Christmas Eve! I'm so excited. This will be my 3rd AF Christmas Eve!

Sorry I haven't been on recently, but it's just such a busy time of year with all the baking, cleaning, shopping, wrapping and social events. I have been thinking of you all and have been reading the thread when I can to keep current.

I woke up this morning feeling almost as excited as a child on Christmas Eve. I think it is because I know I will be AF tonight and will be able to enjoy everything and remember it the next day. Most people get to take that for granted. But for us, well, we know the value it holds.

Welcome home, LBH!

Last night I went to a wonderful Christmas party and had sparkling water in a lovely holiday glass. No problems being AF and no feelings of deprivation. My sober friend and her AF husband had a full bar, as my friend's family is full of big drinkers. It amazes me that she can have that much booze in her house all the time and not be tempted.

Dewdrop, you will 4 months AF time tomorrow! Good for you!

Happy Christmas Eve
Thanks for remembering to move us to week 4 Dill - I guess none of us have been paying attention.

Cold, windy but dry here. There is a slight possibility of a coastal storm Sunday night into Monday bringing snow - we'll see.

Well, I will be spending the day in the kitchen but that's OK. I happy to do that for my family.
I hope everyone has a magical AF Christmas Eve. There will be no drinking here today

This will be my 1st and I have had niggling thoughts about tomorrow which of course I wont act upon but it annoys me they are even there.

Rusty - Isnt it great to leave a party with a clear head, I used to only vaguely remember leaving such events and the next day would be a right off. NOT ANY MORE!

Lav - Its a bit chillier here today but bright sunshine and im off to tire out my dog and get some fresh air.

Great to see you! I loved your Christmas pic! Your fire looks so inviting, and I liked how you strung your lights around your fireplace. I hope it goes well for you tonight and tomorrow with Mr. NotMcDreamy. Aren't relationships complicated? One person has romantic feelings for the other and the feeling isn't mutual. :-( I'm sure you'll work it out, though...especially AF. Good job on your first AF Christmas! Enjoy the walk with your dog and I'll check in later.

Hi Guys - MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Just had the perfect evening, met some close girl friends for a early drink in our local which was filled with the expat community and had a wonderful atmosphere with us singing along to Christmas songs. Then came home and McLittle-bit-dreamy came over and we snuggled up in front of the fire and watch Miracle on 34th Street. He bought me a fab coffee machine for my Christmas. He's gone home now and I need to get to sleep as its late and he is coming back over in the morning for brunch.....

Oh how different this is to my sorry lonely state last year when I was counting the bottles I still needed to drink before my quit date :nutso:

My kids just left at 9:15, I'm pooped but happy! Our dinner was great, very relaxed.
EB was thrilled with his gifts & is now a pro at tearing off wrapping paper having just had his BD last month :H
Looks like I may not be stuck sitting by myself tomorrow afterall. My son is on his 24 hr shift now which will end at 7 am, is staying for some OT hours but plans to be back in the area by dinner time. So I will haul out today's leftovers & do it all again

Lav I'm so glad you won't be alone tomorrow but just wanted to let you know that a short 6 hours away is another place at the table tomorrow just for you!! Hope you got pics of the kids opening their gifts!!

Chill-your evening sounded fab!! What a nice thoughtful gift from Mr. LittlebitMcDreamy! Those are the little luxories we won't buy for ourselves but make life so much richer! Have fun tomorrow at brunch and on your beach walk!

I want to wish all my Determined to end the Year on a great AF note friends a wonderful day tomorrow (Mr G-your christmas has come and gone already! Hope you had a great time!!)! What a fabulous year this had been all in all. And I'm so happy to have shared most of it with all of you!

Hi troops. I have been flying around like a leaf in a gale all week. My dinner guests have now departed and the dishes are done. A fine party, sweet music evocative of winter, great food, and conversations that did not get overly witty and contrived. In washing up, I had forgotten how awful red wine residue looks; perhaps I never had such a thing as leftovers, licked that crystal clean like a puppy or was too ?relaxed? to notice. The glasses that contained cider were still sweet. I wish you each a fine winter?s night, if you celebrate Christmas a merry one. I have to bring a first course to a party tomorrow and then I am done with promises. I am looking forward to letting a quiet January break over me like a clean, fresh wave. Love, Ladybird.

Liked all of todays readings so thought I would share them with you all. Woke up at 5.30 and could not get back to sleep so got up and did all my chores, fires etc. and have the turkey ready to pop into the oven.

18.00 hrs. Christmas day here P3, so still going. Had a nice one. Worked, and i've got a bit of a fever hanging 'round, but all good. Saw mum and a few of the family, and another get together boxing day night. (after work for me)
