One thing is for sure...I CANNOT afford to kill any more brain cells!
Chief, I was thinking about you this morning during my workout. Dont' ask me why. And not in a _________ way either - that is reserved for Johnny Depp! :h But anyway, one thing that has been priceless to me in my sober journey is to get connected and STAY connected to other sober people. I do it here and I do it at AA. Since you mentioned Rational Recovery on another thread, I will just say that for me, it hasn't worked that way. Trying to just decide not to drink and "just do it" didn't work. (doesn't mean it won't work for others - just didn't work for me). I have finally accepted that I need to be connected with others in recovery to stay in recovery myself. I think there are a variety of ways to do that. For me, even my volunteer work at the Mission keeps me connected because so many in their programs are either alcoholic / addicts themselves or their lives have been affected severely by alcohol and/or drug abuse.
Anyway...I'm not even sure exactly why I felt compelled to say that, but there you have it. What comes to mind when I'm sweating just can't be ignored. :nutso:
LVT, I hope the consultation goes well with you son. Good that you are exploring things that might lead to improvements for him. I don't know how you parents do it.
Lav, you probably would have had as much fun as me doing it! The organization whose party this was is a membership group of local independently owned businesses. If you lived in my town you could be a member, and you could have played my twin sister Angela. Even though we were "identical twins" according to the story, she was blond and I am brunette. So in addition to accusing each other of being drunks all night, we also accused each other of the drapes not matching the carpet. :H Could have been you and me having all that fun!!!
Well, off to the showers and then working womens lunch and family center volunteering. I love my sober life and that's why one thing is for sure....
