Marvelous Magnifcant March - week 3

Hello from the Desert, all Marchers! Now that you have gotten up off the floor from the shock of hearing from me, I have to say that reading these words at the start of this March week is sheer bliss. I am OK, it just took much much longer for me to regain my strength than I thought it would when I last logged on....almost a month ago? I am still proudly AF, having passed 90 days (for the whatevereth time, but this feels quite different- I'm channeling you, Lav).
Hello to all newcomers that I don't know yet, I look forward to meeting you. Hello to all dear old friends here - I can't wait to catch up on some of your news, I'm sure I'll never quite get caught up, but will try. Lav - I take it that one baby arrived? Chill - you sound good, I have been so worried about you. Dill - how lovely to hear that serenity in your voice. Rustop and PapMom, my northern twins, hope you are getting a little warmth coming your way now. PA - did you do a big run recently - how terrific...

Sorry for those I missed - More soon, scout's honor ---

      Good Morning Marchers
Cyn! How wonderful to see you here and to hear you passed 90 days AF :goodjob:
I hope you are back as a regular, we miss your input.

Dill it's good to see you too and thanks for the quote. I also like "The only real mistakes are those from which we learn nothing"

Paguy - I love your phrase "eliminate alcohol from my diet"! I'm going to use that one, it sounds much better than "given up" which indicates we are going without. I constantly work at improving my diet and eliminating all things which are not healthy for me.

Our weather has been unseasonally cool but today is looking better so I may just get out on my bike. I'm attending a seminar tonight with my boss and will need to practice looking like I understand what it's all about. :H

        Good Morning Marching Band,

Mario-great to see you here! Welcome also to Sunbeam and all our other newcomers...my apologies for not welcoming you all individually.

Paguy-This is a very belated congratulations on a successful run and 8 months AF!:goodjob::h I think I read on a previous post that you have some race pictures and would so appreciate it if you could post a link for me. What an incredible feat to say no to your favorite drink after your victory....but that's you, John, tough as nails and in a very good way.

Dill-thank you for posting another wonderful post. You sound so at peace with yourself.

Cyntree-great to see you back! Did you have surgery....it sounds like you are recovering from something traumatic? I know you were moving but I didn't know if there was something else, too. Congratulations on your more than 9 months AF time!:goodjob:

I haven't been posting or lurking much, friends. I have been working extremely long hours and studying for my exam. I am exhausted, but I am maintaining my rigorous exercise routine and am staying AF without the support of Baclofen.

Have a wonderful AF humpday, everyone!

          Good morning all...

I'm back and kind of fighting depression, I love warm weather and sunshine. Back to work for me today, and that in itself is a struggle. PAguy, I too will be digging myself out of the hole of time off.

I'd never been to Florida before AF, and it was peaceful and really gave me time to appreciate everything I experienced. Went out to dinner with older family members who told stories that were clearly separated between time drinking and AFTER DRINKING. Really interesting. These individuals are fine people, who had divorced and messed up lives. After drinking, stable and fruitful lives. They did not get into details as to AA or what they did and as it was a dinner out, I could not ask. However, it appears that I am just following the family pattern of realizing that enough is enough. No staying out late and feeling sick, just up early, a walk, shop, pool time, then out to dinner with lots of talking and visiting. Appreciating the colors and warmth.

I also visited my daughter and at dinner (out again!!) she shared that a friend of hers had given up all substances, including caffeine. This young person was experiencing anxiety and it sounds like a bit of depression. Had been told by our culture that it is OK to smoke, drink, etc., and realized it was not working for him. A great story. He is struggling with peers who party and will not attend a bachelor party as that is no longer his lifestyle. PAguy, you are strong to be with individuals who are drinking when you are not. I wonder if the friendship will continue? So far, my experience has been that people are uncomfortable if alcohol is not shared by all. Silly really, but part of the pattern.

Welcome to all new people, and hi to the regulars. Have a great AF day.

                Hi everyone

The people of Japan are in all our thoughts and prayers. It seems to just get worse and worse for them. I heard today that they are having to deal with snow on top of everything else.

Cyn - so good to see you back and congratulations on your AF run.

Been a busy day. I met a friend of mine for coffee this morning. She lost her 9 year old son to cancer 5 years ago and it does not seem to get any easier.

Not going to the parade tomorrow. The girls are but its too much hassel for me. Trying to get parking and crowds everywhere. Hopefully there will be no trouble. I am always anxious in case something kicks off and they are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Think I will go on a 2 hour hill walk with a friend of mine instead, I will enjoy that a lot more.

                Happy hump day to everyone.

                  Good Evening Marching Friends,

A cheery Top 'O The Evening To Ya to Mario, fellow Irishperson....I will be celebrating St. Patty's Day AF tomorrow....unusual for a fair Irish lassie like me. You're probably asleep right now....maybe with visions of shamrocks dancing in your head.:H. PSSSST... did you know I have a crush on G? Yup. It's true. Hey, I have to ask you....why did you join our thread? Were you looking for Thread Diversification? Huh, huh? I'm the editor of the MWO Daily Mail and I need a news story by 5:00 p.m. Thursday so please let me know.:H

John-thank you for your post-race picture of you on the beach. Wow! Impressive. You look like I imagined. Delicious.

Rustop-hello to another fair lassie. On a more serious note....what a sad story about your friend's son. No, I don't think it gets easier, from what I'm told. People who lose a child "just get by" rather than their pain getting any easier. I'm glad you're her friend and I know she is grateful for your friendship, too.

Chill-hello, fair lady! How are you?

Star-I'm so proud and happy for you that you had an AF vacation in Florida...you are one of the pillars of our happy little thread.

Sunbeam-Yup, menopause sucks! I'm in the midst of it. SIGH!

Lav-could you please weave an Easter basket for Mr. G to jump out of for me on Easter? I would be so grateful. Thank you! You are no doubt counting the days til grandson #2 arrives.

                  LBH-CHECK IN, PLEASE!:l

Hi to Dill, Rebirth, Sooty, Shelley, Dewdrop, Pap, Cassia, Cyn, Mylife, Jolie, and anyone I have missed!

This is an 'old' photo of Lily taken when she was 8 days old. One of her Dad's sisters is a professional photographer - I love the photo.

Marvelous Magnifcant March - week 3

                        Hi my marvellous, magnificent friends.

Sorry I haven't been around much - still causing havoc and mayhem so it's all good. :H

So the prep for the states is going well. Got an unexpected appointment today with my current employer but at their NYC office. I had emailed them a couple of months ago to no avail so wrote it off. Then, I got into work on Tuesday and there was an email sitting. AWESOME! So we will see.

Not much else happening - my best friend has also decided to quit drinking (if i have told this story already, then humour me) She isn't a big drinker - funny - none of my friends are really big drinkers now since I quit - I think I might have been the ringleader. Anyhow, she has been getting kinda depressed even after a few drinks and decided to give it up for lent. I told her to give it 30 days and then see how she feels - see..I am learning! Anyhow, we had a nice weekend - she came round on Sat and watched a dvd with me and mr lynne and then we went hillwalking on Sunday. She thanked me for such a nice weekend and said she feels so much better and that af is defo the way forward. I told her that she has to do what works for her and I am not going to get all sanctimonious on her. I am pleased though - I hate seeing her hurting.

So, I need to go back and read the thread properly to see what y'all have been up to.

                        Much love

Lav-that picture of Lily is priceless! I can tell it was done by a pro. Wow....I would have it framed and hung in a very special place.:h

Chill-WHAT TIME DO YOU GO TO BED? It's 6:37 p.m. here and I am ready to take a shower and crash. I got up at Rusty O'clock (2:45 a.m. today)/ Yes, I feel frisky because finally I can post and be myself. I've been holding all these feelings in all week....I have been quiet, reserved, polite....ugh, it's like wearing a pair of pants that are wayyy too tight!:H Phew. Glad that's over.

I leave for Michigan tomorrow. Fortunately, I have the weekend off.

On a more thoughtful note...my mom is teaching me finger spelling so I can communicate with her deaf clients when we go bowling in April. I've decided that this monthly social event with my mom's deaf and blind clients will be my volunteer activity and a way to give back. They treat me like I'm porcelain...these people always seem so glad to see and/or hear me. They make MY day, more than I make theirs, I'm sure.

Hi Cassia, great to see you, and I am thrilled for you that the job is moving in the direction you've been hoping for. :goodjob: on a being a positive influence on your friend, too. Alcohol's effect of making one feel better is soooo temporary, isn't it? I admire you in so many ways.
