    Focused February - week 1

    Happy Friday focused ones, I haven't had internet connection for the last couple of days but I have been thinking about you all.

    I'm so sorry for those of you who are having such terrible snow, please let the groundhog be right and let spring be round the corner. Here it is wet and v windy but relatively mild.

    I've had a busy week and am looking forward to the weekend. Rugby is very big here and the international games start tonight - lots of people associate it with drinking, and I'm looking forward to watching it sober and enjoying the games.

      Happy Friday Focused Ones!

      Rebirth - thanks for straigtening me out on our Rusty's BD - so it's the 10th!

      Good morning Rustop, chill, Star, Sooty & everyone! The sun is trying to peek thru the clouds here but not quite there yet. A day without sun always drags me down a little & tomorrow tere will be another storm I hope it's more rain than snow because I have a 90 mile roundtrip to make for the baby shower I'm attending.

      Well, I have a few thousand things on my to do list so I should get started.

        Focused February - week 1

        Good morning everyone! Made it to day six:danthin: Weekends shouldn't be a problem for me since I am currently unemployed and Friday's really don't have that TGIF appeal where I deserve to drink for putting in a week. And honestly, everyday was my Friday and Saturday nights. When I got laid off Jan 4th my 19 yr old daughter said I am glad (horrid job added an addition 1/4 to 1/2 to my nightly two bottles of chardonney) Take a few weeks and focus on yourself and getting healty. Treat it like rehab -- this is your time to recover and get healthy. I've been studying the AA schedule and missing meetings I planned to go to, and then I found MWO. And here I am on Day SIX! And the mountain I thought I was facing is really not as big as I thought!

        Well off to the gym, my son is home from college, he is sleeping on the sofa after playing xbox online all night. He has a doc app. today. And then a job to apply for, taxes to complete and bills to pay...and thankfully, although I love it, no pool today! I'll make up for it tomorrow, lessons ALL DAY LONG!! With my son lifeguarding so we'll be working together tomorrow.

          Its quiet in here today....

          Piper you are doing just great and even the highest and most adurous mountains are only conquered one step at a time. The best part of sober fridays are unhung saturdays!

          Star - I strive every day to keep my heart open and I believe the cornerstones for achieving this is to live in gratitude, practice forgiveness and act with compassion. Every single challenge that im faced with, although many are unpleasant, are completely necessary for me to gain the experience I believe I need to grow.

            I was reading the Daily OM email & noticed a link for Tibetan Sound Healing.
            Have you run across that yet? There are 6 lessons on You Tube if you want to take a look at them interesting I think

                Focused February - week 1

                Evening all,

                Yahoooooo Friday evening and the start of the weekend. I think I will sleep as much as possible this weekend and veg out. I have a couple of family things that I am looking forward to but otherwise I'll be tucked up under the duvet with my cosy jammies, aromatherapy candles and classical music on - bliss

                The weather here is awful, very cold, raining and very high winds I can hear the tiles on the roof rattling, I have a 150 year old stone cottage and the upstairs bedrooms are in the eves and when it's raining it hammers down on the velux windows in the roof. It actually sounds very therapeutic and cosy lying in bed listening to the rain. I love my cottage it's my peaceful, calm refuge away from the stress of work and when I pull into the driveway after work I feel content.

                I'm hopeful that I will get a chance to read back the posts over the weekend and catch up with you. Happy sober Friday guys.

                    Just a quick check-in before I go to bed.... Thankful this is Friday and looking forward to a stress free weekend. No major plans other than getting to the gym and hopefully a massage on Sunday!

                        Focused February - week 1

                        Good morning Chill and all to come

                        Glad the sun is shining Chill, enjoy. It's drizzling here but have been out for a short walk with the doggies before I drive my daughter somewhere. Do you use the expression drizzling in the US? Cant remember. Its a light rainfall, grand soft day as they say here!!!

                        Enough of the weather forecast. Rusty - sorry I was a few days early. Thought when you mentioned your client having the cake for you that it was yesterday. Are you having a party? I missed a few days last week so am not completely up to date on all the news.

                        Have a busy day driving but am going out to dinner with hubby tonight. It's an early Valentine dinner as I know next week-end will be crazy with the girls/boyfriends doing their thing. No point getting annoyed that we cant get out then so going a week early. The new pro-points in weight watchers allows you 49 extra points at the week-end so I guess that covers me. Cant figure out how I will loose weight as I seem to be able to eat so much so that will be interesting.

                        Anyway have a great AF Saturday everyone.

                          Good Saturday Morning Focused Fraus, Frauleins und Herrs,

                          Wow....what a commotion I caused with my birthday. SORRY! Last night, my family took me out to dinner at a lovely restaurant to celebrate since I am traveling to Texas and Oklahoma next week. My client did have a cake for me on Thursday but that's because this is my last visit with this client. We have to rotate clients every 3 years and my rotation is up. I am VERY glad. My client is Canadian, a total snob, and makes anti-American comments whenever she can.

                          Piper....:goodjobn your AF days! I have enjoyed getting to know you. I'm glad weekends are no longer a trigger for you.

                          Dew, Cassia....great to see you!

                          Chill-I'm amazed at your serenity going through all your life's changes.

                          Rustop-isn't counting points a pain? Ugghhhh....I could never do it. Nope, no party....I'm flying home from Oklahoma on my birthday so it will definitely be AF.

                          Lav-I have not seen G in weeks. Has he been posting on the other threads? Are you done with his G-string yet? Please post a picture when it's finished so I can put a picture in the MWO Daily Mail.:H

                          Rebirth-going to Barbados in summer....fantastic! Hey, I bought the Billy Banks' DVD. You and I WILL be in shape for summer, right? I'm going to think of you everytime I punch and kick.

                          Lav-If those thoughts of YB start invading your your mind like a virus, I will send you my Tae Bo DVD.

                          Paguy-I'll be thinking of you when I go to the gym today. I'm so happy for you.

                            Ice covering everything here this morning - freezing rain has been falling all night. This is going to make my trip a little white-knuckle- ish today but I'm still going (to the baby shower ) :dang: I refuse to miss an opportunity to get out of cow country for a day!!!

                            Rusty, I'm not sure where G has been. Maybe he's busy practising his birthday cake routine :H

                              John I?ve been feeling quite unsettled this week too and I agree the miserable weather and my attitude about work right now are wearing me down. My energy and motivation seem to have deserted me and I so need to get out of this funk.
                              Rusty I really understand your need to concentrate on your studying, you do what you need to we will all be around if and whenever you need us, isn?t that the great thing about this site. Make sure you drop do by occasionally because your stories are always entertaining, enthusiastic and make me smile.
                              Papmom how you manage to maintain your sense of humour with all that snow is amazing ? I need to borrow some of your ?get up and go? can you send a parcel over please.

                              I can so relate to your enjoying having the house to yourself, I enjoy being a bit of a hermit at times, it does my soul good. I found your comments on ?living with an open heart? very pertinent to myself at the moment as I am harbouring some real anger and resentment towards someone and I hate feeling like this.

                              Well I?m in a bit of a funk as I said, I still have not lost the 4lbs I put on over Christmas and have not been regular with my walking and exercise, my yoga class has been cancelled a couple of times and the belly dancing I started has been rescheduled as the leader is ill. Work has been very stressful and will only get worse this year so I need to find ways to manage that. I know I need to reconnect to my spiritual side and get a bit of balance back into my life. Checking in with you all and reading back this thread has really resonated with me in many ways. I think I need to check back in more regularly, start a regular exercise plan which will help the weight loss and find ways to increase my motivation and energy levels. Maybe reassess my eating, I?ve slipped a bit with the supplements so go back to them too. I was checking out some threads this morning and reread the one on PAWS which I am thinking might be what I am experiencing so have printed it off.

                              At the same time I have plenty in my life to be grateful for ie at least I do have a job, 4lbs is not a lot it could be 40! My family are all well and thriving, in a few years time (I hope) I?ll be able to retire early and go travelling....................

                                Focused February - week 1

                                Hi Everyone!! It's been a crazy couple of days and didn't have the energy to post but did read everything.

                                Dew-thanks so much but much of that "humor" is false bravado. Believe me, there's been many tears shed the past month!! I guess what I do know is that if I don't do it, it won't get done so after I have my pity parties I just do it as Nike says!! I'm sorry you're having such troubles with someone. Did you sign up for the 21 day meditation challenge? If so, have you gotten to the one about opening your heart? I stopped at Day 7 because they changed the format and I can no longer access the meditations from my EVO and I am NOT dragging my laptop into the bedroom. OK, maybe I will tonite. I miss them!!

                                Rusty-so glad you checked in. Hope your studying is going well. Ugh.

                                Rustop-Sounds like you had a busy day lined up today. Hope it all went as planned.

                                Mr. G-is everything OK in your neck of the world? I hope you don't live where the cyclone hit!! Please check in!!

                                Well, I'm not being very focused this month for some reason. My exercise routine is out the window and my home scale showed at least a 3 lb gain so I didn't even go to WW today.
                                So what is my plan you ask?
                                1. Order 5-HTP. I am really getting tired of the Restless Legs at night. the meds do help but it's getting so I need to take 2 pills instead of one now. Not good. I've done some research and 5-HTP is being used not only to treat RLS but also sugar cravings and sleep problems. Seems that good old Tryptophan is important for a lot of things that keep you healthy and I'm betting I have precious little of it (not unusual for someone of my age).

                                2. Now that I'm done with my Saturday job (today was my last day!!!), I have decided that after WW on Saturday mornings I will go straight to PF which is right next door. I'll be home by 9:30 am and the whole day will be ahead of me. This will start next Saturday.

                                3. Zumba is now being offered at work on Tuesday nites at 5pm. One hour of crazy dancing and I'm home by 6:45pm.

                                4. There are free conditioning classes at work starting at 5:30pm. Not that I need instruction on how to lift weights but having someone there to watch and give encouragement and suggestions should be very helpful. Again, one hour and I'm home by 7:15.

                                5. Again, at work, there is a Couch to 5K group that I never knew existed!! There's an info session at 12noon on the 17th so I am definitely going to that. Again being part of a group will be very helpful I think. We'll start off on the treadmills at the fitness center and in the good weather head outside for our runs.

                                6. Be much more diligent about tracking my food intake. I am just fooling myself when I don't track and think I know what I'm putting in my mouth. Obviously-3 lbs up this week!! I feel like I threw the weighin on the Biggest Loser :H

                                So, that's my plan and I hope I'll stick to it. All I know is that I can't keep going in the direction I'm heading (sound familiar???). And that AL will have no part in this plan.
