Marvelous Magnificant March - week 2

Congratulations John what a way to mark your 8 incredible months, you really are an inspiration around here. I hope that you are very proud of yourself. Chill I haven?t had time to say how pleased I am for you that you have the security of staying in your lovely home for another 18 months. You have the time now to sort out your future, make plans and the right decisions, your guardian angel is watching over you. And you get to go see Wayne in person!!

    Shelley
I am so happy to see you back among your friends, it?s a difficult path we are on and we are all only one drink away from a relapse. Keep posting and ask for support whenever you need it :l Rusty
you and I are very fortunate that we have a great relationship with our Mums, mine is my best friend and she means the world to me and I am so grateful that she is still around.

I?ve been quite fortunate on the weight front, I lost 12lbs when I stopped drinking, put some on over the Xmas holidays but have managed to get it back off + another 2 so that?s a stone (14lbs) in total and I?m only another 7lbs off my weight in my twenties. I actually feel this is a good weight for me and don?t want to lose any more at the moment, I feel quite healthy and would like to stay at this weight for a while. I also haven?t had the sugar addiction that others seem to suffer from, I have never had a sweet tooth always hankering after the savoury foods ie olives, pate, cheeses so I don?t know if that has a bearing on it or not. I do, though, love ice cream and did eat a few tubs when I first went AF but now that?s just a treat, infact it?s a good few months since I bought any (I feel a treat coming on!).

Hi to Mario, Cassia, Rustop, Sooty, Lav, Jolie, Rebirth, Mr G, Papmom and everyone else. I can?t believe we will be starting week 3 shortly, where has the month gone!!

    Dewdrop
Enjoy today - there will be no other one quite like it....

Marvelous Magnificant March - week 2

      Hey everyone,
Spring is definitely here. Planted spinach, collard greens, pansies and alyssum today. Moved around so much over the past 8 months. Am looking forward to staying put for awhile. Plus teaching again and earning some $ is really a treat.

John, what a great time!! Have u done a full marathon?

Dew, don't answer if you don't want to but HOW OLD ARE YOU?? Im', 60 and still don't have any grandkids. And Lav, don't you have another one coming up soon?

      Anyone heard from LBH?

Chill, I will personally come over and strangle Mr. McLibra. Love that whole mind set of "you've been sober for awhile, now you can drink..". Lost track awhile. Are you staying in Portugal?

Sooty, Rustop, Rusty,Rebirth,Pap, I've missed you guys. Wonderful to know that you are all there for me on the other side.

Well done Paguy on your fantastic accomplishment's! What a brilliant symbolic tie in your run is with your 8 month sobriety mark. Keep it going!

Thank's for sharing that pic of me on stage last easter, Chilli. What to wear this easter? Decision's, decision's!

Have a positive week everyone, and great job on 1 week sober Sped. Keep it going.

          Good evening Gang!

Oh, the weight is stuck on me for now but I'm trying to not get crazy about it - yet! There is enough to worry about right now. Dewdrop, congrats on your weight management

Shelley, sounds like you had a good day! I'm not so sure if I can do any gardening this year. The YB sold the tiller last Fall when I had the yard sale - wonderful. I might force myself to hand dig a small garden, I don't know.

Had the kids here for dinner, nice. I wasn't quick enough on the camera - I missed the opportunity to get a pic of Lily while she was awake!!! So I had someone take a pic of my new Polish Chicken T shirt :H:H

It's rather obnoxious but I like it

            Hey Folks:

Believe it or not, I completely FORGOT today was my 8 month AF anniversary. I thought of it earlier this week but it escaped me today. And YES, it was a great day for me on both fronts. THANK YOU for your warm wishes. I greatly appreciate it.

Sped - No, I have not run a full marathon yet. Today was my 3rd half-marathaon that I've run. I am contemplating running the Philadelphia marathon in November. I am supposed to run a 5K next weekend and then a 10-mile race in Phila on May 1st. I turn 57 in May and my goal is to run a full marathon by the time I reach 58....

Traveling back home tomorrow... planning on getting a very good night's sleep tonight.

Hoping you all have a peaceful evening...
            John

Hey ho to Chill, Cassia, Dew, Sooty, Star and anyone I missed!

The change of clocks really threw me today!! I felt like I was playing catch up all day! Just got bac from my sisters where we celebrated my nephew's 19th birthday. He's such a cool kid! My brother and his family made the trip in from Amherst so I got my Nater fix. Great food, conversation, sillyness. Ahhh, life is good!!

Marvelous Magnificant March - week 2

                Good morning, friends,
I've decided to start posting with this group, because I need to go AF now for health reasons: I've developed symptoms of GERD. Alcohol is on the list of things I can't eat, also chocolate, caffeine, high-fat foods and tomato products. I've been drinking moderately for the past three years pretty successsfully, but now it is time to quit.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

                  Good morning everyone

:welcome: Sunbeam. This is a great group. Keep posting and tell us a bit about yourself. It seems its not just alcohol abuse we all have in common. Lots of animal lovers/pet owners here, exercisers (walking, running, yoga, agility training etc). There is always something going on and you learn so much. People have their ups and down. We help pick up the one's who have fallen and run after the one's who are ahead of us and doing so well. John - Congratulations on the 8 months, wonderful.

Lav - loved the t-shirt. Looking forward to the next picture of Lily. It's amazing how much they change in the first few months. I took a photo of my 2 every week on the day they were born and have an album for the first 16 weeks. Lovely to look back on.

Short week here. Thursday is St. Patrick's Day so it is a national holiday. Lots of places, schools etc. have given Friday off as well so it's a super long week-end.

Hope everyone has a great AF week.

Welcome sunbeam! Well done on moderating three years successfully. Were you a very heavy drinker before that? I still drink every now and again but even a few drinks makes me tired the next day. I do see myself giving it up for good in the future.

P3 you had me in a panic as I thought I had forgotten about the clocks! I dont need to change them till the end of the month. phew

Who is watching the news on Japan? It's horrific! And I am very worried about those nuclear plants? Can radiation move across the ocean to the other side of the world??

Marvelous Magnificant March - week 2

Thanks for the welcome, rustop and rebirth. Before joining MWO, I was more of a binge drinker, not a heavy daily drinker. I got down to having just a couple of glasses 1-2 times per week, and did over 2 mos. initially AF, but never really got my drinking down to just occasionally, which was where I wanted to be. Well, that's all past anyway.

I work 3 days/week in health care, am an avid gardener, have a lovely rescue dog, and a loving husband of over 30 years, no kids. I ran a gardening thread here summer of 09. Bring on any gardening questions, I love to talk about that.

Rebirth, I'm not sure, but I don't believe those radioactive clounds travel long distances. They evacuated people within 12 miles of the sites. It's still scary though. Plus over a million people without drinking water - yikes!

Marvelous Magnificant March - week 2

                          Good morning Marchers!

Good to see you here Sunbeam!
Health reasons are at the top of the list of reasons to go AF. Personally, my B/P has been much improved since I quit although I am still on meds. Hope you feel better soon

Papmom, nice you enjoyed your family BD yesterday! Is your nephew working or in college?

Rustop, I can't imagine what a party Ireland must put on for St Patrick's Day
I will always have fond memories of my visit there nearly 8 years ago!

Rebirth, the news out of Japan is so sad. I'm thinking of adding embroidered T shirts, etc. to my ebay store with a Japan relief logo & donate a % of the proceeds to the American Red Cross. I did that after the Katrine Hurricane disaster here in the States & was about to raise a good deal of money. Natural disasters are frightening - you can only be so prepared.....

Looking forward to sunshine & longer daylight this week - good for the soul

                          Travel safely today John!

                            Good morning to all!

I am still in Florida, finally finding access to a computer. It is so warm and beautiful here, I am loving it. No alcohol for me, just too much food with going out to dinner every night. Oh, well, nobody is perfect.

Sped, so happy to have you back, it is great you are back with your husband emotionally and physically, wanting to be stable for a time. I bet that will help with the AF desire. I have restarted numerous times, so have many of us, so please don't feel anything but hopeful.

John, great job on the run, you look so healthy in the picture you posted, hope you enjoyed your time in the warmth.

Will be home and back to normal on Wednesday, will post then.

Wishing all an great AF day.

I have been posting on the newbies thread and love that one too. MWO is really helping me get through my first AF days.
