    Jubilant January ~ Week 3

    Good morning Jubilant ones!

Ugh, first is was snow last evening, then it was ice overnight & now it's raining - what a mess out there :upset:
Haven't been out to see the chickens yet - I hope they understand. I did load them up with plenty of food & H2O yesterday........now if they just don't peck each other to death being cooped up :H

Maybe sugar cravings are normal this time of year for winter survival
I dragged a piece of leftover cake out of the fridge last night (even though I told myself I shouldn't). I put it on the coffee table & went to the kitchen to pour a cup coffee. When I returned with my coffee I saw the empty plate & fork on the floor - no cake anywhere & a Greater Swiss Mountain dog licking her lips :H:H Just as well I guess!

Wishing everyone a great AF Tuesday.

      Jubilant January ~ Week 3

Gray, gray day here. Drizzle but prediction of turning to frozen rain later this afternoon. I love the gray as I have the opposite of seasonal affect disorder, a gray day is so much better for my mood than a sunny one. Too many years in NM; sunshine for me can be relentless. Supposed to drive an hour south this afternoon to pick up my son but am worried about ice and fog. Think I'll suggest that he take the shuttle.

John, thanks for the book recommendation. Pass on others too.
Saw previews for Heavy. Isn't obesity so much like alcoholism, uncontrollable consumption with no regard for how much damage it does.
PS: choc covered pretzels, that salt and sweet, love it.

SD, yeah a MWO boot camp. It will be like celebrity rehab for people like us (i.e. nobodies)
And little brat, I do believe I am old enough to be yo mama.

Lav, seriously, my first take was I thought you were suggesting that I put Lime Away on my hair!!
Have tried LA in the shower but even that doesn't seem to do the trick. My son's talking about a water softening system like Culligan Man.

Hey everyone else, may you have the weather you love and an afternoon you enjoy.
Shout out, Chill. Thaw out, Pap. Slow down, Rusty. Come out, Dew. Sing out, Sooty. Rock out, G. Take a break, Dill. Keep up the good work,Star. Write on LBH. Rustop, keep being that queen of mothering.
Can't remember anybody else, but love you anyway.

hey shells- How old are you then? We had this convesation before but I cant remember. Who is the oldest here? I am turning 40 this august. I read that book recommended by your therapist and it's very good.

Lav- What a cute picture! They look like tellytubbies ( meant in the nicest way!!). Really adorable. You must be so excited!! I cant wait for my son to have kids one day..hopefully. if not, doesnt matter either.

Got myself a personal trainer and having my first session this monday so hopefully this will kickstart me back into healthy living again. I need it..getting spots everywhere from too much sugar and processed foods.

            Has anyone tried Moroccan oil?

              Hey rebirth!

I had to look up morrccan oil - never heard of it. Don't think I'll be using it, looks pretty pricey!

The picture of the girls is funny....dueling bellies

I know Shelley is a couple of years older than me (I'm 29)
I think some of us could could have kids close to your age - almost!

Good luck with the trainer, I'm afraid I just don't have that much energy to spend anymore :H

                Jubilant January ~ Week 3

                Hey Folks:

Oy - What a yucky weather day. Still managed to drive into the office this morning despite the mess. I am ready for this winter to be over. Maybe you're right, Lav - the sugar cravings are a coping mechanism.

Rebirth - Good luck working with your trainer. I had lots of success working with my trainer when I got serious about losing weight a getting into shape about 2 years ago. I toned up and lost about 35 pounds. I've lost an additional 10 pounds since I stopped drinking last July. I am right where I want to be with my weight now.

Sped - One of my most recent favorite books was Prayers for Sale, Sandra Dallas, (9780312385194) Paperback - Barnes & Noble. I really enjoyed the author's style of storytelling and most of the novel is in fact about telling stories. It is very sweet.

Rustop - I definitely take better care of my body than my car at the moment. Although, I just reached 100,000 miles on my odometer - first time ever! I take the buggy in for routine maintenace, etc. but I don't go overboard.

Amidst all of the craziness at work (we are still dealing with operational issues), we are in the midst of our annual performance appraisal process. And, I told my boss that this will be my last year. So, I have a definite target and objective to meet this year - develop and implement my transition plan!! I have a 250+ employee organization so now I have to work on my replacement, etc. Things move very SLOWLY in my company and we are also in the midst of a complete hiring freeze so I have challenges ahead of me. At least it will keep me busy and focused. I feel very relieved right now. It's a good feeling.

Well, tomorrow is HUMP day... wishing you all a pleasant evening...

                  Jubilant January ~ Week 3

                  Good morning everyone

For those of you struggling with horrible weather, hope it soon improves. We are having very frosty nights but beautiful sunny days at the moment. I love it as it is ideal walking weather. Have just had a long walk with the doggies.

Sped - you are right, the overeating does resemble the al problem. Its a tough battle on both ends of the scale.

John - Glad you are in a good place regarding work. Making the decision is the hardest part of the battle.

Dont have time to mention everyone but want to wish you all a happy hump day. Girls finish school at 12 noon so have to run.

                    Good morning all.

PAguy, how great to be able to put in your notice at work and to be financially in a good place. Now, plan for a great retirement. Thanks for the book suggestions, love that you are a reader. I just got a great funny book,, Mennonite in a Black Dress, it is hysterical. I need something funny right now.

Sped, good you are safe at your son's. I do live within three hours of Chicago, so often experience the same type of weather.

Rebirth, it's hard to stay on a healthy eating plan. I had chocolate last night after eating well all day, and now feel crummy. Today is another day.

To all, have a great AF day.

                      Jubilant January ~ Week 3

                      Greetings JJ's!

Wow, John, that is big news! I have been looking into the options for retirement but for me, it may have to wait for 2 years. I am considering dropping to part time during that period. BTW, I have Prayers for Sale audio version in my Holds at the public library. Thanks!

Rustop, I am becoming very aware of the importance of taking care of my body. I am at an age when friends and family around me seem to be facing more challenges as a result of age and disease. It is very much on my mind just how quickly things can change and one's health and mobility can become limiting. Let's all take very good care of ourselves!

Rebirth, thank you for mentioning that you posted on the end of last weeks thread. I went back and read it. You were asking about ages as you are turning 40. I have mentioned this before, but since you're asking about ages, I am going to be 59 in April.

LBH, I used to have the problem you are describing about things getting over-written when I connected my iPod to the computer. That is likely because you have your iPod settings on "automatically sync". I changed my settings to "Manually sync" and have complete control over the comings and goings of items to my iPod. Try this sometime:

                      1. Connect your iPod, to your computer and select your device in the iTunes window
                      2. Click the summary button and select “Manually manage music and videos”
This will stop your iPod from automatically syncing. You should be able to add and delete content at your discretion. If this doesn’t make sense, go to your HELP button.

I am not sure you should do it until you are done with your current library downloads because they will likely be automatically synced until you are able to change the setting. I hope this helps!

Sped, thanks for sending a bit of pleasant temperatures my way! On Monday afternoon it was so sunny and pleasant that I got in two lovely walks; one in town with a girlfriend and one in the woods with Mr. D. The temp was 33F! Perfect. However, I have been warned that another bout of snow and cold are coming.

:l CHILL :l Check in soon.

Star, Cyn, SD, Rusty, G., Sooty, Mg72, Dew, PM3, Lav and all who check in, have an AF Humpday!
                      Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

                            Good morning all,

Dill, please send the sun here when you're done with it -
It's been too dark too many days in a row for me!

Today is my first born's BD. I'm going to surprise her with a drop spindle kit & accessories for spinning wool. Believe it or not she is interested in that stuff, actually took a spinning class a couple of years ago. Our MWO Australian friend beagle sent me some wool freshly shorn from her sheep that I've included in the gift. Can't wait to see what my girl creates with her gift.

John, you've made a big decision, good for you. If you decide to retire to Cow Country I just noticed a nice 2 acre lot for sale about 2 miles from me

Taking care of the aging body is a heck of a lot of work, isn't it? The car goes in once per year for inspection & any other necessities but the doctor & dental appointments, exercise, healthy cooking, drugstore trips, etc seem like a full time job

More snow due here Friday even though I don't want or need it - c'mon Spring!!

Wishing everyone a happy AF humpday!

Happy humpday everyone, we had sunshine today wayhay and I actually got outside and went for a walk! Oh what joy to see that yellow globe in the sky and its forecast to last until the weekend so I'm going out again tomorrow and the housework can wait

I hope some comes your way soon Lav, its so miserable when its dark and grey all the time, its definitely enough to drive you to sugary things! I hope your daughter enjoys the spinning and the wool - how wonderful that she is interested in spinning.

I was watching a programme on lace making last night and fancied having a go at that - it was beautiful both watching and the finished product!

Better go, things to do cos I've been truanting all day
