    Wakey wakey!!

A goat!!! What the hey? This morning I went to turn on water for the bath and there was a turkey in the tub. Am I in the running for "unusual animal encounters"? I just forgot he was in there in a cooler of water thawing. I wish I had not said I would smoke a turkey and bring it. My car is SO little, every bit of space counts. I think I'll carve it and leave the carcass here for soup when I get back. Soup with smoked turkey carcass is killer!

The interview seemed fine yesterday. It's the "wait-and-see" plan again. If I make the cut I will interview with the boss (who is on vacation) next week.

Loose ends to tie up today. One thing is for sure........ it STILL amazes me how I ever had time to drink.

    Have a titillating tuesday!

Yikes Greenie, I thought you meant a live turkey. :H:H:H I'm glad the interview went well. THAT would be a nice xmas present!

Snow here, finally, but so cold it's very light and "blow-y." Still, my kids had brief fantasies of a snow day. Not happening (thank God, says Mom).

Lots going on, like everyone else here(!), but following my hypno-CD advice: breathe in deeply, hold for 4, let out slowly counting down from 8. Pass it on!

BB, the dad sleepover went okay? DG, ditto on the in-law visit? Chief, hanging in there? It takes a lot of guts, IMHO, to take the sober plunge again, right before the holidays. :thumbsup

AFM, so glad you're feeling more peaceful.:l

Lots of happy holiday mojo to fabbies yet to come,

    xoxo Pride

      Morning Greenie, Pride & everyone,

Good luck with the job Greenie. When are you off for Christmas? I'm working tomorrow and Thursday and am booked on a train to my parents on Friday morning. Hopefully there won't be any problems but at the moment there are huge travel disruptions because of the weather at airports and train stations. Lots of people have been stuck at Heathrow airport since Sunday waiting for endlessly delayed flights and are having to sleep on the floor.
Snow is still on the ground in London but it's starting to thaw a little.

Pride - are your kids still at school? When do they break up for Christmas?

I'm feeling a bit antsy about Christmas - the usual stuff - and this year it's all underlined by mum's illness but I'm sure I'll feel better when I'm there with her.

I'll be going to an AA meting tonight to bolster my defences for the time of year and because I'll be spending a week with people who drink a lot.

AFM - good to hear you're spending as much time as you can with your dad. That must be comforting for both of you.

        Hi Fabbies,

Goats and turkeys, eh! Nothing half that exotic over here.

Glad to hear you're feeling more peaceful, AFM.

Marshy, the endless travel chaos is getting a bit old. I'd think the trains would run by Friday but maybe with delays. I'm supposed to fly off tomorrow. Luckily I'm booked out of London City rather than Heathrow. Still, it's likely to be a long day.

I've been singing Christmas carols every day since Saturday - lovely!

        Have a good one everybody.

          Morning abbers,

I thought you meant a live turkey too Greeny! LOL

I had a day wrought with anxiety yesterday - not sure why but it was pretty crappy. My one therapy appointment was filled up with doing the paperwork for my Long term disability. I go to the family doctor today to do her part and then off it goes and I will stop worrying about it because I will have done all I can do.

I think little Universal and I will go get our nails done today. She has hockey tonight and my appoitnment is right in the middle of the day so it'll be a pretty crazy all over the place kind of day. Thank god I'm done orgainizing for Christmas. I just have to buy a frozen lasagna and some stocking stuffers and I am done. It will be nice to be able to relax a bit for the next couple of days.

I hope everyone else has a good one - one thing is for sure.
Every day is a day to start over and remember that I am powerless over my addiction. I will no longer give the BEAST any power over me - he can go straight to hell.

            Good mid-morning Abbers!

Stayed up until after 2 am to see a bit of the lunar eclipse, interesting!

Wow, a turkey in the bathtub certainly puts you in the running for the odd sightings prize Greenie!

I have quite a bit to do today & am getting a late start.
            I'll check in later tonight.

              Good Morning Everyone!
Okay....okay....Had to change the signature.....I caved in last night. And PLEASE, nobody write, "It's okay. Hang in there." Etc. etc. etc. Not looking for sympathy over it or "support" God I sound bitchy! Please don't take it that way. It happened. It's done. It's a new day. And the hangover I'm suffering will remind me of it. I Used to drink on such a regular basis that I didn't get hangovers. NOT the case this morning. My body (or rather head) is trying to find out where this poisioness toxin came from. And am I loading up on H20? Nooooooooo! It's a Monster Energy Drink. But I'll drink lots of water after that. So enough about that!
Greenie, I'm w/ Pride and Uni....I TOTALLY thought that you meant live turkey. And I wasn't around for the goat story, so I'll have to look back on the last 2 day's posts.
Marshy, your travel dilemmas are big news here in The States. People in London don't look happy. They're printing stories of all the people that are turning angry and bitter over the problem. In my opinion (being that I'm in the travel industry), I understand people getting frustrated over the whole thing. But if they want to yell at someone, rather than yell at the people who work there, point their lil' fingers up at the sky and scream at Mother Nature. London's not used to this kind of snowfall. It's unusual. Why would they be prepared? On a yearly basis, they don't have to deal with this type of weather. We had the same issue in Seattle, WA last year: Airport shut down, snow plows weren't available, etc. etc. The city is not used to getting snowed in. Okay, enough rambling!
Lots to do today. Getting a sitter for the kids so I can wrap up my shopping.
Everyone have a fantastic day!!!! And kuddos to you all!

                  Good afternoon everyone!

Greenie, I thought you meant a live turkey. Hah! I would believe anything happening anymore.

My little goddess is having a really great time with her Dad, and I'm very happy over that. I talked to them both this morning and they're both happy, doing lots of shopping together and eating and it's nice to hear them both happy and laughing. She'll be home around dinner time today, so I can't wait to see what she got for Christmas. She will be sooo excited!

GAC, the last time I drank it did not agree with my body at all..and this was not the last time I just had the two glasses or red, the time before that. I was really hungover, I got sick and felt just horrible. My body seems not to be able to handle AL anymore and I'm happy about that. My tolerance has dropped down to almost nothing and I'm assuming that's a good sign. Time to give yourself a mental kick in the ass and get back on the horse. Quitting around Christmas is harder, but not a whole lot harder then any other time, it's just giving people a good excuse to drink during the day because 'It's Christmas!'. I dropped presents off at my Aunts house today and she asked if I wanted a glass of rum and coke since my mother could drive, I just laughed and said 'No thanks Auntie'. Last year I would have had a few before I left her house..and I did last year. But, a new year and a new me.

GAC - onwards and upwards! Re the travel disruption: most of the problem seems to be that a lot of the flights haven't been cancelled, they are just being endlessly delayed. So people are told the flight is delayed for eight hours, so they hang around at the airport, then they're told it's delayed for another eight hours and they hang around some more etc. If they were told "come back in three days" a lot of people would be able to go home to wait or go to a hotel but they seem to be being left in limbo with very little information being given out. That's what they're annoyed about, not the fact that it snowed.

Pamina - City airport seems to have escaped quite lightly. I hope it's running smoothly for you tomorrow. I never think about flying from there but it makes a lot of sense. XNGF is flying back into City after new year and I just have to take a bus and the DLR to meet her rather than schlepping out to Heathrow/Gatwick.

BB - good news about your daughter and her dad having a great time after all your worries!

Work done, errands done (no goat sightings today). Now I'm ready to light up the fireplace & kick back for a while.

Phew, I 'm whipped! I'm going to do the same thing, Lav. With a big pitcher of water. There is a blood drive tomorrow so I've got to tank up on the good stuff. Protein powder and all that.

                            Greetings all,

                            Great stuff Chief!

Hey Greenie, i'm reasonably energetic, but i reckon my 3 long drives to and from work per week take it out of me a bit. Any diet/nutrition etc idea's? More protein? Just thought you might have a couple of idea's, even herbal stuff?
