        Congratulations Horsegirl 1year sobriety!

Wow. 1 year AF today. That is amazing! I was posting this week about these 1 year AF threads and how much they inspire me. Here is what I wrote.

One of the things thats helping me is to look at the celebration posts in the general discussion board-You know the ones that say 1 year Af today! Well I have read so many of them that I am tired of being the reader. I want to be the one posting it some day. You know the saying "always the bridesmaid-never the bride" -well thats how its starting to feel for me. Now how to reach this elevated state? Well its a no brainer isnt it-dont drink for 365 days just like they did. Thats how you get to post one of those celebratory posts. The slogan that is working for me and driving me through the cravings at the moment is -If you dont change, your clean date will. I like it. It speaks to me somehow.

You know that song in the Jungle Book-I Want To Be Like You? Well there is a line in it
        "oh oobee doo
        I wanna be like you
        I wanna walk like you
        Talk like you,too.

Well thats me! Congratulations again! Here is a birthday song for you to celebrate your 1st birthday. Its an old fashioned song but I hope you like it anyway.

                Congratulations Horsegirl 1year sobriety!

                :thanks: Catch for starting this.

And thank you, Mario, Nora, Coalfire, JackieClaire, and fennel for the wishes.

Actually I need to thank all members here, because that is where the inspiration and the courage came for me to try AA as a way to achieve sobriety. I was not making it on my own, and probably never would have. I'm grateful to all who share with others their various experiences here.

Here is a clip from the Daily Recovery Readings for today (which I also found through here) that I liked and felt was appropriate for me:

[pre]Our Traditions are key elements in the ego deflation
process necessary to achieve and maintain sobriety in
Alcoholics Anonymous. The First Tradition reminds me
not to take credit, or authority, for my recovery.[/pre]

I am learning not to take credit for my recovery, but I am trying to take full responsibility for it.

Thanks again - You are all my "Heroes"

And thanks for sharing that quote. What a great point to make and focus on.

                        Hi All
Congrats horse girl!!! Great to see another member succeeding in finding their way out. I am happy to see you mention that it was a combination of aa and mwo. I am not an aa person but others may see this and realize it is what they need in their fight. What ever it takes. Well done in not stopping until you found your way.
