Marvelous Magnifcant March - week 3

It's been a lovely weekend and I am happy to say that I saw the super Supermoon with clear, AF eyes.

About boats: yep, they're expensive. Of course, we bought a second hand boat, 1985 Searay. I think we spent $5,500 on it. And there was a bunch of stuff that needed fixing. Mr. Dill is handy and mechanically inclined, so it works for us, but otherwise we would have to pay someone and that would not make me a happy camper. It's a hobby for Mr. D though and we both enjoy being out on it.

Lav, my mints all seem to be coming back, except for the lime mint. I haven't seen any green there yet. I still have spearmint, peppermint and chocolate. I actually went out today to look, just for you!

Rusty, come on now. You know you can't stop posting. What would this thread do without you!!!:h

    Dew, hang in there.

    Peace and strength to all.
    Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

French tarragon Sunbeam is what I grow. I'll have to send some to John for his next Cassoulet
Lily is my new granddaughter, just 3 weeks old. My DIL is due April 5 but she is seriously tired & dragging already. Of course chasing a 2 year old doesn't help much :H

I got one car washed today the other will have to wait until I muster up the energy.

Shelley, good to see you here today. Congrats to your sons for their energetic times!

John you should be happy with yours as well. I'm not even sure I can walk that far anymore let alone run :H

Dill, I look everyday for any sign of Spring!!!! I think I'm getting desperate!

Hope everyone has a comfy AF night. Time to sit & chill for a while.

      Lav
      AF since 03/26/09
      NF since 05/19/09
Success comes one day at a time

Happy Spring, all. So good to hear from everyone -- Sunbeam, Jolie, Cassia what a pleasure to hear your voices, thanks for posting.

Rusty, seriously, you don't think that you are going to get away with not posting, do you? It would cause a small riot here (dignified, of course). PapMom - what a creative day you had in your office, and yes the pup looks extremely comfortable. Sorry you're feeling blue, maybe it was the crazy moon...
Sped, thanks so much for the committment to post, I am always so grateful to hear your voice. Dewdrop, don't you think of retreating - I don't think there is a single one of us who has not gone through this situation, we are always here for you, period. Star - glad to hear it is working out with your son - you so deserve the credit for hanging in there with him. Sending good 'new job' vibes to you. Chill, Rustop and Sooty - so glad that you saw the moon and have had nice walks. My walking is only with my dogs (no cliffs, sigh), but I am aware of the burgeoning spring. The birds this morning were particularly joyful: 'peterpeterpeterPETER!', 'brrrrrrrrrtrup!', and some ecstatic calling from a mockingbird-like winged creature that had such a remarkable repertoire that I didn't have a moment to memorize a single one of his calls...

Didn't see the moon here - very unusually it was cloudy here, so no sighting. But I think I have been suffering the effects of it - I have had frightening, bloody, scary dreams for a couple of weeks now, and I'm ready for that to be over. I wake up stressed out and exhausted...and immediately do a mental check to see if it is because I drank the night before, and I'm so grateful when I remember that's not the reason! (Who knows what the real reason is??)

Lav and Dill, the mint sounds divine, and the tarragon as well - love it in chicken salad. Yum. I made a classic spring dinner tonight for Mr Tree; poached salmon, haricots verts and small red potatoes with olive oil and garlic. Double yum.

As soon as I log off I'll remember all the other things I wanted to say to all of you, but in the meantime, please know how I value your thoughts. Thanks, and here's to a wonderful AF week to come.

          Good morning everyone

Had a lovely AF week-end so bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning. Did not get near the computer at all yesterday and from the last few posts can see that I have a lot of catching up to do.

Rusty - Dont you dare leave. Know how time consuming it is and there are times when I would love to address each of you individually but just dont have the time. However, I do try and pop in and keep up to date and am thinking of you all. Check in and even a one liner about Mr. G's g-string would be much appreciated! You are such a valuable part of this thread.

Dewdrop - From what I can gather you had a slip. There but for the grace of God go all of us. The one thing I will say is dont stay away. Your Al brain might try and convince you, sure feck it you are drinking why bother. I know from experience how much it helps just checking in. This thread in particular is so supportive and caring. Know you are kicking yourself but learn from it. From the outside looking in, I think your defences were down. You mentioned a virus a few weeks ago, you were travelling, tired etc. Al saw his opportunity and slipped in. A warning to all of us reading.

Have to go now as the doggies are waiting for their walk and getting impatient. Catch you all later.

            Monday morning....

A busy day ahead of me, I am grateful to have a job. I submitted another resume yesterday afternoon, it took some doing as I had to work with my laptop and connect with a site, but I did it!!! So, hope I hear something soon.

We had the storms last night, I was woken up with thunder and lightening, seemed like it went on for hours.

Rusty, glad you are back....just a few minutes is all we need. I agree with you about the boats, I figured they are an expensive hobby. My husband needs to be reigned in, and believe me, it will happen. He just gets excited about things and doesn't think things through or research the entire cost. Luckily, he listens to me and we never purchase a big item without checking with each other. A reason our marriage has lasted almost 28 years.

Jolie, it is Rusty who has talked about leaving, not me. I like to check in and get myself centered for the day. This is my personal support and outlet and I appreciate you and all on this thread for your unconditional support and forgiveness.

Dewdrop, please forgive yourself and keep going. I have restarted over 100 times, always functional, just creating my own personal hell. But, I have learned the skills and strategies that I need to be successful. We each have our own way to AFness. Some of us are successful right away, others moderate, some need time, like I did. I am just feeling better and better being AF. I think you are too, so listen to your heart. We are here for you.

Cyn, so good to have you back, loved your dinner menu, you are so creative. I noticed the birds chirping more too, although we are in different parts of the country.

Sped, your sons are super athletes. Wow, what great times. You sound good, it is great to have you back.

Dill, yeah, the boat idea is probably not a good one as neither of us can fix much. Good to hear you had a wonderful weekend. Is your springbreak soon?

PAguy, when do you exercise, before or after work? I need to start again, I have been our of my routine and it is a struggle to get back to it. Your cassoulet sounded delicious

            Lav, nice picture of Lily.

:hTo all, have a peaceful productive AF day.

Marvelous Magnifcant March - week 3

I?m checking in from work so I?ll be quick. Thank you so much for all your support, yesterday was a difficult day and night, I had a restless night with sweats, anxious, awake often, I also have a burning feeling in my chest (reflux I think) and have woken with a headache and dry mouth. Not good and a great reminder of why I don?t want to go down this route again and it has really grounded me. I have a lot to accomplish at work today and feel like a half shut knife. I am off early tomorrow for another trip to London back Thursday so I?m planning to take my running gear to keep active. I?ve been drinking loads of water but don?t feel the effect of it yet. I looked in the mirror this morning and can see the lines around my eyes and the dehydration in my skin, yuck.

Okay enough of the pity party ? it?s my fault and I?ll deal with it. I?ve been online to see if there are any Smart Recovery meetings locally but unfortunately there aren?t. I?m not too keen on AA but maybe I?ll rethink that over the next few days. I do think I have let my defences slip and can identify the triggers which is good, I think I had become a little complacent, you just never know when life will throw something at you and I now know I need to be prepared. I just need to ensure that this doesn?t develop into a complete relapse.

I bought a good book recently and read it last week when I was away, it?s called Spark! by Dr John J. Ratey & Eric Hagerman and explains the neuroscience behind how exercise will improve the performance of your brain. There are chapters on addiction, stress, anxiety, depression, ageing etc. If you are looking for the motivation to exercise this might just do it, it certainly motivated me.

Thanks friends :l you are my lifeline at the moment.

              Dewdrop :h
Enjoy today - there will be no other one quite like it....

If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together.. there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we're apart.. i'll always be with you.? ~Winnie the Pooh quotes

Hello Marchers, I thought this quote would be appropriate in light of Rusty suggesting that she was taking a break. I think this quote is true of each of us who have sincerely posted on this thread and have supported each other and been supported over these past couple of years. Members have stopped posting and and when they do, we miss their voices. But we still carry them with us, and the spirit of this thread has been woven into them. There may come a time that because of circumstances in our 3D worlds that we may not continue to post. But the love and concern will always be there, no matter what. I am very happy to have had the priviledge of knowing each of you.

It's a gray Monday, but warm. It's a nice Spring Day, which is fitting, as today is our first full day of Spring! It began here in Ohio at 7:21pm, yesterday.

Three cheers for an AF Spring! :grouptrophy:

                  Dewdrop, Cross post!

Hang in there. We have all been where you are (have so many times I couldn't count them) and know exactly how you feel. Please just learn from your slip and continue to move forward.:h
