    af daily monday 7 March

Good evening all! I'm back, I'm feeling stronger in my AFness and not having to stay here all day or all weekend to keep my focus. I talked to my sister about my sister in law today and I think we figured something out. . . .you know the thing about watching a train wreck, you want to look away but you can't because it so fascinating. . .I think that is what this is, a train wreck, I just have to learn to look away because she's not going to stop wrecking so I have to stop looking, or I can keep looking a keep being mortified!

Me and my son went to visit my friend in jail on Sunday (I have know here for 16 years and she is my BFF so he knows her well, my kids call her aunt as hers do me) I was explaining to him on the way home that she may get out in a couple of weeks on probation but she will have to get a job and make restitution payments. He said "I can give her my allowance to help." I told him that was very sweet and then I started to say "if you give a man a fish he will eat for a day" and he says "I know I know mama, but if you teach him to fish he will eat for the rest of his life" I was so proud to know my lessons have not fallen on deaf ears. He is a wise one for almost 12 (Thursday) I think I have an old soul on my hands! He said " before she gets out we need to get her a fishing poll!" LOL! Unfortunately her fishing poll is called a JOB and with a felony record and no experience those are hard to come by these days but McDonald's is always hiring! Not even kidding, gotta be open to do whatever it takes!

:l to everyone dealing with any kind of pain tonight. Sending peace, love, and strength into the universe, we could all use some
You always succeed if you never stop trying.
Everyday we choose the direction of change.

Papmom, yes I took the course about wound management so that I can patch someone up not only in martial arts classes, but anywhere I may happen to be. I've always been a big advocate of the mindset of 'rugged individualism' and considering that a human can bleed to death from an arterial wound in 3 minutes or less, there is no way an ambulance or EMT would get to someone in time. Being able to save the life of loved ones, passers-by and even myself are skills I really enjoy cultivating. Like martial arts and shooting they are skills I hope I don't have to use on the street, but I'd rather have them and not need them than need them and not have them.

Happy Fat Tuesday to all! I bought Mardi Gras Beads and colorful V8 juices to have with my kids tonight while we make dinner. I love reading everyone's posts...very inspiring. I hope to be writing on this thread and hearing from all you superstars for a long and healthy time! All of you have helped me set up my home and attitude for a successful attempt at quitting this dreadful habit. I am scared but determined to beat this thing. Thank you all!!

            Hi Everyone,

Funny, I thought I posted a message earlier, but now I don't see it...hmmm. So for now I'll just say, best wishes to all! Happy to be here and so, so happy to be alcohol free!

Deter-You rock!! How cool is that you could help someone out in the middle of nowhere should they need it,or right next door. You are so right about the 3 minute thing. When I was doing sportsmedicine, my biggest fear covering a hockey game wasn't someone slamming headfirst into the boards (and that happened all too often), it was someone getting their jugular vein sliced open by a skate and would I be able to get out there quick enough to save them. Luckily for me it never happened on my watch but the thought that it could was nighmareish enough for me. Glad I'm out of that gig now.
