Lav what a fabulous picture - she looks so alert and happy. I want one :H
How old is she now about 2 weeks? - she'll be smiling any day now, you must catch that on camera and make us all gooey.

I've been for a walk and blown away the cobwebs, just thought I'd pop back and see what you'd all been up to.

Have a good Spring Sunday gang

            Hi guys,

I've just posted an explanation on the General Forum but I've had a drink over the weekend and I'm feeling pretty down and a bit blue about life at the moment. It's not the end of the world but I'm disappointed with myself.

Marvelous Magnifcant March - week 3

Happy 1st day of spring Marchers!

Haven't been here since Thursday - my daughter kidnapped my laptop and took it on a roadtrip - missed all of you but proved to myself that I was okay on my own - didn't like it much but thankfully never gave AL a thought this weekend.

Dew - :l please don't be too hard on yourself - it's happened to me as well but you know what I thought? I am so much better where I am today less that one drink even though I knew it was risky. You are back here posting and that's the important thing! We are all here for you friend. Hope your mood will be lifted soon!

Lav - Lily is just beautiful and I absolutely love that name! Glad to see her posing for a picture with her eyes open - hey - I think she's even smiling at you

Star - I like what you said about feeling peaceful - that's really how I feel too.

PAguy - the moon was awesome last night - is it going to be like that for a couple more nights?

Sooty, Mario, Cassia - hope you are all enjoying this 1st day of spring - little cool compared to Friday and Saturday here but the sun is out so I'll take it.

Star - sorry I've been away since Thursday - why are you leaving? Hope it's only temporary as I enjoy your posts.

Well - off to see what else I can accomplish today before the work week begins again tomorrow.:yuk:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Hi Sooty - Lily is 3 weeks old & not exactly smiling yet. She usually has a super serious look on her face

Dewdrop, hope you are OK. Stay close, we really do care :l

Jolie, I still lend everything to my kids, car, money when needed, etc but never my laptop - NOPE

                  Hey all,
Dew, the beauty of this website is forgiveness and unconditional love. Just hang in there and keep posting. And Miss Rusty, sorry no break for you. You can manage a 5 min. post per day. I am trying to keep that commitment. Just a check in. For me it feels like being responsible to other members.

                  Lav,
75 degrees, yuk. What is Hayhouse??

                  Star,
I read an article in the AARP magazine about going back to school. This woman was 52 and wanted to become a nurse. Went back to school and loved it.
                  Also, I love Chobani yogurt.

John, my 2 younger sons ran the LA Marathon today. Son "2 in 2 hours and 27 minutes. Son "3 hours and and 27 min. Don't you wish. They are 27 and 25 respectivlely.

Feeling a bit sorry for myself, need to pull up my big girl's pants and just get on with life.

                    Hope you are all well.

Marvelous Magnifcant March - week 3

happy sunday Marchers!! Can you beleive we only have one week left until April Showers? It seems like yesterday we were going back and forth about a name for this month!!

Lav-OMG Lily is sooooo adorable!! I wonder if my nephews will end up getting married and having kids before I get too old and tottered. Of course they are only 19 and 17 so I can't be too impatient!!

Yes Rusty, please take just 5 min a day to check in and let us know you are still with us. You will do fine on your exam but I do understand the need to really buckle down when you have free time.
On boats-my dad and mom owned a sailboat from the time I was 16 until just a few years ago when my dad sold his last boat. Now he's thinking of getting another one at the young age of 84!! I can tell you that old saying didn't appy to him, at least not the last part. He was quite sad the 2 times he had to sell a boat and not get another one right away. Sailing is how we spent our vacations once we got the camping out of the way. I would have loved to have met a sailor in my younger days (or even now but he'd have to own a very large boat to accommodate all the pets:H). My criteria was pretty tough however-must have grown up around boats like my dad did; active in Power Squadron; preferably a sailor not a PBer.
but my life didn't follow the water when I left college and I got farther and farther away from boating as I got older except for the occassional weekend or cruise with my folks (or just dad after mom passed). It definitely is a very expensive hobby and not for the inexperienced.

Dew-Although it's a huge temptation when I'm feeling blue, like today, I know deep down that AL doesn't change those feelings (maybe for a few minutes) and like you, I feel worse not better the next day. I have other tools in my aresonal for when I feel down and they are much longer lasting than AL: take a walk (with or without dogs), hop online and let my MWO friends know what's happening with me, retail therapy (my personal favorite!!) or just some good old onion peeling and introspection-why am I feeling blue? What is going on in my life that is different then a day ago?
Anyway, just some things to think about next time you find yourself in that kind of mood. Oh, also, I know that one drink wouldn't do it for me. It's the whole bottle until I pass out or nothing and that is the MAJOR reason I don't turn to AL anymore no matter what.

SPED-congrats to your 2 boys on the marathon results!! Absolutely fabulous!!

Hey Jolie, Cassia, Rustop, Chill, Star and PaGuy. Hope all is well with everyone who hasn't checked in today.

Well, I have been a busy busy bee! I took Friday off and worked out doors in the morning and inside in the afternoon. I cleaned out the fish pond and YES!! All 8 fishies are alive and thriving by the size of them!! Cleaned up around the pond too. Can't wait for the ornamental grass to start growing again!
I had a shot of creativity in my office again. I'm getting very close to taking down the nursery border and painting. Still need to get a bookcase but for now its OK.

The foam couch that I brought up from the basement a while ago had been covered with 2 very cheap pink fleece blankets that pilled like crazy (and DD loves to eat the fuzzies!!). I also had that green plaid tab curtain on the window and my rubbermaid storage units were in the middle of the floor. I had gone to xmas tree shops and they had bamboo roll up shades on sale. I needed a topper for it and went searching the house. I had gotten rid of all my curtains. duh. But, in a blanket chest, I found a whole bed in a bag- sheets, pillowcases, shams and bedskirt (comforter too) that i had bought years ago before dogs when I used to entertain and have overnight guests. I took the pillowcases and made a valence for the shade. I took the fitted sheet and used it as a slip cover. the storage bins are covered by the flat sheet, the shams are self explanatory (also found extra pillows) and the bed skirt I cut down to fit the the couch. On top of the guazy part of the bed skirt is a beige towel that somewhat matches the beige in the sheets. So, for less than $10 I have a whole new office! As you can see the dogs LOVE their new bed. That's Mickey posing.

After I was done it was about 5pm and I decided we all needed a nice walk. Funny the difference a year makes! No way would I have loaded up the dogs for a walk at 5pm if I hadn't gotten AL out of my life! No sir, 5pm was Liquor Store time!!

Yesterday was the Nosework class for my LM (Guinness) and he was the star pupil!! We've never done this before but I think I'm hooked! Can't wait to practice with him. Finally LM has a job!!

After the class, my friend and I went to the Boat/RV show which was very disappointing in terms of volume and variety. Oh well, we got in and parked for free so nothing wasted. Nice to dream, that's for sure!! Then we went to her son's house to check out her 23' trailer we'll be taking up to NH for the agility trial at the end of April. Very nice actually (surprisingly so based on what her house looks like!!) Her son is going to give me a lesson on hooking it up and driving it with her truck. Yikes!!!!
Today was a bit cold in the beginning but got nicer as the day went on. I was on a mission to find some PVC piping and stakes so I can make stick in the ground weave poles plus the equipment to make another jump. Struck out on both accounts and it took me all afternoon to admit defeat but I did pick up some paint chips for the office. Now it's almost 5 and the day is gone. Laundry beckons as does preparation for the work week ahead. I didn't get to any of the other outside chores I was going to do and that makes me sad as next weekend is filled with dog stuff.

-Sped, EXCUUUUUSE MEEEEEE! You think I only spend 5 minutes to post????? HELLO!!! I spend at least 15 minutes thinking about what I'm going to say. Wow, so your boys are runners? Good genes. Got them from their mother. Hope everything with you and your husband is going well still. Did you two play "Connect The Shamrocks" on St. Paddy's Day?:H

Yup, Lav's right. I can't stay away from you guys. :-)

Lav-Little Lily Peanut is so beautiful!!! What a kissable face! I'm glad to see her smiling and she has her eyes open.

Dew-:l Don't beat yourself up. My gosh, there are so many worse things to think about. Move on, and like Shelley said, there's unconditional love, forgivenesss (Geez, Shells...you must have been a closet Catholic :H ) and support on this thread. Don't stress about it. I love your posts and read them carefully. I love this thread and I stay here because the attitudes on some of the people I USED to like and respect on the other threads have pissed me off lately. You know what....slips, hiccups, drinking, can happen to ANYONE!! And the arrogance of some people who have been AF for a year or two or more enrages me. The bigger your head gets with your AF time, the bigger the kick in the *ss is going to be if you drink....so leave your attitude behind, please.

Hi Cassia! I'm glad you're here. Wondering where you went. Nice to see you haven't left us.

A big shoutout of love to John, Jolie, Rebirth, Sooty (what songs are you working on?), Rustop, Cyn, Papmom, G, Mario, and everyone I may have missed...hope you've had a great AF Sunday!

                              Happy Spring!

What a delightful weekend it has been weather wise. A bit chilly to start this morning but lots of sunshine and clean air (at least I think it's clean) :H

Started my day with a quick 5K run. My time was 27:17 - a bit disappointing as I ran the same course 2 minutes faster last year. I know I have to kick it up a notch with my training. My aerobic endurance is fine but I really need to work on speed and strength. That will give me plenty to do over the next couple of months.

Sped - Your son's marathon run times are awesome! I am so envious but I have to remind myself that I am 30 years older than them. I guess I need to get used to the fact that my goal is to finish the race and not set any records. I am sure you are very proud of your sons as you should be.

Rusty - I know it's impossible for you to stay away from us so I expect to see you here, however briefly, every day!

Lav - Lily is down right adorable! How can you not smile looking at that beautiful face?

Dew - Sped said it best. This site is all about unconditional love and non-judgement. We are all in this together so please don't beat yourself up. Take care of yourself and as you said, put on your big girl pants and move on.

Papmom - You've had a busy couple of days. Glad to hear that you are doing well.

Making a modified version of Cassoulet for dinner this evening with chicken thighs and sausage. It's in the oven right now and smells delish! We'll be digging into that in another hour or so.

Well, folks, hope you all have a lovely weekend. Wishing you all a peaceful and restful Sunday evening....

Marvelous Magnifcant March - week 3

Whew! I just read a whole bunch of posts since my last one. I've been really busy since the weather has been been good enough to be out, plus we had friends for dinner yesterday. My husband cooked, and I had to get the house cleaned. It was a delightful evening, well worth the effort. My hubby is a great cook. After the guests left, hubby went out and took photos of that beautiful moon, then got up early this morning to take more.

I went to an indoor flower show Friday - great to see and smell all those blooms.

This was my first AF weekend in months - maybe last August? No problem, I have no desire to drink. Thanks for being here, everyone, should I need the support. I have no intention to drink again, but forever seems like a long time.

Pa guy, hubby made a cassolet a few weeks ago. A nice hearty winter dish.

Lav, is Lily your grandaughter? She's a beauty. My BIL thinks that all babies look like eggplants, but he hasn't seen yours.

Someone asked about my terragon a bunch of posts ago. I don't know the variety because it was given to me, what kind do you think has the best flavor?

Dewdrop, I bet you are just putting one foot in front of the other, just like before.

Papmom, great home deco job on the cheap. Love the colors.

Today I got the fence part-way up around my vegetable garden. It keeps the deer out, but I also use part of the enclosed area for yard compost. I have a compost bin in the back corner for yucky kitchen waste, but the yard stuff I keep right next to the veggies so I don't have to do so much hauling.

                                Take care all.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.
