Marvelous Magnificant March - week 2

Lav-Bitchy chickens all cooped up! :H Hilarious! I'm at the airport now and I'm just looking at the news saying that the northeast is bracing for what could be historic flooding. YIKES! Hope you, Papmom, John, and all our other East Coast friends don't get washed away!

Jolie-yes, I found that part of smoking in Allen Carr's book rather annoying, too. My take on moderation is this: whether you can or can't moderate depends on WHY you drink to excess in the first place and how you view it. Yes, I like the taste of wine. Do I need 2 glasses when 1 is enough? My brain now says "no, 1 is fine." Like Rebirth, I am able to moderate and have the odd drink every now and then but for 2011 I am choosing to be AF. How was I able to change my thinking? I have no clue. The Baclofen helped but this site helped even more. All I know is that I'm grateful and I am one happy person!

Rusty - good for you! You really seem like you have your act together. I would really like to try and do this without having to go to a doctor - is Baclofen available without a perscription? I am cautiously optimistic but have read too many stories of relapses to think that I am totally out of the woods. Must say though that the whole way I think about alcohol has changed and even though my last drinking bout was early in January, I still to this day remember how awful it felt the next morning and I'm just sick and tired of that way of life. Thanks for being so open and honest.

Lav - you crack me up! I guess wet chickens would be smellier than two wet dogs. How many do you have? Hopefully all this rain will let up by tomorrow morning if we don't all wash away by then:H

Off to exercise, shower then hit the sack! Good night everyone!

Jolie - I currently have 26 6 month old hens who are laying nicely already! Fun hobby, dirty but fun

Rusty, hope your trip home tonight is not messed up by this weather - it is really miserable up this way.

Glad things are working out for you rebirth

          Hi Folks:

Yes, I can attest to the fact that the weather is absolutely miserable here this evening. The rain is coming down in sheets, it is very windy, and I nearly lost the front end of my car in a pothole about 1/4 mile from my home when I was driving home from the gym this evening. I better not have a flat tire tomorrow!

Finished up my training tonight with an easy 3.1 mile run and looking forward to my trip to Florida tomorrow evening. Will be working a 1/2 day tomorrow and then head to the airport in the afternoon. Certainly hope the weather clears up by then.

Lav - I agree - I think you, Jolie and me should plan on getting together for lunch sometime. I'm game!

Rebirth - Nice to see you here and to know that your path is working out OK. Keep up the great work.

Had a nice big bowl of Shrimp Lo Mein for my dinner this evening. Loading up on the carbs getting ready for Sunday!

          Have a nice evening everyone.....

Marvelous Magnificant March - week 2

Morning everyone and its Friday ? whoohooo!! I haven?t been about this week as I?ve been fighting this horrible lurgy thing that has hit me and work has been very busy, so it has been a work and sleep week. I did a 14 hour day Wednesday and an 11 hour day yesterday. I am however working from home today ? not that that is an easy day as I am catching up with admin, expenses, phone calls etc. but at least I can hang out in my comfy yoga clothes and throw on a wash in between. I need to be disciplined though as it?s easy to become sidetracked when working from home.

It is a beautiful sunny morning although a bit frosty but the sky is very blue and the birds in my garden are chirping away, we do have heavy frosts and freezing weather forecast and the road gritters were out last night, but at the moment it feels like spring is on the doorstep and I am happily optimistic for a relaxing yet energising weekend.

I trust you are all well and will catch up with you over the weekend, better go do some work.........

            Dewdrop :h
Enjoy today - there will be no other one quite like it....

Dew -The sun is out in the West Midlands too. I didnt recognise it! It instantly uplifts my mood.

Rusty have you done the taebo workout yet?

                TGIF Marching Friends,

Oooh la la.....I woke up this morning in my own bed!

Rebirth-uh, er, no, I havn't done the Tae Bo workout yet because I have a personal trainer now and I'm lifting weights, too. My doctor is starting me on the HCG Diet at the end of the month....at my request. I'm losing about 3 pounds per week but that is not good enough for me. I told her in a burst of frustration, "I THOUGHT WHEN I QUIT DRINKING THE POUNDS WOULD JUST FALL OFF!" So not the case.

John-Good luck at the race. I'll be pulling for you!:h I thought your story about your first love was so sweet....I bet you do still think of him. He was a lucky guy to have loved you back. I think of mine, too. I was 19 and it was the most innocent of loves.

Lav-I admire you for sticking with YB through "better or for worse." He was your first love and while it wasn't perfect, you have two beautiful children, and you have grandchildren, too. People forget that divorce devastates both parties financially. In a poll I took of people I know who cheat on their spouses but are still married and refuse to get divorced, that is the reason....because both parties assets would be cut in half. I am in no means justifying or rationalizing infedility, but this is what these cheating spouses tell me. These people, BTW, are NOT my friends....they are co-workers, associates, and clients.

Jolie-I never let my guard down with AL because it's just like weight. If you don't keep it in check, it can spiral out of control so fast without you even knowing it, which is what happened to me. Yes, Baclofen is available online without a prescription. Go into the meds forum and click on Baclofen and see the success stories. Yes, I am open and honest about my feelings about AL, but my views are not very popular on other threads. Maybe they're not popular here, but my friends here let me know in a nice way if they disagree with me.:l:h

Dew-my client swears by Yoga and suggested I try it for relaxation at the end of the day. Ok, I might try it, right after I try my Tae Bo DVD, AND the Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred which is still neatly packaged in the cellophane!:H

It will be an AF day for this Cheesehead. Have a wonderful AF Friday, everyone!

                  Good morning everyone

Dew and Rebirth, you seem to be getting the kind of weather we have had the past week or so. Unfortunately it is very grey today and we are promised sleet and snow on high ground. I dont even want to hear about snow again!! Could be a lot worse though, its terrible what is happening in Japan. Mother Nature certainly does not seem to be happy these days, its one disaster after another.

Rusty - I agree regarding the weight issue and Al. Dont know about other threads but I dont think I speak just for myself when I say, your views are respected and valued on this thread so keep posting.

Rushing off to get my hair done so dont have time to say something to you all individually, just have a great AF week-end.

                    Morning marchers!

                    It's Friday!

Rebirth - my hubby and I did taebo a year or so ago and it kicked my butt! Trying to get back into the exercise routing - worked out on the elyptical(?) last night for a while and then just danced around the basement while listening to my ipod and looking like an idiot for sure! (no one was home thankfully). Woke up this morning, weighed myself and I weigh more now than I did before I stopped drinking! What is wrong with this picture?

Gave up chocolate for Lent - need to start some serious exercising and cutting back real soon.

Lav & John - lunch sounds like a great idea! Amazing that we are all so close geographically.

Rusty - my sister is doing the Jillian Michaels thing and says it is kicking her butt as well

Dew - friends of mine took a yoga class last year and said it was really hard! Is it meant to relax you, tone you, or both?

Good luck in your race this weekend John!

Lav - 26 hens? Yikes - is it a lot of work? I would love to be able to have fresh eggs whenever I wanted them.

Well - better get something done today so I'll check in this evening. In the meantime, hope everyone has a great Friday!

checking in real quick so can't stay long but want to give a huge shoutout to John and this weekend's race-his first since his surgery so many months ago!! You go John! We will be waiting with bitten down fingernails to hear how you do! Remember, no matter what your time, the fact that you entered and finish is what is important and makes you a winner in my book. There will be other opportunities to work on shaving seconds off. Oh how I wish we could all be down there to cheer you on! Maybe we can have one big Skype conference call on your iphone as you run :H!! No Iphone? that's OK, we'll be in your head encouraging you all the way!

Will be back later today to address everyone. Work is slow and boss is away! :bananacomputer:

Marvelous Magnificant March - week 2

I'm having a quick break from the admin, a ricecake with peanut butter & fennel tea, and a lurk to see how everyone is. Well the lovely sunny morning has passed by quite quickly and we now have lashing rain and sleet brrrrrr it looks very cold out there now. The scenes from Japan make me realise how fortunate I am though, my heart goes out to them.

I go to a weekly yoga class and love it and it is not an easy option at all, it can be hard work but it is very relaxing and very good for you, I love the breathing/meditation part at the end. Infact I think I'll do some this weekend, I was planning some walking but if the weather isn't too good that might be difficult.

I've managed to get a lot accomplished this morning also put on a washing and hoovered inbetween so I am feeling that I'll be a bit ahead of the game for the weekend with a reduced amount of housework to do. Sometimes it seems to take over the weekend and I live alone unfortunately I think I have inhereted my Mums cleaning gene.

Right enough skiving I must get back to work.

                          Good morning Marchers!

Still no sun but at least the rain has stopped - geez! I need to go let my kids out to play - hope they haven't pecked each other to death overnight

Dewdrop, hope you are feeling better. Don't let the housework weart you out.

                          Greetings to everyone!
I will be back a little later after I check on the kids.

My good friend's son, DIL & 6 month old baby just moved to Hawaii 2 weeks ago for a 3 year deployment. I pray they find a safe place to ride out the tsunami.

Rustop-It certainly is a worry with the way mother nature is changing. It's like she is angry with us..Australia, New Zealand and now Japan. Even the seasons are chinging here in the UK.

Jolie and Rusty- Me too! I thought the weight would drop off me but I have actuelly put on more weight. I do know that alcohol dehydrates you so I maybe retaining more water...or it may be the over ginging on biscuits. ahem.

                            Rusty whats a HCG diet?

Dew I do like cleaniness. I love my house when its clean and in order. ..unfortunately I have had to relax a bit because my BF and my six year old son would wreck all my good work in a matter of minutes.

rebirth - I didn't lose a single pound when I quit drinking either then I quit smoking less than 2 months later & instantly put on 13 pounds :upset:
I lost 11 pounds last year after my husband walked out but put 10 pounds back on since Christmas. The whole weight thing is just ridiculous & it gets worse as you age - believe me
Right now I'm just trying to not worry too much about it

Lav I believe you! I quit smoking and put on weight..then had a child and put on more weight..now battling with more weight gain. It does get harder as you get older.

I use to be 14 lbs lighter in my early twenties. Oh well
