - I think putting a book together is a great idea. This thread has been a mine of information for me over the past 6 months.

Sped - I cant really add much to what the others have already said. Your friends probably had your best interests at heart and are just clumsy. One of the reasons I have not come out in the open about my drink problem in real life is that attitude and the way I know I would be treated. Because friends do not know I have a drink problem it's interesting to hear them speak about people who do, hurtful and very judgemental at times but I guess that is life. Stay strong and share with your MWO friends, we know what you are going through and are there to support you. Hubby is a US citizen and has a sister and brother there so we visit fairly frequently. His sister lives in Indianapolis and his brother in San Francisco. Have not been there yet but it is on my list.

Everyone else big hello and have a great Saturday.

I am up way too early, 4 a.m., so do have time to visit and lurk on MWO.

Sped, that is too much work that they would take the time to move all the booze in the house. I could see being hurt and irritated. In a way, it is kind of funny, what did they think you would do, drink every bottle of wine in the house? You are an adult, if you want alcohol, you can easily purchase some. That to me is the odd part. Having put in my two cents, they do care about you to go to all that trouble. My experience with friends is that sometimes they do things that hurt and irritate me, but they are still my friends. I know I do things that must irritate them, too. However, intention is important too, and it seems that their intention is good. That is so kind of you to watch their doggie. I agree, talk to them and see what is up. You are all good people and it would be sad to end something without talking it through.

SD, so happy you got through your exams and feel confident they went well. What a relief!!!!! You are free!!!! Going for pedicures is a cool way to celebrate.

Some thoughts on telling others about efforts to be AF. I don't except for my husband. People do not always keep things to themselves, and it is just personal business, as far as I am concerned. My brother and I have talked about both our drinking, family pattern, etc., but I have not shared MWO or anything.

I am planning the Thanksgiving meal and bought my turkey yesterday for a good price. I love a good deal. Today, out and about getting everything else. What fun. Thanksgiving is great because it is food, family, football and fun. No presents, no stress.

Left work early yesterday and came home and cleaned up a bit. Today will continue cleaning, laundry, and shopping. Tonight, out with hubby to see a play.

Chill, keep up the good mood, I can feel your positive vibes across the sea.

Rustop, Rusty, Lav, Dill, LBH, G, PAguy, and to all have a great AF Saturday.

            Good morning guys

Star - you are certainly up at silly o'clock today!

I'm being indulgent and still in bed at 10am, unheard of for me and part or my nurturing.
I have so many simple things to be grateful for today and have a lovely sat/sun planned. We have a charity christmas fayre today in our local square and the whole community turns out. I will know everyone so it's unique atmosphere. Last year I had started on the wine at lunchtime and the day ended in the usual mess. Not this year! Tonight I'm looking forward to a quiet night home by the fire and tomorrow I have arranged to spend the day with my new found friend McLibra man who has dusted down his bike and is going to let me take him cycling!

Wishing you all a wonderful AF Saturday......

                November Nuturing - Week 3

Hello I'm back. Had a fab time, spent loads of money, laughed and laughed with my daughters friends - who are all absolutely lovely.

Graduation was a very moving and sincere ceremony and I was so proud. Got back late last night so trying to catch up with stuff. Only left Mr S on his own for 2 days (he drove down for the graduation yesterday) and the house is a right old mess!

The sun is shining though and its quite mild so lots to smile about today.

                Missed you all lots
                love Sooty

Are you home Rusty? Hope you have a weekend free to do what you want!!

                    Rustop-busy woman as usual!!

SPED-I echo what everyone else said. I just have one other question: Is there any possible way they too have decided to go AF and they cleaned the house of booze for them? Just wondering. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. It won't be easy but you must do what is the best thing for you!!

Hi Star-have fun at the play. I bet Turkey day will be yummy at your house! Sounds like fun!!

                    Hi Mr. G!!

OK, that's it for now. Will check in later if not too busy at work.

                      November Nuturing - Week 3

Thanks everybody for the responses and support. I did end up calling my friend and letting her know I was upset. Probably not the best idea but it's done. She told me a mutual friend of ours had suggested that they remove the booze. I used to go to AA meetings with this mutual friend's daughter. Feel like the talk of the town, a very small town.
Spent the night with the doggie. I am not a dog person mainly because I haven't been around dogs since childhood. This dog seems to have great affection for me, always sitting in my lap gazing lovingly at me.
Husband leaves today for a conference and Thanksgiving in California. As always looking forward to having the house to myself. My house/dog sitting gig is over tomorrow. My sister comes on Tuesday for Thanksgiving.
Let's all have a good Saturday. I love you guys!

                              Hey Gang!

Back from my Day Out With Thomas trip woo hoo! It was fun & EB was totally amazed
He was very, very good, no melt-downs We stopped for lunch afterwards & then headed for home. Even YB was well behaved :H He installed a flood light for me in the chicken yard before he left, I'm happy about that.

Shelley, glad you are OK. Sorry your friend acted the way she did. I'd forget about it & them for that matter. Thanksgiving with your sister sounds nice!

Papmom, the working woman! How you get some 'Me' time this weekend.

Chill, my big dog Maxie likes to show her love by sitting on my feet! I can't let her do it though because after a few minutes her near 100 lb. body puts my feet to sleep!!!!

Greetings to everyone & wishes for a wonderful AF day!
I'm going to sit for a bit......MiMom is tired!

Talking of dogs Papmom and particularly Australian ones, the record for the longest living dog is held by an Australian Cattle Dog (which Mr G thinks my Elle looks a bit like) aged 29.5 years!! If that's not an advert for going down under I don't know what is
