Good morning all and Happy Daylight Savings!

It was such a beautiful weekend this weekend I was outside all day both days enjoying Florida for a change! I planted two trees -- a grapefruit and a Key Lime and a bunch of herbs in my garden.

I read yesterdays posts this morning -- sounds like you're all doing great! Lav, keeping those chickens busy! Cassia, good luck with your search in New York! You sound determined! Personally I'm trying to think of ways to STOP working so much! :H

Speaking of which I guess I better stop procrastinating and get moving...I've got auditors waiting for me at the office this morning....ugh.

AF Daily - Monday March 14th

Good Morning Abbers!

Everyone's sounding cheery this morning. Yay! I've got a little "life after quitting" story for you this morning.

Yesterday Hubby and I took the boys to a rather seedy seaside town on the North Shore (MA) where we stopped in at a gay bar/cafe that had "family karaoke". (Well, truth be told, we didn't just stop in, I insisted upon it because I have always wanted to do karaoke, but never had). My 11 year old was appalled at the thought of his mom singing in public, but Hubby encouraged me as did my younger two. So in we went, nice, friendly crowd...nothing the kids shouldn't see. Hubby ordered a beer, and I had a diet coke and signed up to sing my song. I was thinking, "I never did this drunk. It's really the kind of thing one might want to be drunk to do. If one were a drinker, which I'm not." I really wanted to do it sober, because it would be this little piece of evidence to me that I don't need booze anymore. Not even to do something silly and fun and possibly publicly humiliating.

And then my moment came. I got up there, the music started, I swayed to the beat and began, tentatively at first, but with growing confidence, to sing a Patsy Cline song; "I Go Out Walking, After Midnight..." After the first few lines, I wasn't singing tentatively, I was belting it out with a passion. I gotta say, it was a blast. I felt a little nervous at first, but then I relaxed into it, and was uninhibited, happy and sort of amazed that I was doing this sober. And then, of course, the crowd went wild...

I just had to share this with the Ab Fabbers. There is life after sobriety, after all! But then, you all knew that.

Way to go Sarah!! Most excellent! That took guts, confidence and hutzpah! A seedy town on the North Shore? I didn't think that existed :H!!

Cassia-good luck on your US trip. I have no doubt you will find what you are looking for. I just wish you weren't 4 hours and so jam packed with things to do-I would love to meet you!! Maybe when you move her permenently!!

sara, that sounds so awesome! Good for you!

I am also tired but I am happy to be awake early am ready to face the day. I had a rough weekend (depression wise - making stupid choices) and my father is pretty much ready to disown me (again). We don't have a great relationship, never had and he doesn't understand depression at all. He'd prefer to just yell at me and tell me to get my s### together. Oh well, that's him, I have to accept and deal.

Looking forward to my therapist appointment today and I'm planning to have a good day and get some long forgotten items on my to do list completed. First stop is going to be finding some Mondavi colouring books - apparently they are very therapeutic and I love to colour.

Mondali coloring books! They are a celtic type book which is used for relaxation coloring - like stained glass windows kind of things - all lines run together and they are used to create a calming within those who color them - figured I would give them a try!

Lave--I like your chicken shirt. I am going to get some chickens this spring--just a few--to eat. Maybe some layers later. I've never done that.

Jenny--I had a really hard time getting out of my bed this morning, and seriously considered climbing back in. I do like this time change--once my body adjusts. It is so nice to have some extra daylight in the evenings as the weather gets nicer!

Cindi--if you are lurking, thank you so much for your thoughtful post which I printed out by the way. I so appreciate your input....:h
Anyway.....MY SON MADE THE HONOR ROLL THIS QUARTER!!!! I can't stop smiling. This kid was struggling to get a C in most classes. He was failing. Now he has all A's and B's! I can't believe the difference in him!

Lvt - awesome news about your son! Many congratulations...I hope he continues to thrive!

Uni - I am sorry to here about the crap with your dad. You are right though, if you cam accept who he is and move on, things will be better. I had to do that with my dad. It was a hard road but we have a great relationship today.

Mylife - thanks for getting us started. I would love to work less...just gotta keep buying that lotto ticket.

Hey p3 - yeah, we should definitely meet up when I move back permanently. It would be awesome to meet you. I love your energy!

Hey also to Jenny, rebirth, lav, Sara, oners and mario. Please forgive me if I forgot anyone. I am on my iphone and it's not easy to jump back and forth.

Not much in cassland today. Worked too much. Gossiped too much. Let myself get wound up. But no drinking thoughts so a success really. I am so excited for my ninety days. Sorry, will stop mentioning it.
