I wondered the same thing, Lav????

I am trying to get my tax stuff ready for my brother the grumpy accountant. I had a pretty productive day yesterday because I stayed home. It is snowing again today and I'm thinking I may do the same today!

Hello to everyone else as they check in today!:h

Long day today - cycling to work rest of week - starting to feel my muscles coming back with exercise - lost no weight though last week - but put none on either, so I guess that's progress - ate out 4 times last week!

anyway - pottering - evening on sofa with cats - looking forward to skating tomorrow- loving being AF!music festival at weekend - last 3 times I've been I've been sober so no worrying there - zoom zoom

Hi Fabbies! Zoom Zoom. Got back to my lifetime maintenance weight range at Weight Watchers today.

Oh. And no AL today, that's for sure. The only thing I would gain by drinking is a bigger ass. Everything else would be a loss, that's for sure.

                  Hey Ab-Fabbers,

Speaking of bigger asses, I can't stop eating chocolate! It's a substitute drug, huh? Today I've "only" had three Lindt dark chocolate truffles. Wondering if I can "moderate" chocolate consumption or if I need to go cold turkey. I did 8 weeks without sugar last spring, while also staying AF, so I know it's possible. But I also know the cravings for chocolate are there for a reason, and wonder if I don't give in to them will the alcohol cravings return?? Does L-Glut decrease sugar cravings, too? Anyone know?

Be well, everyone! Happy sober Tuesday.

                  Sara

P.S. I keep forgetting to respond to the comments from a while back about SMART meetings. I was really sorry to hear about peoples' negative experiences. I'm sure the style, atmosphere and focus varies a lot from one meeting to another. I haven't heard any AA bashing at all at the one I go to. The focus is on using Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (Albert Ellis, basically "thinking rationally") to learn how to cope with urges and stress without drinking. It's a little bit like group therapy, and since I'm a therapist, it's kind of hard not to just play that role, and to remember that I can ask for help too! But overall, so far, it's been a good experience. If nothing else, it helps to say to a big group of people, once I week, "I had a problem with alcohol. I've now been sober for ___ weeks, and I want to stay this way." Saying it's a problem is really important for me, since I have so often tended to minimize it in my mind.

Hi Sara! L-Glut should definitely help you with sugar cravings too. I think the key is taking enough of it. Our own Deter is the one who I recall taking in terms of teaspoon fulls and grams. I enjoyed Julia Ross's book "The Diet Cure" and her discussion of all the amino acids that can fall short, and affect cravings, moods, sleep, etc. A bit more detail than the MWO book.

I'm so glad you are here to share your positive experience with SMART groups. People need to know that each group is different and that one never knows until you check it out!!! I too fink it helps to admit my alcoholism on a regular basis. I cannot afford to forget.

ditto dat Doggygirl L-Glut is da bomb for bustin' a cap in the sugar monsta's ass

                        LOL

I just crack myself up sometimes. ok, composing myself....

one rounded teaspoon of bulk powder L Glutamine is approx 6 grams. to break a bad sugar or alcohol craving a dose of 12 to 15 grams may be needed. just dump it into a small amount of juice or into a smoothie and you're good to go. it's also a helpful nutrient for rebuilding intestinal wall strength and for generation of muscle and fat burning. it's good stuff!

I take 2 grams of L-glut a day. From the sound of it I should up it.

Hey all-just back home from a marathon commute-no idea why it was a parking lot out there at that hour but I got off the highway as soon as I could and took back roads the rest of the way home. Even got a 511 text about "congestion" on my route but I didn't believe it due to the hour! When am I going to learn that the government doesn't lie? :H
I was getting home late because tonite was ZUMBA nite!! I do love this class! Of course I feel like the most uncoordinated bozo there but I try hard not to look in the mirror and keep my eyes on the instructor.

DG-congrats on getting back down to your goal weight!! That's fabulous!!

Sarah-I take 2000 mg of L-glut in capsule form daily. Once in the am and once in the pm. I had stopped taking it and my sugar cravings spun dangerously out of control. I was posessed!! Look back on some of the threads from Jan and Feb-I was a whoopie pie junkie!! Now I'm much better and the cravings are pretty much gone. I have a low points "dessert" every nite with my tea before bed and that is it. I have no desire to partake anymore in the candy and donuts etc that continually find their way into my office and I can't tell you what a relief it is! Now maybe I can drop some of this weight!

                            Deter-you crack us up too!!

hey Bear and Lav-Lav send some of that 50 degree weather my way K?

OK, gotta get some food in me before I faint. Just wanted to pop in before I crash for the nite.

Biggest Loser tonite too-missed it last week!

                              Good evening guys!

Thanks for all the updates on the LGlut. I need to keep taking it. I'm not sure if it really does anything but maybe it takes time to build up in the system? Anyway, I'll fish out my bottle of it and start again tomorrow.

Have a great rest of the night all! I'm off to watch the end of Biggest Loser too I need some weight loss inspiration!
