    AF Daily - Tues 1/4

Wow, Pride, kudos to you for handling your friend so well. I'm afraid I would not be so gracious. I know I thought I could sense that others were uncomfortable with my quitting, most only commented that they didn't think I had a problem. Even the heavy drinkers in my life never made comments like that to me. You must be very compassionate to realize she must be saying these things out of guilt and fear. Perhaps you will be able to help her find her way out.

Gia, thanks for the kind words. My little guy is 16, so I feel bad this has been overlooked for so long. What flavors and brands of coffee beans do you like? They had some in the store in bulk form, but no descriptions as to flavor. One was called "Snickerdoodle" wth, does that mean it tastes like a cookie???

Someone mentioned Oprah's new channel. I've had it on all morning and now "When a Man Loves a Woman" is on. One of my all time favorite movies. No, I haven't started in my office yet, but I will......:thanks:

      Hidy Ho ABland!

LVT, every cup of coffee I drink starts off as freshly ground beans. it's the ONLY way to go! in fact today I'm probably headed to the williams/sonoma store to pick up a new 'burr grinder' and will relegate my old grinder to spices only.

I have a coffee grinder I use for flax seeds. I used it for coffee and adored it until I quit caffeine. Now I'm still in the "I'm going to quit" caffeine phase and don't want to use it and decrease my chances further. Sound familiar? Ugh. The games I play with myself.

I started taking Prozac again today after being off if for about 4 weeks. I don't like being on anti-depressants, but it seems like the best thing to do. I've been practically catatonic lately, stressed by the slightest thing and not able to enjoy anything. If I'd waited much longer alcohol would have seemed like a way out of the malaise and I can't have that. Protecting my sobriety is my top priority at this point.

Prozac takes a while to kick in (I think it's up to 2 weeks) so I still have some time of feeling miserable to look forward to but at least know I know it's going to end soon.
          Alcohol Free since 11/29/10!

Lily :l, I think that's the right thing to do. You're tackling a lot at once. Tell your boyfriend you need more time to think and take care of yourself. You might be feeling better in a few days.

              Good day Abbies!

Geeeeeeezus! Today was the first time in MONTHS that I woke up with a spring in my step and just raring to get going! First day back at school done for Little AFM; she had loads of fun! I also managed to get to the library and return some books, took out a couple more inspirational reads in regards to ridding fear, and one to help me focus on my new upcoming career. I also managed to get a hold of a revamp form for the SPCA as I will be starting school soon and will begin to volunteer again there now that things have settled down. Now I am reading up on the threads and honking out on a big bag of Dill Pickle chips. (that has to STOP!) I am trying to settle down on the 'salt' in my diet, but have been craving it the last two days.

Lily, there is absolutely nothing wrong with going on anti-depressants if you need them. I went onto Ciprolex December 3rd, and they helped me HUGE through a recent family death. I did drink once about 2 weeks after I started them. BUT, given the impact of the death had on me, it really saved me in many ways. It didn't allow for me to spiral into a deeper depression where I would have turned to drinking to numb the feelings. I dealt with what life was giving me and I believe they really helped. So, do what you need to do. Seeing that I have been on them now for a little over a month, they are working very well. My stress and grief levels are kept under control. My desire to drink is extremely minimal. I really believe that people should not suffer if they don't have to. :l Also, Lav, has suggested to me and a few others about something natural called Amoryn. (I believe that is how you spell it). I may check into it down the road at some point, but I don't want to mess with what is working for me at the moment. You might want to check it out.

Greenie, thanks for kick starting our day off with that nice post.

Hello to Gia, Uni, AA, Lav, Momof3, Det, LVT, Pride, English and all to come.

                Hi all!

AFM, you do sound 'springy' - good for you
If anyone is interested in a natural OTC that works very well with no side effects:
AMORYN Mood Booster | Natural Antidepressant | Supplement for Depression & Anxiety

Worked absolute wonders for me, really, just look at me :H:H

LVT, grinding coffee is nice. I have a Krups grinder that is older than dirt & still does a great job. Look on Amazon if you can't find any good coffees locally. I love the strong flavored french roast types

Tomorrow is Humpday already - time flies!
                Have a great evening everyone.

Whooo-late check in for me!! Hi Everyone!!

EW-LOVE your new avatar! You and your doggie are sooo cute!! (don't worry-i'm old enough to be your very young grandmother :H )

Lily-hang in there! I echo everyone-do what you have to do to feel better.

LVT-all the best for your son and the new meds. Hopefully he's feeling relieved that other kids are like him and it's not his fault. Keep us updated oK? And yes, you do pay it forward so please don't think you don't. I'm glad you were able to have a talk with your friend. I bet it helped her tremendously to know she doesn't have to go through this alone. So sorry about your BIL's dad. I don't drink coffee so I can't help you there but my dad uses a small coffee grinder (might be called a spice grinder) to grind his own beans. I don't think he goes for any of the fancy stuff-just plain old roast I think. He loves the fresh taste tho.

Pride-LOL about the office! Surely didn't mean to shame anyone! But doesn't it feel good? I still have piles of paper to go through. I really need to be ruthless this time around and not keep anything that I can get online. I too am a pile not file person. Are you sure this person is a real friend? All I can say is that there wasn't one person in that room that didn't know what was going on with her when she tried to blame the glass breaking on you! You have way more patience and compassion that I would have. yes, beige is definitely the color this week, tinged with a teeny bit of fear that I won't get the work done in time for orientation.

AFM-when does school start for you? You must be so excited!! Can't wait to hear all about it!!

BB-same for you with photography school! How great that you already have some projects you can do that will be the start of your portfolio!! Hope you'll let us see some of your work!

Lav-how nice you were able to get together with your old friend. Ahhh, the joys of being your own boss!!

AA-good to see you back-glad you enjoyed your mini vaca!

Greenie-I'm with AA-what the heck is a chackra and how do you clean it? Is that what Lav does with the smudge stick?

Where is Chief and IJM? We miss you guys!!

I had another appt with my therapist tonite. First one since early Nov. I told her I'm not sure I should keep coming. I'm not depressed, my problems are small and manageable and I think I've figured out why I abused AL for so long and I don't think it has to do with issues, I think it was the whole biochemistry thing where I couldn't turn the switch off after one or two drinks. Same with sugar. Well, she says lets meet at least one more time so that's OK. I just don't want to waste her time. My next session is mid February.

Tonite HAS to be an early nite as I HAVE to be in work by 8am instead of 9. See you all tomorrow!!

                      Greenie,
I haven't had time to sit & listen to the teleseminars so far this week but I will try
I took an online course at the DailyOM not too long ago called Firing Up Your Chakras (I think). It was pretty cool. I'll look at your site now.

Thank you PapMom - I am blushing!
