Caper! Oh my. Sorry that happened in front of your child. But if you'll just focus, and mentally fast-forward to a future date, when you and your husband have sorted all this out, it will help you stay strong and sober.

Shelby, I hope he can understand that the initial need to hibernate, and totall focus on sobriety does eventually pass, and that right now he just needs to support your efforts. (or at least not get in the way of your efforts!) In the long run it will all be worth it.
Caper I love what you say about "short term pain for long term gain." I suppose the other option would be to keep on drinking which I guess would be "short term pain for long term.....more pain." In the long run you are doing the best thing for your family and for yourself. Hang in there! I really believe things will get better with a clear head and without the hangovers, etc. My decision making when I was drunk all the time was just .

For me the hibernating, the living small thing lasted 3 months! I just had to do it!
The only time I left the house was to go to the supermarket & you can't buy AL in the supermarkets around here. I think I went to the post office once & to a church sponsored craft fair - that's it!!!! I think that healing time is important. You need some time to build your strength & learn the word NO!!!

Hey ho fabbies!
Man, that spouse navigation is something, isn't it? It was probably a blessing that mine left me shortly after I quit drinking. While it felt traumatic at the time, in the bigger scheme of things it was for the best. Well, for me anyway. "Stick to your guns" and all that probably sounds easier said than done; but truly, navigating everything is so much better sober. Right girlies?
Tomorrow I go to the horse races and be the only one not drinking. I'll also be the one that feels the best tomorrow evening. :H I have a crustless crabmeat and portabello mushroom quiche in the oven to take. Gather up my sunscreen, hat, chair and umbrella AND my sparkling water, cranberry and lime and be all set to take off in the AM! I've never been one to bother with the AF wine & beer. Oh and my dollar bills for bets!
I BOUGHT THE FIREPIT! Now I just have to get it to the house. I paid a bit extra to have it assembled and it was still "on sale". I'll see if I can find a piccie!

Hi Everyone,
I'm beat tonight, after a long day of work and kids. But no thoughts of drinking, and I'm at peace with that.
Lav, Congratulations on TWO YEARS!!!

Greenie-that is one NICE looking chiminea!! You are going to LOVE it I think. Have fun at the races. Hope you win something!!
Lav-one hour and 15 min and counting but I don't think I'll make it to 12midnite. However, I don't have to leave until 11am tomorrow so I'll hop on as soon as I get up and send you a great big congrats!! I'm so excited for you!!
Sarah-great job getting through today. It does become easier especially if you keep in the front of your mind how good you feel sober and how horrible you felt hungover. :l
DG-your new exercise tapes sound like da bomb!! We'll be expecting piccies of your new buns and abs of steel. Ok not really but good luck with them and I'm sure you'll love the results!!
Just got back from a pampered chef party that was so much fun. I was the only one not drinking but you know, I didn't even notice it that much! I got to catch up with an ex colleague, eat some great food (way too much!!) and I did break down and buy one baking sheet that I hope I really use.
Now it's time for beddy bye so I can fresh for my 2 action packed days this weekend.
