      DG -

I LOVE Express - I get emails from them all the time and wish we had one here. I get all my jeans from there when I am in the US and the suits are great!

Bikram or Hot Yoga was invented by Yogi Bikram (Calcutta via Beverley Hills) and it is a series of 26 postures that take an hour and a half to do. In between each posture is a rest period (maybe like 30 seconds). The room is purpose built for the heat and it does feel like you are exercising in a sauna. Here's a link:

Bikram Yoga - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It was my first class today and I loved it! I like exercising in heat generallly (hiking in Cali and Utah in the height of summer is just FAB). I should caution that I am in relatively good shape so that might have impacted on the workout. If you do a bit of exercise, you should be fine.

The main difference between regular yoga is the heat essentially. The idea is that your muscles warm up quicker and are more pliable so you can stretch and flex more of the muscle then if you just did it at room temperature. For me, its about the effort - it takes so much more in that height - i find regular yoga boring.

I am planning on moving back to the Nyc area in the next few months - I have been making loads of progress with networking - in fact, got word of a job in NJ tonight so going to follow up on that tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

You must be excited about your 1000 days coming up - what an achievement and great for a newbie like me to see. Its sounds like you had a pretty awful time towards the end of your drinking career but look how much you turned your life - truly inspiring. It always scares me when i see people post about drinking and driving. My mom was killed in a car accident and I would hate for that to happen to any of us here.

      xx

Aww Det. Life on the road sucks. (at least I thought it did!) Any possibilities of change there? Or is this roady life just something you have to deal with longer term?

Wow Cassia (and M3!) 105 degrees! I sweat like a muthah just sitting on my butt in the sauna at that temp! (well, maybe a little hotter but not much!) Kudos to you both for your awesome fitness levels. My fitness is vastly improved during my sober time. I have also discovered a few limits, aka this 29 year old body acts more like 52 sometimes!! What's up with that???? :H I think I'll stay at Curves with the "mature women" where it's safe.

Moving to NY would be exciting! Where are you living now? (sorry I miss so much when I'm away for days!) What type of work do you do?

I am so sorry that you lost your Mom that way. It only takes an instant for something truly horrifying to happen in a car. The ONLY way for me to guarantee I will not drive drunk is to not drink. If I drink, my judgement goes straight out the window. Some things are permanent and there is no taking them back. Killing someone with my car would be so horrible I can't even imagine. A woman I have gotten to know in AA was driving drunk with her fiance in the passenger seat and she crashed. She lived and he died. I have listened to her describe the hell it has been for her to get beyond that horrible day. I don't ever want to have to go through that - at least not because my judgement and physical capacity is impaired by AL.

So...one thing is still for sure.

                Hiya DG,

Yep, wednesday's the day. I'm very well here, and life is grand with ALL it's up's and down's. Bring it ALL on i say. Life is so rich, and can be scary, but far less scary without booze, the related anxiety and negativity, and CHAINS. Once we break those chain's, wow! All i do is put one foot in front of the other everymorning, and just do my best, and that's good enough for me. Nice to see you as alway's DG, and you aren't taking on too much are you? How's life, and are you getting enough, or making enough 'me' time?

I'm off to find some ________________________ but first, a run, and some lunch.

                Ooroo folk's.

Cross posted G! Must be a cosmic connection for you to mention ___________ while we were talking about nekkid piccies. :h (dirty old lady to the bitter end!)

Life is great G-man! Can't complain. Some days are super busy but I love the things I'm involved in. I am also starting to replace some things with better things as I find them. I'm so fortunate to be self employed and have the flexibility to do that. I have no idea what tomorrow will bring, but for today I am truly grateful.

It is great to hear that you are living well in the sober life too. AWESOME!!!

Great stuff DG! The sober life is truly magical, and i feel that i'm only now beginning my true journey. I don't worry that i didn't get sober earlier, it doesn't matter, as that's the past, and this is me NOW, and my sobriety and my new life never ceases to amaze me.

DG, The type of yoga I do is a little different than Bikram and a little less hot. It is called Power Yoga or Baptiste Yoga. I practice at a Baptiste affiliated studio. The yoga is done in a 95 degree room and it is a vinyasa style yoga where movement from one position to another is a little faster and connected to the breath. It sure does get the heart rate up and makes you sweat buckets. Love it.

OK. So more like hot flash temperatures. That I can handle.

You really do amaze me with your physical accomplishments!!!!

What are you going to do to celebrate?
Whatever normally happens on Wednesday. Unlike the drinking days where "cause to celebrate" would mean blowing off my responsibilities, losing an entire day to AL(or more when you consider the hangover impact, and the pre-celebration "priming of the pump" impact), and then feeling guilt and remorse about the whole thing. Compared to the old days, going to an AA meeting, then to a business meeting, then to Curves, and later on to a business social event sounds down right exciting!
