    Focused February - week 1

    Good evening folks!

Made a safe trip today, luckily the temp went up to 36 degrees & the ice disappeared

Papmom, I stepped on the scale this morning & did not expect what I saw!!!!! I swear I must have eaten my way thru January - crap! I've given myself a stern lecture (bad, bad Lav :H)

Dewdrop, this is the time of year for sinking moods. Even though we still have plenty of snow on the ground & more on the way next week I'm thinking Spring....spending time out in the gardens, playing outside with my grandson (he loves the chickens )

Well, you should have seen this baby shower I went to today. It was held in a restaurant, tons of very good food & a table filled with every kind of wine & beer you could think of - OMG! That really suprised me, wasn't expecting that at all. I smiled & said no thanks, it was no big deal. But I have to tell you watching a room filled with women swigging red wine at 12:30 in the afternoon really turned me off - gag! Made me very happy to be AF because I'm home safely with no headache - but those other girls can't say the same. A few of them got very, very loud. Glad that era is over for me BTW - the expectant Mom loved the Monkey See Monkey Do onsies

Is our Shelley in transit again??

Have a great evening everyone! I'm putting my feet up now

      Focused February - week 1

      Good morning everyone

Just a quick check in from me as I have to drive hubby to the airport. He is in Sweden for most of the week. Both girls have exams this week so things are going to be all over the place, routine goes out the window.

Went out for dinner last night, very tasty. Did not even attempt to point it but according to this new WW system I have 47 points to spend over the week-end so we will see Tuesday. Was driving so easy to stay AF, we did go for a drink afterwards, it was nice to get out with hubby on our own for a few hours.

Wet and windy here today so gearing myself up to take the doggies out in it. Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.

        Focused February - week 1

So happy to be AF after the weekend I have had. Oh, and I still do not have hot water.

On Friday, the plumber was unable to repair the hot water heater. The manufactuerer is sending out parts next week. So, we are just purchasing a new heater and having it installed today. It is costing us money, a loss for us financially, but we have no faith in this repairman, and the company will not replace it, so we are cutting our losses. Hopefully, by this afternoon, I will have a new hot water heater and will have hot water by this evening.

Then, on Friday afternoon, the electricity goes out, no phone or internet, too. Can you believe it? Finally, we get electricity back, but no phone till late yesterday. It was a really irritating day. Fleeting throughts of alcohol crossed my mind, but I just thought, that would be the icing on the cake, to drink. It would make the anger go away for a time, but mess up everything else. So, how was your weekend?

Pap and Lav, I am not happy with my weight either, just feel like a slob. I am going to really work on portion control this week, I think that is key for me. I exercise a few times a week, and know that the food intake is the most important part for me. I want to lose weight by spring.

Anyways, I am so happy I did not drink, remaining AF is just everything to me. Life is life, but drinking just messes up everything.

Super Bowl tonight, I feel like it is a religion for some. I don't care but will be nice because my husband does care who wins. I do like the funny commericals and the halftime shows. How about you?

Have a lovely, magical AF Sunday.

Good morning Rustop, Star & all Focused Ones!

Star, sounds like you've been living in my neighborhood.......no power, no water, no phone, etc. - sucks, I know! We have had several hot water heaters replaced in our old houses over the years. They pretty much just need to be replaced - better to get it over with. I dread when stuff starts breaking down around here (this house is 7 1/2 years old).

I'm one of the minority who doesn't give a flying fig about the Super Bowl, what can I say? :H I'll just find something else to keep me occupied

Lovely to see the sun this morning, I've really missed it foir the past several days
Hope everyone has a great day!

            Focused February - week 1

            Good Morning, Friends:

I have to say this group is staying very FOCUSED on being AF this month! Considering the stress of the weather that has impacted many of us and Star - you're challenges with no hot water and electricity - how frustrating. But, at the end of the day, the realization that AL would have compounded the stress and caused more problems is the key learning, right? Go TEAM FOCUS!!

It sounds like several of us, including moi, packed on a few pounds over the last couple of months. For me, I know I have to get my sugar cravings under control. This really is so unusual for me. I'm thinking that it must be related to my re-entry into running and probably my body reminding me that it's missing all those empty sugar calories from my drinking days. Although I'm coming up on 7 months, my body chemistry is probably still programmed looking for sugar. I am really going to stay focused on this for the rest of February. I actually ran 10.5 miles yesterday for my weekly long distance run and my weight is exactly where I want it to be. Now, I need to stay focused on keeping it there!

I have an appointment for a massage later this afternoon so I am really looking forward to that. My calves are very sore from my run yesterday so I'm going to enjoy a bit of pampering today.

Lav - Sitting around watching people drink and getting loud during the day (or any time of day for that matter) is a real turn-off for me, too. It is such a positive reinforcement for me to keep doing what I'm doing.

Star - I'm not a huge football fan but I do enjoy the fanfare around the commercials. I've seen some previews that look pretty darn funny. Especially, the Doritos commercials!

We all know who Rusty will be rooting for at the Superbowl. I hope the Packers don't disappoint you, Rusty! Let's hope you get an early 50th birthday present. Hey, maybe G will surprise you and be part of half-time entertainment!!

Speaking of G - how are you? I hope you sare safe from the awful weather we've seen reported from Australia.

Greetings to everyone here.... Hoping you all have a relaxing and stress-free Sunday!
            John

              Hello again!

Some folks on the Daily thread asked me about the blue egg I got yesterday. Here's a visual for reference:

My exotic chick has grown into a blue egg laying Amerucana
I have my very own Easter egg chicken!

Can't wait for EB to get here today to see this egg

              John - 10.5 miles, really???
No wonder I feel like such a slug :H
