Hey BB-I had a whole wheat bagel with Smart Balance PB and banana and cut up strawberries, Kiwi and clementine. Yummm.
Cat's love running water-don't ask me why. but when my new kitty wasn't drinking enough and was getting infections, my vet said to buy a fountain for her so I did and it worked!!

3 beers is not a lot for drunks like us who have spent many years drinking at highly unsafe levels for both our health and our personal safety and those of our loved ones. I'm sure in the moderation section there are tons of links to medical articles that identify "safe" levels of alcohol consumption. For people who NATURALLY respond to alcohol as the toxin that it is, 3 or 4 beers is a lot. But I think we are straying way off the point here.

Alcohol is death to me, and to others on this thread. This is the ABSTINENCE section of the forum where drinking is considered RELAPSE and where planned drinking has no place, in my opinion. I personally cannot afford to entertain thoughts of planned drinking, and would truly appreciate it if such discussions were held in more appropriate sections of this forum - which I think means anywhere but the abstinence section.

I am not suggesting anyone "leave this thread." I am simply suggesting that we limit our discussion to our primary purpose which is to help each other lead an alcohol free life. At least that's why I'm here.

And I'm with Greenie. 3 beers could kill me. This is life and death for me - not some garden party.

Limers, my husband is a fabulous individual and I don't appreciate your comment. He reacts NORMALLY to alcohol which is something you obviously don't get.

Since I have offended people here and appear to make light of things. I didn't compare anyone's life to a garden party, or that it was trifle in anyway and I do take offence to that. I have come a long way with my drinking on a positive note, and I will continue on with my AF days but my thoughts are better off of here completely. I wish you all the best.

          AF Daily ~ Sunday February 13th, 2011

          Good Morning Dear AF friends,

Today is supposed to be WARM in Northern VA. I am starting to see buds on trees which means SPRING is not far away.

BB, I do hope that you are not taking offense with what folks are saying here. This is an abstinence thread and questions around what your plans are, how much you drank, etc. comes with the territory. I sincerely hope that you stick around and that you jump on the AF bandwagon. I know I speak for others when I say that I've grown to care for you very deeply over the past few months. With that said, you could be on a very slippery slope here. Do be cautious and rethink your plan. It is a concerning that you planned on having one beer but did not think that it was an issue nor did you mention it to anyone in yesterday's thread. Please remember that a brain that has been altered by the effects of long term alcohol abuse wants you to keep on drinking, hopes that you will rationalize it, wants you to say "what the fuck, I'm out of here." And, every time you take a drink (no matter how much), that part of the brain is reignited:l

Hello to everyone else. Fyi, I am about to embark on a 3 week detox nutritional program based on the Clean Program formulated by Alejandro Junger. Unfortunately, I have let sugar re-enter my life and I am feeling quite sluggish. I am hoping that this plan resets me.

MStall. Big congrats to you on making it through the vacation AF. Doesn't if feel great? Don't you feel good about what you have done? There is nothing better than meeting a challenge like this and coming out on the other side feeling stronger and happier.

Be well everyone and a special shout out to Uni. So happy to see you back and on track. You rock.

BB, you have not offended. My comments are not personal in nature. They are about the topic of planned drinking, and whether that conversation is appropriate on an AF thread in the abstinence section of the forum. In my opinion that discussion is not appropriate here. That's all.

              Hi everyone,

I hope you all don't mind but I am changing the subject!!

Momof3 - awesome idea about the clean living detox! You should start a thread as I would really like to hear all about it. I defo have a sugar addiction and it is one I am scared to give up.

Mstall - good for u on the sober holiday! I did that in Ibiza the first time I went af and it was awesome. Must admit though, I was never a big drinker on holidays. Where did u go again?

So went to hot yoga today and man, I am exhausted now. You know that was I just can't think straight. It's like my brain went pop. But I am so thankful! I was sitting with my hubby and pondering to myself about how much my life has changed for the better without al. I would never have done half the stuff I do now. And to top it all off, I have been a positive influence on my friends. My drinking buddy was right alongside me in class. I really am in a good place right now. Moving home will be the icing on the cake. I guess the only niggling thing is the aggro I have seen on loads of diff threads recently. But hey, life aibt perfect.

Wishing you all a stupendous Sunday!

                AF Daily ~ Sunday February 13th, 2011

I did a long vacation in Italy one time AF. It was tough but I loved not having any hangovers and had a really good time. I recently did a long cruise in Asia drinking. It was tough in a totally different way. I thought I loved the drinking but suffered hangovers, made my husband disgusted, and went thru a number of fun things feeling horrible. I am about to go to India for six weeks and although it will be hard, I am going to do it AF. I just cannot handle AL anymore.
I can't imagine why we are arguing about whether 3 beers is a lot or not. AF is AF, planned drinking is modding and anything else is a slip, from which you can pick yourseff up and start over.
I think that what can be concerning is that when people describe their drinking in AF threads, it makes those of us who are really struggling think about drinking. I read in one thread about someone having just a glass or two of a "lovely Pinot noir" and by the time I finished the thread, all I could think of was having just one gllass of wine. I think that is why people react. Let's face it, if we didn't have a problem with drinking, we wouldn't be on this site at all!

Hi Cassia, I may just do that (start a thread that is). I have to do some mega grocery shopping today to get ready. Fortunately, I already have a great blender and a kick ass juicer. Fyi, I have had that experience during hot yoga where I am just so damn wiped out I can't think straight. It concerns me a bit and actually was a catalyst for starting this detox diet. I think part of it is due to a bit of dehydration the other part is due to letting my eating habits go to shit. I can't do exercise that demanding without the proper nutrition. I am hoping that this diet resets and rejuvinates me. I love the hot yoga. It is the only exercise that comes close to the feeling I get from running. Unfortunately, running has taken a toll on my back so I have to be careful.

Cassia, I forgot...do you do the Bikram style yoga in 100 plus degree temps or the vinyasa style that is less hot (90 - 95 degrees)? I go to a Baptiste affiliated studio (vinyasa style).

                          Happy Sunday ABland!

ditto Doggygirl and Prancy. alcohol can quickly and violently cripple my life, my marriage, health, job, reputation and every little iota of my happiness. it's our Kryptonite, my fellow Super people.

an AF tour of Italy is a dream of mine. some day! must save some $ in the interim.

when it comes to diet I just can't say enough about how the PALEO/Primal diet has positively effected my life and Dx's too. we eat to satisfaction and are still losing body fat even though our activity levels are waning a bit in these winter months. to understand the brilliance of this lifestyle I highly recommend Robb Wolfs book:
Amazon.com: The Paleo Solution: The Original Human Diet (9780982565841): Robb Wolf, Loren Cordain Ph.D.: Books

it's not just a diet. it's a way of reversing diseases of many kinds. also the pod casts are great fun and informative. the reduction in sugar and al cravings alone makes it a winner for me.

I'm very leery of juice based diets and especially the very trendy detox diets. when we take nutrients in juice form we cause very unnatural spikes of insulin and cortisol levels in the body. and most of these diets don't include enough protein/aminos or good fats to contribute to mind or body health in the short or long term.

ok Super AF'ers, I'm off to make some breakfast with scandalous amounts of garlic

                          be well

Hey Det, I love the paleo diet and pretty much follow that. However, I do detox 2 - 3 times per year. I like the Cleanse diet because it is not solely juice based; juices, live foods, and protein such as chicken and fish.

It was bikram yoga today! Must have been at least 100 in the room. Didn't think I could sweat as much as I did. Exhausted now but I am glad I did it. Going back on Thursday!

Cassia, thanks for changing the subject! I can appreciate all you described about the ways your life is better now. By the end of my own drinking career, my life was extremely "small." Just me and my bottle, imprisoned in my house. I did more than my fair share of high risk drunk driving - don't get me wrong. (I'm very lucky nothing tragic ever happened, or many DUI's). However my intent was always to "stay put" once I started drinking. As that time of day got earlier and earlier, I was imprisoned. Life is BIG again and I'm loving every minute of it! Due to the business, I am often not here for days at a time so I miss a lot of stuff. Where are you moving?

:welcome: prancy. OH I can relate to the drinking cruise. Mr. Doggy and I went on a cruise about 10 years ago that should have been fabulous. Upgraded balcony room, the whole bit. I drank non-stop and the trip quickly deteriorated into nothing but 2 miserable people both wishing we were home. Oh how I look forward to another cruise someday and enjoying it with Mr. Doggy SOBER!!! India sounds just wonderful. I hope you take lots of pictures and share with us about it.

M3, it's always great to read your posts. Could you and Cassia enlighten me about the basic differences between regular and "hot" yoga? I don't know anything about yoga really, so I need the "for dummies" version. I see advertisements for "hot yoga" around town and I'm just curious.

Deter, you would fully appreciate the amount of garlic I've been putting in my home made vegetable soup. Garlic and cayenne pepper are my secret ingredients. Kryptonite indeed. Me too!

I just went off to the mall and got a GREAT deal on 2 jackets. I was looking for a Navy Blue blazer and found one at Express. They have all their suiting pieces on sale for buy 1 get 1 at 1/2 price. So I bought another jacket that matches a pair of express pants I already have. Now it can be a suit! In addition I had another $30 off coupon and was able to use that too. So two nice jackets under $100. I'm pretty happy. Mr. Doggy also bought me a fabulous Valentine's day present. He just doesn't know it yet. It's a very gaudy blingy FABULOUS bracelet with :bling dangling all over it. Mr. Doggy is the BEST!!!!!!!

I hope P3 is having a ball at doggie diving. I would really like to see that live.

                                One thing is for sure.....
