    Focused February - week 1

    Good Evening Focused Friends!

A frosty, sleepy hello from Fremont, Ohio. I am happy to say that I was very focused for the first day of February. I worked out twice....determined to lose this weight.

    Sooty-congratiulations on losing 3 lbs.

Papmom-your little doggie is so lucky you are there to protect him....what a feat! My client on Monday has 2 Portugese Water Spaniels and one of them competes in agility. The lump on your dog's chest....maybe a fatty tumor....which is what my dog had? What did the vet say?

Star-I am so sorry for your loss:l Were you close to this relative? I'm thrilled that you will be able to help out your friend who got the DUI. You can support each other.

Dill-Thank you for the wonderful Daily Recovery Reading. I really miss your quotes when they're not there each day.

John-you continue to amaze me with all your positive energy...you're also so upbeat!

Rebirth and Rustop-good luck with WW....lots of success stiories out there.

Lav-I bet you can't wait for the arrival of your granddaughter....how fun! I love babies.

Chill-congratulations on the 2 job interviews. Way to go! What kind of jobs did you apply for?

I really love you guys but you won't be seeing me posting as much. I have to stay focused on my weight loss goals, and I have to start studying for my automotive recertification exam. The first-time pass rate is only 52%, and I figure I'll need about 3 months of studying every night to be prepared. THe exam is 10 hours long. This is my whole career, guys. There are less than 100 women in the world who do what I do, and I don't want there to be 99 because I flunked.

I am particularly sad today, My dear brother has been married for 38 years. He and his wife have 4 beautiful, adult children....all college-educated, all successful. She suddenly decided "there wasn't a spark in their marriage anymore," and divorced him. I really love her but right now I'm so angry I could just spit. My brother is a wonderfully sweet husband, father and grandfather of 5. He has doted on my SIL all these years and she suddenly decides she's not happy!!! My brother is devastated....as we all are. All the years that he spent working 70 to 80 hours per week so he could educate his kids and now she gets half! ((((AAAAARRRGGGHHH))))) So much for my big happy family. It will cast a pall on my birthday party on Friday.

In the good news department, it did not even occur to me to drink. It had no appeal for me today!

Well, off to bed. Have a wonderful AF evening and stay warm, everybody!

      Focused February - week 1

I am joining ff a little late, wait today is the first, so maybe not? My head is swimming literally. Was in the pool to teach my first class of Feb session by 10 am, then swam laps for 30 min, had to shower and change to drop off a thank you note for a job interview I had last wednesday, wish it was this wednesday, I've stopped the daytime sweating, and even my face looks smaller and less flushed. I was a nightmare last week and I am pretty sure I blew a rare opportunity for a job I really wanted. And I couldn't write the thank you note because I was drunk off and on until my day one on Sunday. I could barely write it today because of my hands shaking still, could have been a mental block though, I have sloppy handwriting and it made me nervous. But I took the best I could muster and dropped it off today...too late to mail it. Then back to the pool for evening lessons, a mom and tot class--so cute-- and then a beginner adult -- love this class. Then off to shower again because I have to be up by four am to cashier at the pool. I'm picking up shifts to make extra money until I get a full time job. Normally I'd be royally pissed because waking up after 2 bottles of wine means hell on earth none the less driving. I'd have to turn it down because I drink. BUT I didn't have to now :thanks: to you guys. :yay:
After that I get to skype with my daughter who is studying in S. Africa for the semester:h

So I am about to end day three, and march onto day four in Fabulous Feb. Hugs!

ETA: I am still trying to everyone's names straight! How do you guys do it?

        Focused February - week 1

        Good morning everyone

:welcome: Piper. Dont worry it will take time, this is a very active thread and a lot of the names resemble one another e.g. me Rustop and then we have the famous Rusty!! Post a bit about yourself so that we get to know you. A lot of us are 29 (well 40's/50's) but sticking at 29.

Sooty - Well done. I know its the sticking at it that counts, tracking and of course going to be weighed. I am finding the new system strange starting off but you seem to eat an awful lot which is good.

Rusty - I can understand totally about spending less time online, especially when you have something so important to get ready for. We are all rooting for you. Send us a one liner once in a while just to say how you are getting on. So sorry about your brother. It's such a shock after so many years.

John - I think it is the time of year for feeling blah. I think thats why I did so much comfort eating over the last few weeks. I think I gained about 6lbs in 2 weeks!

I agree with Lav, if that groundhog has any sence he wont even put his nose out. I remember the ice storms in Montreal, ugh. Hubby was there for the big one in I think 1998. I was lucky enough to be back in Ireland.

It's not been too bad here the past few weeks. Frosty nights and very cold but sunny days which I love. However, wind and rain forecast.

Happy hump day to one and all.

        Rustop

          Focused February - week 1

Well, I am not going anywhere. My flight was cancelled and I am going to enjoy my day off. It is dangerously windy and cold outside, with lots of snow, of course. I feel badly about missing the funeral, but it is out of my control. I get scared when the winter weather is this severe. It is so dangerous. Most businesses, school, etc are closed today.

Rusty, I have had to take numerous tests and find that studying consistently, over several months, has resulted in always passing those tests. I know you will do great and be part of the 52% that passes. I used to be close to my relative that died, and have many great memories. I too limit my time to once a day, in the morning, I am all for balance in all things. Even MWO.

Piper, welcome, after a time we become friends, and get to know each other pretty well. Good luck to you on your AF journey and welcome.

On the way home last night I stopped at my local CVS, and in front of me was a man with a big old bottle of cheap vodka. Two thoughts, he will be gettng drunk tonight and feeling like a little piece of sh** tomorrow. I am so glad that is not me. I bought chocolate instead.

I may check in later today as I am home, and I plan on enjoying my day. Omlet for breakfast, reading, maybe a bubble bath, and just taking a day to do nothing but what I want. A gift.

Hello to LBH, Lav, Dill, Paguy, Rusty, Chill, Rustop, Cassia, Sooty, MG, Piper, and all on this thread. :l

            Focused February - week 1

            Good Morning Fab Febs:

Star - A Bubble Bath! Now, that sounds like some serious pampering time. Good for you - I am jealous.

I am sitting here trying to decide do I attempt to drive (or rather ice skate) to work this morning, or work from home? My motivation has not been very strong these past couple of days so I think I better go into the office. The roads look like they've been treated pretty good. It's the sidewalks and driveways that are a mess.

Lav - I just heard on the news that your county has lost power again. I hope you are safe and warm.

Rusty - All of your fans here will be cheering you on. Standardized tests can be so nerve wracking. I think we all know what your FOCUS will be this month. Best wishes and be sure to pop in every once in a while to let us know how it's going.

Piper - Welcome! Yes, this is an active thread so tell us more about yourself. There are several of us on this thread who are from the East coast / Mid-Atlantic region. I live outside of Philadelphia. Good luck with your objectives and let us know how we can be supportive.

Rustop - It's amazing I haven't gained any weight in the past couple of weeks with all the 'comfort' food and sugar cravings I've had. I think burning the extra calories with my running has something to do with it.

Ok, folks, I have to get serious about getting my day started. Wishing you all a happy HUMP and GROUNDHOG day!

              Focused February - week 1

              Good morning focus group!

I missed this one yesterday, had a busy day and was exhausted after a long weekend that included a trip to the Hospital with an elderly friend. He's okay now.

How did this week get to Wednesday so fast??? I'm going to go out for a morning power walk and start this month off the right way! (Okay, I know it's now Feb 2, but that's close enough).

Anyway, hope all of you have wonderful AF Wednesdays planned! Chill, good luck with your interviews! Not sure which one to wish you more luck with, so I'll just say good luck to both!

:welcome: Piper, so glad to have you join us. Well done on 4 days!!! This journey is not easy and it is good to have a group to share the burden.

Rusty, you will do just fine on your test because you are one smart cookie! Oh, and welcome to OHIO!

                Happy Humpday, Friends.

Good morning sister Dill & all Focused Ones!

Grateful to report I still have heat & power here - so far
There is a rather pretty ice coating on everthing but I know it's dangerous to venture out!

Wellcome Piper! Yes, we are seriously focused here & do a little butt kicking when needed - just kidding :H

Star, stay home & stay safe today.

I ave a little work lined up for today so I will get to it while the power gods are smiling in my favor
Wishing everyone a wonderful AF Hump day.

                    Focused February - week 1

                    Good Morning Focused Febbers!!
It's an icy/snowy day-more ice I think. It's going to be hell to shovel out again later on but it is a snowday all over the state. I don't think there is one school open anywhere!!

Rusty-you do what you have to do. We all want you to be in that 52% so you go girl!! Check in quickly every once in a while and we'll be happy.

Lav and John-i'm feeling for you! John-I hope you made it into work OK and Lav I hope you haven't lost power. But at least you have the generator. Hoping the hens will stay warm together.

So we have a WW subgroup here! Yea! I didn't track yesterday and I should have. I keep thinking that with all the shoveling I don't really need to track. Maybe I'll play catch up today to see if my instincts were right on. Last week I gained .2 after losing 1 the week before. I still haven't gotten into my running program-left my running shoes at work so I can't use the treadmill at home. Next week I promise to get back to running AND Planet Fitness. It's painfully apparent that I have lost massive amounts of upper body strength over the years!!

Star-sorry you can't make the funeral but so glad you'll be safe at home.

Hi Piper!! Welcome! We are a fun group with lots of love and support to share! Stick with us and those 4 days AF will become 30 in no time!! You'll start to feel so much better, physically and mentally. I hope you get the job!!
Hi MyLife, Dill Sooty, Rustop and all who come later on. Stay warm and dry everyone!!

Happy humpday gang and its groundhog day too. So is winter going to come to an end or what? I for one would be delighted if it did.

Star I'm glad your decision was made for you - if conditions are that bad its just as well you couldn't go - cos no doubt you would have made the effort and its just too dangerous to risk.

How are the chicks faring in the cold Lav? I'm sorry that you've missed me on the thread, I have been here I promise.

Well its been dark and miserable here all day, I went out to the library earlier and stocked up with books, so its an early night for me.

Have a good humpday everyone, those of you who can stay at home and work. Keep safe and warm

                        Hey y'all

How did I miss the start of this thread?!

I hope our snow bunnies are surviving - it looks horrendous.

I had an awful day today - won't rehash here - its on the af daily thread.

I would love to hear some good news if there is any kicking about - cheer me up =o)

                        love to you all.

Here's a cute little something to put a smile on anyone's face
I stitched these today for a baby shower gift. A friend's daughter is expecting TWIN BOYS. I thought the Monkey See - Monkey Do theme will be appropriate.

The freezing rain turned into just rain & it warmed up a bit this afternoon so there was a lot of melting going on. Now tonight it will all refreeze of course!

I am grateful for the power & heat in my house today.....really

Lav - I was the one to lose power at home today so the decision was made for me to drive to the office where I knew I would have heat and electricity (I don't have a generator at home). So, I ventured to the office where is was comfortable but very quiet

Star - I think I've read that you live close to Chicago. My goodness, I was watching the national news earlier while I was on the treadmill at the gym and the pictures of the snowfall and all the deserted cars on the highway in Chicago were unbelievable! I hope you are safe.

Lav - I LOVE the Monkey See, Monkey Do theme. I have a twin brother and I am sure my mother would have appreciated your clever creativity. I must say that although raising twins was a challenge, my mother always insisted that her 2 boys were much easier to raise than her 1 daughter (we have a sister who is 6 years older). Sorry, ladies! :H

I have no idea what the groundhog did today and frankly, I don't care. I just want this winter to be over and done with. Do you read me?? Roger, over and out....

                              Have a great evening friends....
