April appreciation AF - week 3

Good morning and welcome to week 3

A very nervous Chill here and I haven't slept a wink. I don't know whether thats the anxiety or the OD of chocolate I consumed. Yes, I'm afraid I broke lent last night and ate about 350g of chocolate. I instantly felt ill and I have a horrendous sugar headache this morning :upset: Anyway it was better than picking up a glass of wine..... After 6 weeks my body is screaming and if anything it's a good reminder about how I don't want to feel.

      Hi all,

I have been a bit AWOL from the monthly abs threads lately so apologies. I am back with gusto and I have been lurking a bit so I know what's going on.

Chill - oh well! Never mind about the chocolate. Better that than wine! I read your good news about the apartment yesterday! Fingers crossed it all works out.

Mario - welcome back from Portugal. I hope you had an awesome time.

P3 - I LOVED the pink car and caravan picture! I also loved your advice and positive words to soanynon this thread. You are a godsend.

Lav - how are your beautiful grandchildren? Wjats the weather like on the east coast. Is summer going toake an appearance?

Dew - you sound so positive and happy since the last time we spoke! I am so pleased for you! It's the little things in life that bring us the most joy I find.

Apologies to anyone I have misses. I will do much better.

So, as you will be aware I have a lot of changes going on in my life. My flight is booked for 15th may, the flat will be on the rental market this week and I need to get the packers out to decide what the heck to do with the stuff we are taking.
It's all go. I was at my brother in laws wedding this weekend and it was great but I didn't really thow myself into festivities. I ain't going to lie, I dis envy people who got loose and were going crazy on the dance floor. I just couldn't do it. It was also a mixed occasion, I felt very sad as this was the last time I would see my husbands family again but so happy for the newlyweds. I also felt selfish for not being more up and at them.

So that's really it from me. Have an awesome day everyone!

Week three already!!! Good morning to all, I missed everyone.

Chill, what a lot going on for you. I find that change of any kind is so hard, it brings up so many emotions: anxiety, anger, depression, regrets, excitement, hope.... I have to comment on the chocolate intake. It is so amazing to me how sensitive the body is after giving up alcohol. Better chocolate than wine as you so well know. Over the weekend for me it was caffeine. It messed up my sleep and made me feel achy and out of sorts. Sending you :l

Dewdrop, what a lovely peaceful weekend. I think having peace and being outdoors, with family, with yourself, in an honest way, is so rewarding. You sound on the right path for yourself, it is good to read your posts, thanks for sharing your story.

Cassia, you too, what a lot going on, but I know you are doing what you want to, relocating back to the states. Moving and change is never easy. We are here for you. It would never have been possible without the AF journey in place. Drinking and recovering would have been the focus, not planning a life with a move and job change. You are an inspiration, too.

Cyn, good to hear from you and that your health is on track.

Papmom, you are so supportive, thanks for being there for so many.

Lav, how great to enjoy your family and the beautiful gardens.

I had a great weekend, the weather turned cold and rainy, darn, but the visiting was fun. On Saturday we went as a group out to lunch and dinner, and there was alcohol involved as we were at pubs, but amazingly, I only had one time I felt like having a beer. And I don't even care about beer. But I just ordered my tea and ate something, and enjoyed the company. My sil did not drink, she never does, and it was just normal to talk and laugh. Unfortunately, I did not sleep well as I was overloaded with caffeine, but believe me, no comparison to alcohol. So, back to work today, and feeling lots of anxiety about the job interview and making changes. Nothing is easy, change is opportunity/risk.

To all, a wonderful AF Monday.:h

            Mornin Abbers,

Hope everyone had a great weekend and now it's on to another week! Everyone here seems positive and committed - what a wonderful thing!

Was at my Mom's helping her clean out her basement - getting ready to sell house. She had a huge box full of wine/liquor, little minatures - now 3+ months ago, I would have been like a kid in a candy store. I can honestly say that none of it even looked appealing to me.

Anyway - hope everyone is off to a good start - hopefully it will be a short week for everyone. We used to get Good Friday off as a holiday every year - now it's not "politically correct" - idiots.

Anway - hope everyone has a great Monday!

Good Monday morning on this 3rd week of April!

Time sure does fly Chill, you do know that we are all with you in spirit. Things are going to work out well for you :l
A chocolate binge is not so bad in the big scheme of things

Cassia, the weather was truly pitiful this weekend but I don't want to scare you! Severe storms down south spawned tornadoes killed quite a few people. Up this way we had a ton of rain & wind, thunder & lightning on Saturday but we had a beautiful day yesterday Spring has had a tough time settling in this year! Very exciting about your move, bet you can't wait

Greetings Star, Jolie & all who stop in today. Hope Monday is a great day for all of us

                      :yougo:WHOO HOO CHILLI!!:yougo:

I just knew it would work out!! Keep us in the loop with the travel plans so we can send out collective pings for a very safe trip with gorgeous weather when you land!!

OK, I need to as you guys send out some pings for me! There is a Shasta 13 foot camper on CL that was posted last nite. It's about 1.5 hours from me and I have today off so I've emailed the seller (twice) to see if I can come down and see it. No word yet but all the signs point to this being MY camper: 1. The guy I made friends with on the camping forum and went to visit a few weeks ago and who I ended up NOT buying a camper from due to the weight, texted me at 6:30am to tell me there was a shasta on CL in Fall River. I hadn't heard boo from him since I told him I regretfully could not buy his camper. I thought he was pissed. 2.The price is only $500, well below my budget (I know, buyer beware) and 3. It's decorated on the outside with BUTTERFLIES!!!
How can I ignore those signs!! And just when I was ready to give up for the summer!!

So if everyone could please send a telepathic message to the seller of the 1960 Shasta in Fall River, MA to CALL Pam I would be so appreciative!! I will be heartbroken if this turns out to be a scam but I won't know unless I hear from him (or her).

Cassia-god speed on renting out your flat and your trip back home. I'm so happy for you!! Please don't worry about not being the life of the party at the wedding just because you were AF and everyone else was not. At my sister's wedding in '87 I got shitfaced as usual and spent the whole reception pouting because I didn't have a date and no one was talking to me. Duh. I was the only one NOT in the group pic because I was being a spoiled brat (at 31 yo to boot!!). So, it just goes to show you you can feel outside the festivities even WITH AL!! At least you will remember the wedding and you have your self respect today. One of my sister's bridesmaids puked in the limo on the way to the afterparty. How's that for being the "life of the party"!!

Jolie-good for you for not being tempted by all those mini bottles and how nice of you to spend a day helping your mom clean and declutter. I dread that!!

Star-good luck on your interview! Remember to be prepared and be yourself. The universe will take care of the rest!!

Lav and John-cold yesterday and today and VERY windy today. Sun is shining tho so that's good! Don't think the marathon times will be very good unless its a total tail wind! :H

Hey Mr. G and Mario-hope you guys are having a fabulous AF day!!

We all knew something would come thru for you

Papmom, that camper is almost as old as me hope it works out for you!

Got a deal set with the Amish farmer - he's going to buy 20 dozen eggs/week then resell them to his customers I can get rid of another 10-12 dozen/week at the college where YB works (if he remembers to take them). Easier for me

                        OK, back to work........

                          Evening appreciators

Jolie - well done on the minatures. The fact they didn't look appealing is a fantastic shift and a significant sign of growth.

Star - I'm glad you had a good weekend, these AL thoughts are fading fast and will soon be a distant memory. Oh that sugar headache today was awful and to think I used to feel that way everyday with the booze... I love how i now feel good every day!

Papmom - I can't believe you can get anything with a motor for $500, I can't wait to hear if you get it, sending you my best positive vibes.

Lav - do you eat many eggs yourself? I have to confess I never eat them although a very occasional egg-mayo sandwich is pretty yummy.

I have spoken to my new landlord and he is just fab! Totally cool about the dog and understands with my moving countries about me not having work yet. I move in on May 1st! I told my boss I was going and finished up at work today, he tried to get me to stay and even offered me a free annex at his house to live in to save me money! Anyway I have two days to empty the house, the removal company come Thursday morning and it will take a couple of weeks for the furniture to get there. I'm waiting to hear from the cargo dept about the flight I can get on with Elle which I'm hoping will be next Wednesday April 27th. Is this really happening?!

Fantastic news Chill we all knew it would work itself out for you ? have faith that you are doing the right thing and relax. Oh and stay away from the chocolate girl Good to hear from you Cassia and my aren?t you in the thick of things at the moment. Hang in there and try not to be tempted if the pressure increases, have your plan in place, strategies ready and that way you will be forearmed. On the wedding at the weekend the longer you have sober and the more you go to these kind of events the easier it seems to be and then eventually it?s just habit to drink soft drinks and be sober.

                              Papmom
I?ll need to go google Shasta Campers but how intriguing, one of the things I love best about this thread is reading about everyone?s lives, plans, hopes and dreams ? a butterfly camper well how about that!! I?m shaking my head and smiling at the same time and sending you zillions of positive vibes, I want to see the photos if you get it. Do you have a friendly mechanic who could have a look at it for you? Star
good luck on the job interview and I hope the anxiety lessens, take deep breaths and try a little meditation if you can and you are right to look at change as an opportunity, life is too dull when we stand still.

Busy day at work for me but that?s Monday over and done with and only three more days to work this week as we have 2 long weekends coming up with Easter this weekend and the Royal wedding the next Friday and a Bank Holiday on the following Monday and then I have three more days to work and I?m off for two weeks ? yahhhh. I just hope the good weather lasts.

Hi to Mario, Sooty, Jolie, Lav, Mr G, Paguy, Rustop, Cyn, Newgrange hope I haven?t missed anyone and a big shout out to Rusty, Dill and Sped ? drop by soon guys.
