Jubilant January ~ Week 1

Paguy, I meant to thank you for the passage you posted from the novel you are reading. There was something about how it was put that really resonated with me, too. I don't think I had consciously thought of my drinking that way but the passage brought it to light for me. I reflected on it quite a bit last evening and will continue to do so.

Jubilant January ~ Week 1

OK, me for one am so ready for the holidays to be over!! Drove a bunch of youngins downtown last night for their NYE's revelries. Heard them come in around 2:30 and now they asleep in various places in the house, couches, space bedroom. I'm exaggerating. There are only 4 of them but at some point, I want to be alone!!

Chill, happy anniversary , loved your summary and your poem. I think it's time to cut McLibra loose. I doubt at this point it's going to blossom into love. And you should maybe think about his expectations. Does he think you are going to come around and be madly in love with him? Hard place, girl.
Oh and thanks for the astanga yoga recommendation. I've had that recommended before as I am such a moving-a-lot type. And tree pose, seriourly how long can you hold it? For me it's about 15 seconds.

Sorry, interrupted and know I will lose this if not sent.

My Life, I too woke up too fireworks at 12:10. Appreciated them and promptly went back to zzzz.

LBH, your contact lens, it's either God or someone from Roswell. (insider NM joke).

Pay,
Loved your passage from Alice Hoffman. She has been a favorite read of mine for a while. Plus the passage was just perfect for a new years resolution kind of day.

Pap, you are moving? Somewhere south, warm?

Cyn, Desk Set is one of my favorite movies. And playing Scrabble with certain people is just damned humiliating. I make words like "get" and "not". That vertical/horizontal thing always escapes me. We are playing Clue this afternoon; too many Monopoly losses to the economist.

SD, good to hear from you. Did you and your son have a good holiday?

Star, I have always wanted to try Zumba, as I love to dance and work out.

Dill, I loved working for Habitat for Humanity because they taught me how to do things like paint ceilings and lay wooden floors!

Rusty, Grey Goose is vodka? You keep it in your freezer? I don't think that would work for this alcoholic.

Rustop, hope your girls are better behaved on NYE behaved than my sons!

Mr. G. Good tunes to you. Guess I totally disagree with we are never alone; feel like we are always basically in our minds, alone. Not necessarily in a bad way.

Lav, chickens with hats!! I'm there. And anticipated grandbabies DOB's??

Dew, Sooty, hope you've got some warmer weather.
Payguy's copycat avatar, HNY Is it mg75?

Hope I got everyone, if I missed you , love from me and all these hung over 20 somethings.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Chill--:yougo::yougo: CONGRATS on a FABULOUS YEAR!!!!! I can't even imagine what an amazing feeling you must have had when you woke up today!! Way to go!!! I loved your poem!! It really spoke to me...perhaps, if you don't mind, I'll copy it and put it in my journal that I want to start writing in this year!!

Lav--I too fell asleep...saw the ball drop in NY but couldn't make it until midnight our time....and as for fireworks...we were still having a blizzard and the whole town was shut down anyway...no fireworks here!

Dill--Thanks for getting this year and this thread kicked off...great reading!! When do you head back to school? I can't believe we already go back on Monday! Went WAY to fast!! But getting back into my routine will be a good thing!

Star--you sound great!! ALso...I got a Zumba 'game'/workout for the wii from Santa!! I can't wait to get started!! It's like the biggest thing around here as far as working out goes! Looks like fun!!

Sped--My son and I had a great Christmas!! At my mom's we always have a theme we do each year...like ugliest sweaters, craziest hats....well this year was Christmas Characters (from songs, movies, books...anything)....so Brayden and I dressed up and Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog and sang the 12 days of Christmas done by John Denver and the Muppets....kicker was HE was Miss Piggy and I was Kermit!!!!! He wore a red dress and everything!!! He says to me "You owe me BIG time!" But we won this year, hands down!! We then went to my dad's which was fine...a little awkward...but it helped that we were staying in a hotel and when we were with each other there were a lot of people around. The main focus wasn't really me....my brother in law was a real a$$ the entire holiday...if he wasn't wasted, he was pouting or laying on the couch nursing a hangover! VERY RUDE!!

LBH--that was a crazy story about your contact!!! But thank goodness you found it!! I hear it's "cold" :H in Phoenix right now!! It only feels like negative 30 or so here today! heehee...

Rusty--no need to worry about this girl...I'm pretty tough I may fall, get tripped up or knocked down but I don't stay down...I get right back up, dust myself off and away we go!! I'm going to rock 2011~~I just know it!!

Welcome my life and 72....was there someone else??? I'm so sorry??? Looking forward to the 2011 journey with you!!

To everyone else I missed...big hugs and a very Happy New Year to each of you!!! Paguy, Pap3, Rustop, Sooty, Dew, Mr. G, Cyn, RB...et al!!!! :l

Jubilant January ~ Week 1

What a wonderful busy and jubilant thread!!!

Star - your positive energy oozed from your post today! Its such a true saying that "when we change our thinking, nothing actually changes but everything is different."

I see we had lots of sleepheads last night, I think its wonderful that we were all relaxed and unphased with the need to party.
Next New Year lets organize a proper MWO slumber party!

Papmom - Forget the poem, I want Mr G to write me a love song :h

Paguy, Rusty and Dill - I agree that "dead man walking' is a perfect description of our drinking days. All the feelings on the inside were numbed out.

Sped - you sound in good spirits and as if you are bubbling with energy for new things! Let me know if you find an astanga class, I will be very jealous!
I havent timed myself in tree pose but could probably hold it for about 3/4 minutes.

SD - I was given a journal as a present, lets see how long I can keep it up.

Dill - This sums up my feelings exactly!

I had a lovely afternoon with 3 girlfriends and our dogs at the beach,
the fire is now lit and I will be enjoying a relaxing end to 1.1.11......... isnt this date just SOOO cool!

I had to make an executive decision.........

Start the new year off right with a healthy meal or start the new year off with something that tastes GOOD

I now have a big pot of meatballs & sausage simmering on the stove

John, I made them in honor of my very good friend from South Philly.......she taught me the right way & my grandson absolutely loves meatballs :H

Did you get to the Mummers Parade??

Oh, and I made cupcakes too

Hey SD whats the zumba thing called? I love zumba and go to a couple of classes a week but it would be good to have a game for the wii for those times when the sports centre is closed or I'm snowed in etc.

Hope you have fun with it

Good Afternoon Friends,

A cheery Happy New Year to Mr. G, Mylife and SD! You all sound so positive the first day in the new year.

Sped: my Grey Goose days have been over since May 28, 2010. Notice I used past tense about the Grey Goose in my freezer: Ah yes, my freezer had a bottle of Grey Goose in it for quite some time. The only booze I have in fridge is beer, because a friend of mine drinks it and I never have liked beer. Don't worry about me....I'm fine.

Lav-meatballs, sausage and cupcakes? All I have to say is....what time is dinner?:H

Chill-your New Year's sounds heavenly.

I just finished my workout and I'm ready to build a huge fire and watch the Rose Bowl. I'm a Wisconsin Badger fan as several of my friends went to school there....so I'm cheering for the Badgers to kick some serious butt.

Have a wonderful AF eveing!

Jubilant January ~ Week 1

Hi Rusty!
Just heading off to bed as I have an early New Year cycle in the morning with my group.

I started my new Louise Hay calendar today (obviously :H) and wanted to share the January reading:-

I know this will be a happy year! I easily release any old habits that are keeping me tied to the past. In the beginning of this year 2011 I want to move slowly and carefully, making sure that all my choices support the new pathways I want to take. I choose thoughts that make me feel good about myself as well as others. I select foods that support my healthy body. And I make the decision to be with people who enhance my life. What a great way to begin the year!

Jubilant January ~ Week 1

I would say this gang is having a great start to the New Year.

I actually slept in a little later than usual and got to the gym for a 16 mile bike ride. My head is still too congested to manage a run - maybe tomorrow.

Lav - No, unfortunately, I did not make it to the Mummer's Parade in Phila today. I just wasn't feeling up to it. Your meatballs sound marvelous. I grew up in South Philly and we were one of the few non-Italian families on the block. My mother was a pretty good cook but her Irish/English meatballs couldn't compare with our Italian neighbors. Yum, now I am thinking Italian for dinner tonight!

I am following up on one of my resolutions and will be trying a new church tomorrow for services. There is a United Church of Christ church that I found in the area that advertises being open and friendly to people of all lifestyles. So, I'm going to give it a try. And, the name of the church is St. John so I thought it would be a good fit! :H

I have to share this pic that I just took of my precious little Westie. I am sitting here in my den and I heard him snoring beside me and I snapped this photo. I guess he partied hard enough for both of us last night!!

Wishing you all a pleasant evening.... Attached files

I too am getting a craving for italian instead of the leftover chinese. Hmmm, Lav, you're only 6 hours away!!

I have plenty of leftovers John & papmom My daughter & SIL came over too!

I should have taken a picture of EB's face when he finished eating.........it was red/orange from ear to ear :H Then he said 'give Uncle Dan a kiss' - we all laughed because there was no way my SIL was going to let that meatball faced kid near him :H

John, how do you keep your dog so clean???? My dogs spend way too much time outside rolling around in who knows what??? They are basic dirtballs.
Are we going to have to address you as St John after tomorrow? Just kidding - I hope you enjoy your church visit.

I might just turn in a little earlier than usual tonight......I'm tired for some reason.
Wishing everyone a cozy evening.

Jubilant January ~ Week 1

Happy New Year, Jubilant (and those of us seeking such a place) Troops. I am at a break in dinner preparations, most of which look really good but I do have four highly questionable entries in my efforts to make a crusty thin sourdough flat bread (what I would like to envision as an "Ethiopian crepe" in an alternate universe). Any Ethiopian alcoholics around for technical assistance? I varied each a bit in the cooking but all still look forlorn, even weepy. I can?t blame a high self so perhaps it is my high altitude. Lord Bird Heart will eat anything (anything, I could give him a properly presented crayon or pine cone), so he will gamely try each one along with me to compare and contrast.

It looks like a cold night is coming; I know dear SD, New Mexico is balmy in contrast but we are talking 5 degrees?that?s ?15C? and with wind the ?feels like? chill is hard for us wimpy ones, even when I remember that I once froze in big wet boots to the sidewalk in North Dakota. You will be a warm star. So sleep well everybody and enjoy your personal paths toward health and freedom. Love, Ladybird.
may we be well
