he's thumbs up provided it's grass-fed full-fat unprocessed raw dairy. low fat, skim, etc is junk food and just a source of sugar (lactic acid) minus the lactase that's present for digestion only in it's raw form. fascinating stuff.

same for yogurt. naturally made, full-fat, fresh unflavored yogurt is very good. the stuff you get at the store in the little colorful plastic containers with foil lids with various flavors (chocolate, vanilla, etc etc) contains almost no live cultures and is junk food packaged in a clever way.

longwood looks amazing. I've made my peace with the desert but I do long for 'real' plants/trees/flowers etc.

          Deter,
Do you ever travel to the east coast?
Longwood is located south of Philly or north of Baltimore (whatever way you want to look at it)

I bought myself a season pass this year so I will go often & I get a discount in the cafe & gift shop I'm hoping to get the little ones interested too. My kids always like going there!

I make yougurt at home - yum!

Lav--I've been looking at how to make my own greek yogurt. Can you please share what you know?

I just got off the phone with my brother in law. Terry is ready to give up and be done. She is tired of fighting and I don't blame her. But damn, I don't want to let her go.
I'm going to head that way tomorrow am. I want to tell her to keep fighting, but I know that would be very selfish. So sad.:upset:

Lav you've posted that link before haven't you? I remember being really really wowed by someone's garden visit a while back. It HAD to be you. I'd for sure get a season pass if I lived anywhere near there!

                    LVT,

I am so sorry. Yes, we never want to lose our loved ones, do we? But, you are right. She is tired and probably has gone through so much pain that she knows it is time to let go.

Is she going to a hospice or staying at home?

Much love and strength to you,
                    Cindi

                      I'm so sorry about Terry:l
I quite imagine she's done her best to hang on for so long. Just let her know that you are there & love her. I'll keep both of you in my thoughts:l

Yes Greenie, I have posted the Longwood link before.......it's the only thing of real beauty around here. It's a great place to spend the day all year round & I plan to be a regular visitor!

                          Lav,

We have a botanical garden here that is pretty wonderful, too.

I missed "the" dogwood tree this year. It is over 100 years old. They rescued it from a home that was being demolished and moved it to the gardens.

It is pretty amazing. It is about 30' tall and full. When it blooms, there are blooms all the way to the ground. It is an amazing sight to see.

They have topiaries, ponds, trails with the different plants and trees marked.

They have demos and days for children's exhibits and learning. It really is amazing for a city of this size, 300,000. Last year we took the kids to the bird show. They had eagles, falcons, owls, buzzards who were all trained to fly back to the handler. The children loved having those birds fly right over their heads. So did I.

I have to renew. It is fairly expensive, but worth it, especially considering the money goes to keep the gardens up.

My daughter was married there in May. It was a beautiful wedding.

                          Love,
                          Cindi

Aww, now I am sad. I went to look it up to post a picture and found out the tree is dying and there is no hope.

It was 120 years old. 26' high and 48' wide.

The "grand old lady" of the gardens.

Here is a picture of her as I last saw her.
