    November Nurturing - Week 4

Hey rustop. I didnt know you live in Ireland? Or am I reading that wrong?

Star- My family and I made a pact years ago to not to buy presents for christmas. Makes life alot easier! Only little children get presents and the grown ups just enjoy being together. I will be pigging out christmas day thats for sure. No dieting on that day!

Dill - Remembering my hangovers works for me. I have not had a hangover for nearly six months and I dont miss them. They use to be excruciating! Even when I slipped early in the month, I made sure that I didnt over do it. The times when I couldnt move from my sofa...No thanks

      GM friends!

I am not bloated this morning- not really :H
Thanksgiving dinner was nice yesterday but I have to admit, I was the first one to leave. My son's house is so small there is no where to go if you want to get away from someone - if you know what I mean. My spouse did exactly as I predicted. He showed up at the very last minute with a plastic smile on his face, acting as if nothing was wrong or different. I was happy to remove myself early.

Dill & Star, glad to hear your family dinners went well

Greetings to Rustop & rebirth. No one in this country will be getting on a scale today rebirth - congrats on your weight loss success.
Greetings to everyone who stops in today.

Wishing everyone a terrific AF Friday, NO, I did not get up at 3 am for Black Friday shopping :H

Dill, Rusty, Lav, Rusty, Rustop, Paguy, P3, Cyn, LBH (can't believe your guest doesn't know the basic courtesy of bringing a bottle of wine to the host/hostess......duh)...., Mr. G. Sped, S.D. Raven, Bear, Sooty, Rebirth - hope I haven't missed anyone.......

Just want to say hello to you all - have missed chatting with you guys. Dill, your story is lovely - I have the vision of your silouette sans bottle and how proud you felt seeing yourself in that way, knowing you'd broken out of the alcohol trap..........happy for you!

Chill, hope your job is going well and that this time of year isn't making it too difficult on you with the ex - I know you're still tied to him and that he's struggling financially.

Sped - I can see how you feel "less than" because of the removal of the alcohol. I would feel the same way - that I was being treated as an out-of-control drunk. But, I guess somehow your sister didn't want to be indirectly responsible for your drinking -----that's a tough one!

RB - good for you on your new way of eating - my first 45 days AF I had outrageous sugar cravings. They have now subsided, thankfully. When I was indulging myself with crap, there wasn't enough "space" left for good food, which as we all know is a big mistake in more ways than one!

Star - I decided a long time ago not to partake of the insanity that hits here with Black Friday. I really hate the commercialism of this time of year and just steer completely clear. We have stopped buying presents for each other at Christmas - it's just so arbitrary and meaningless. But, I know a lot of people get pleasure from it - especially those with kids. It just seems that the original meaning has been completely lost (in the big scheme of things).

Just wanted to close saying that I did not drink yesterday at my sister's house when everyone else was partaking. I was kind of bored, but ok - not tempted, really. Felling (like Dill) so happy that I didn't do that to myself. It really is better this way!

        My best to you all.

        Hugs,
        Choochie

My My! Where is everyone?? Are you all out trying to score on those Black Friday deals??

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my family and a wonderful Birthday celebration too! The food was amazing and my family was very generous with me. Let's just say I am totally ready for the winter and walking the dogs/jogging as well as outfitted for Planet Fitness! I'm also all set for my next 6 weeks of agility classes! My sister also snuck in a new cookbook (She is the eternal optimist!!) and this one looks like even I can handle it!! It's called Fresh Food Fast by Cooking Light and it features recipes with 5 ingredients and 15 min of prep. And most of them sure look yummy!! I'll be sure to regale you all with my first attempt!!

Today was great. I had my training session at PF for the 30 min express circuit. After that I did the Elliptical for 20 min and it kicked my arse! I've never tried that machine before and wasn't sure I could do 20 min but I did and my heart rate was right where it needed to be. Could be my new fav machine! I went back afterwards and redid the circuit as I only did a few reps during the training. Man was it hard!! I am sure I will have a ton of trouble getting out of bed tomorrow for my 7:30 am Weight Watchers meeting!! After that it's off to the dog and agility shows and Sunday out to Western MA for shopping in Northampton (home to Smith College) and a lobster dinner at my brother's house. What a fun weekend!! It won't be so much fun showing up for my nutrition appointment at 8am on Monday tho!! I'm sure I gained the 6 lbs I lost at my last appt!! Oh well, now I'm beginning weight watchers and a regular schedule of working out so it should be all good.
Have a great nite/day all and I'll see you later tonite to catch up with everyone!!

Hey, Papmom, glad you had a good Thanksgiving! It sounds like you are planning on being very fit this winter! I was going to go look at your blog today but when I went to one of your posts to find the link in the signature line (where I thought it was) it wasn't there. Could you post it again sometime?

Choochie, good to see you, and I'm glad you were AF for Thanksgiving. It's great to remember the day, isn't it?

Lav, glad you didn't over eat. I didn't either. I gave that up a long time ago. I hate the feeling of being stuffed and bloated. I do my best to stop before I reach that point. It sounds like it was uncomfortable being around YB yesterday. Understandable though.

              Well, good evening to all.

                Greetings sister Dill & Papmom!

I spent the afternoon baking cookies, will do more tomorrow. There is a big dual birthday party Sunday. My grandson turns 2 & my son doesn't know it but it is also a surprise party for him! I ordered a big cake this morning for the adults & figured the kids can pig out on cookies
The event will be at my son's house again so I'm taking food, of course. Lucky me - this will be the 2nd time getting stuck in a small space with YB. I wish he'd just not go but I can't control that, can I?

Papmom, sounds like you have a great family, that's so nice! Glad you enjoyed your BD too

OK, time to veg out in front of some mindless TV.

Hi Dill-here you go: Agility Fool
I haven't posted anything new since I started it. Need to come up with a topic since I'm not competing for a while but if you haven't seen it yet I think you'll be entertained!! I took the link down because in another thread there was suspicion that the powers to be would ban any user who linked to commercial sites. Since I have google ads on my site I figured it would be prudent not to include it in my siggy anymore.

Thanks Lav-I do have a nice family although for some odd reason my sis didn't send any of us home with leftovers!! Very wierd and unusual! She alluded to it in an email today and said something about being selfish. Hmmmm. wierd. All in all tho everyone is very loving and giving and I'm glad to be a part of it, especially sober!!

                    November Nurturing - Week 4

                    Hello Folks:

Returned home this afternoon and we had a very nice Thanksgiving celebration. The time seems to go so quickly after all the preparations! All of the food was great, I did not overeat and I wasn't even tempted to drink alcohol. Best of all, I got to see my grand-nephew for the 2nd time - he is 18 months old and is cute as a button.

Our drive was 120 miles each way and thankfully, traffic was not bad at all. I guess we left at the right times as the news reports showed traffic backed up for 20+ miles along the East coast. That would have been dreadful to have been caught up in all of that.

Star - we will probably put up our Christmas tree on Sunday. I have collected so many tree ornaments over the years and I really enjoy decorating the tree - it's like a trip down memory lane which I enjoy.

Dill - great story about your silhouette. You sound so strong and at peace with where you are now. It is a great feeling waking up and having no regrets about the previous day, isn't it?

Lav - you are showing amazing strength keeping it together for your family despite the shortcomings of YB - I admire you for that.

I am looking forward to the weekend. I refuse to get caught up in all of the materialism of the Christmas season so I will not be setting foot into any of the malls. I'll be going to the gym tomorrow and on Sunday we'll be decorating the house. I think I'll make a turkey dinner just for the 2 of us on Sunday. It will be nice to smell the turkey roasting in the oven while we are decorating the house. Since I didn't cook the turkey yesterday, I feel like I need to roast one this weekend!

Hope you all have a nice Friday evening... will be cathching up more over the weekend....

Hey John-welcome back!! I like your idea of roasting a turkey while you put up the decorations! If I can find a small one I might do that next week sometime just cuz we didnt' get any leftovers this year (what's up with that?) and I had such a small helping last nite as I didn't want to overeat. I feel like I want a thanksgiving dinner all over again!! And I just might do it too!!
I was going to get the decorations down from the attic today but then I thought what's the use? I have no reason to be in the living room where they would be put up as I have no TV or fireplace. I've been spending all my time in the bedroom with the one working TV since I cancelled Cable. Then I started feeling really deprived and really bad about spending the whole winter in my bedroom so went "shopping" on line for new service. Cable is out-too expensive. Direct TV has a good deal for a year (second year of the contract will be expensive!) so I decided to sign up even tho I really shouldn't. More motivation to get the ebay store up and running!! They're coming next Sunday (how about that?) and I'm very excited! I'll be getting at least 2 channels I never had with cable that I always wanted. I think next Sunday I will pull down the decorations and make a day out of it. Now I can live in my whole house again!!

Hey all, hope everyone had a decent Thanksgiving.

Dill, your Thanksgiving sounded wonderful. Having your family together. It's hard to have the kids far away. Know your daughter's in NO. Is your son nearby?

LBH, you are killing me!!!..sprouted corn enchieladas, cilantro pesto, acorn squash with clementines...I'm dying. Sounds so delicious. Recipe books?? Where is this stuff coming from?

Star, am understanding about the materialism going on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The thought of people staying up from 3 AM the night before in order to buy an IPOD or big screen TV. Makes you really wonder what peoples' priorities are all about.

Lav, sorry about your YB situation. How long have you been married? Think it must be about like me, 30 years though think you've got longer than that on me. It must be hard to have to show up at family functions with him and act like everything's okay. Feel like you and I are in the same boat. Long time marriage and inexplicable/confusing relationship.

I am starving. Breakfast for dinner. Does anyone know egg in a hole, my Alabama mother called it egg on the mountain. Bread with hole in it, fried egg, get my drift??
                        Love to all. Shelley

My mother grew up on a farm in New Jersey and she called this 'Egg in a Nest'... This was one of my favorite breaskfasts when I was growing up!

                            Shelley,

We certainly are in the same boat! I've been married 37 years & haven been confused the entire time :H:H
There is no obvious reason for YB's behavior, no explanation. I think when you've spent your entire life lying to yourself & everyone else - it's going to bite you in the butt sooner or later. I believe he's seriously confused right now, doesn't know what to do so he's hiding. The whole thing is painfully ridiculous!

I remember the egg in a hole Childhood memories.......
You need to eat a few of them to fill you up!

I'm hoping for some better sleep tonight - the last few nights have not been fabulous.

Papmom, I had Direct TV the first year here in this house but it didn't work well. We begged a cable co. to string some cable down our road & we switched over (so did all the neighbors). I broke the 2 year contract just to get rid of it. I hope you have better luck. Do any of your neigbors have Direct TV? Try talking to them.....you never know.
My daughter was born in Jan. 1977 - we had our very first Cable installed a couple of months before that. I was SO grateful for cable TV - it kept me company during those long nights sitting up with a cranky infant. That's almost 34 years ago :H

John, glad you enjoyed your family holiday. When you finish setting up your tree would you mind coming over & helping me with mine??? I have no idea how I'm going to handle that, oh boy!

                            Good night all!

I'm here Lav - good morning all and happy Saturday. I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself cos I've got a stomach bug and keep running to the loo all the time, so I'm sitting here, nursing a wheat bag (remember them?) and sipping a peppermint tea. Never mind it will pass and I'll be up and at em soon!

Have we decided on a December name yet? I can't believe its December on the next humpday. My favourite uncle will be 85 bless him!
