Wow Chill! My head is spinning-can't even imagine what yours is doing :H!! I sure hope you, Dew and Cassia can meet up before Cassia leaves for the US-that would be so cool! Kind of like a changing of the guard!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes for the camper. Heres the link to the ad:
      1960's SHASTA
These campers are towables-sort of like the caravans in the UK but not as quaint! I would tow it with my Subaru Outback which is why I have to be so careful about the size and weight. This one is perfect. However, it doesn't look good for the butterfly camper and me. The owner did contact me around lunch (thank you everyone!) but said he had someone coming to look at it today and if it was still available tomorrow he would call me. I pushed him a bit and asked if I could come down later as I was coming a distance and it was my only day off but never heard back from him. Not sure why he doesn't want a friendly bidding war over it possibly . Not the way I do business anyway but you never know. It could still work out.

In the meantime, my old boss contacted me. She's the one I practically ran screaming from 4 years ago only to fall into the fire from the pan. She wants me to apply for the Registrars position they have open (I'm currently an ass't registrar at a state university). This would be a step up but i'm not all that sure I want all the responsibility and accountability that goes with it. We had a very nice chat and I guess being the eternal optimist I am I want to beleive that both she and I have grown up in the past 4 years and can show each other more respect. I'm not sure she even knows how much pain I was in when I left. I would be reporting to her again as she has gotten a promotion. I've decided it won't hurt to apply-there's also an assistant position open as well-and to sit down with her and the President to get all the facts. I have missed that college deeply-i just haven't missed her. She seems very confident that the scope of the job is not outside my skill set which shocked the shite out of me!!
So, the universe works in very myterious ways as I am still waiting for a call back for the job I interviewed for a week ago.
I will keep you all in the loop!!

        Good Evening Friends!c:

I'm taking a break from studying to jump in and say I've missed you all!:h

Dew-thank you for your kind words regarding my exam. I was feeling particularly frustrated yesterday with my studying and printed out your post.:l

Chill-Congratulations on getting the apartment for you and Elle! That is fantastic news!

Mr.G-So your birthday is May 4th? How old are you going to be? Any special plans with a special someone?

Papmom and Star-good luck on getting the jobs you want....I will be rooting for you!

I took a break today and my friend Kathy took me out to lunch for a belated birthday present. I tested our friendship with my drinking....I was very unreliable. She said I seem like a different person....I guess it's because I am!

I haven't had time to read everyone's posts to the depths I like and to respond, but I just wanted to let you guys know I missed you.

          Missing you too Rusty!!!!
Don't hurt your brain with all the studying

Chill, now is a good time to throw out the non-essentials............don't drag that stuff to your new home. About the eggs - I haven't eaten any in quite some time & I'm getting by with very little meat. My cholesterol doesn't want to go down & I don't want to take those cholesterol lowering meds.

          Greetings Cassia & Dewdrop!

Papmom, sounds like you may end up having your pick of new jobs - cool!

I'm out of energy, time to relax...........
          Have a good night all.

            Hey everyone,

Chill - I am so excited for you - happy that everything seems to be working out and you will be in your home soon!

Papmom - your search for a camper has brought back memories of a trip my family (parents plus brother and sister) took to Nova Scotia some (yikes) 30+ years ago in a shasta pull along camper that was tiny! When my Mom got dressed in the morning we had to all get out! Bathroom wasn't big enough to barely turn around in. Ahhh - the good old days. Hope it works out for you and the guy calls you back. Also good luck with the job hunt - sounds interesting

Dew - I want your job! Sounds like you will have a lot of wonderful vacation days coming up! I'm excited for the royal wedding! These two are just so likeable. I remember getting up at the crack of dawn to watch Diana's wedding with my mom.

Lav - your chicks must produce an awful lot of eggs! Nice that YB is willing to help you sell them (it's the least he can do - huh?) Good luck with your sales!

Rusty - glad you took a break from studying

Guitarista - like the new avatar!

Cassia - when is your move planned?

Hey guys - you know sometimes I just feel like pinching myself because I can't believe how different everything is today compared to almost 4 months ago. It's now normal for me to come home every day and not drink as opposed to drinking every single day - every single freakin day - hard to believe. Feeling very grateful and since you guys are the only ones I can talk to about this - well, thanks for being there - you guys are the best

              Hi everyone!

Thank's Jollie. The avatar is a pic of me 20 yrs ago. No. Pic is of a legendary Oz farmer/runner Cliff Young, who ran about 900 kilometres from Sydney to Melbourne in the 80's in gumboots, as that's what he runs in on the farm! I think he was about 65 then, and still going strong. Legend.

Lav, you are the entrepeneur extraordinaire. I'm inspired!

Ah Chilli. Safe travel's my friend. Congratulation's and Good luck!

Rusty, for my birthday i may or may not be watching Kramer re-runs on DVD. Hope you're fine and dandy my friend.

How did you go with the camper P3? Sending good vibes your way.

A big hello to everyone else, and follow your bliss.

              Ooroo.

Quick check in before I head to bed.

Rusty-so good to hear from you! Glad you are doing well! The exam date is almost here and then you can relax. You will do great!!

Jolie-I totally know what you mean!! I crawl into bed every nite and repeat the things I'm grateful for and can't believe number 1 is another sober day!! A little over a year ago I was a mess even tho nobody but me knew!! I NEVER want to become that person again!! My family (my mom and dad, brother and sister) went Xcountry in a pop up tent trailer!! 6 weeks in that thing! The porta potty was under the bunk that I slept on but I think mostly we used the campsite facilities. I don't remember ever getting dressed inside-I think I always took my clothes to the showers. It's a wonder we didn't kill each other! Probably why I refuse to look at pop ups now :H,

Lav-great idea about selling your eggs! Great return for little investment or great return for large investment?

Mr. G-no camper yet. Guy never called me back. It's out there tho. Just waiting for a pink paint job

Dew-your upcoming holidays sound great! I think its so cool and cute that the whole country shuts down for the wedding!! I remember watching Diana's the summer i graduated from college. It was such a fairy tale and I loved following her life. I was so sad when she died. Couldn't even go to work that day! I hope William and Kate have a wonderful marriage. They are so cute together!

OK, eyes are shutting. Time for dreamland.

                  Good morning guys

Papmom - there is nothing to lose by applying for these jobs but I'm a little concerned about your old boss, please don't forget how miserable she made you. You and Jolie's stories reminded me of a family holiday when my parents took a VW caravanette for them and us 3 children, it was SO small and was a complete disaster! I think it rained every day and we ended up checking into a Bed & Breakfast.

Lav - I hear you on the cholesterol, do you take Q10? I'm a great fan of Dr Christiane Northrup and she's against the cholesterol pills. Mine is good but if it becomes a problem I would like to try and treat holistically 1st.

Rusty - you rush in like a breath of fresh air as always! Hope you will take a break from studying to jump out of Mr G's birthday cake.....

Dewdrop - deep breaths indeed, im taking plenty and it really does help. I'm loving the Chopra 21 day meditation again, David Ji has the most amazing voice and I've just befriended him on Facebook.

Cass - It's so funny, you are going to the ultimate big city but after my last 10 years in the wilderness Glasgow is going to seem like the raciest place in the world! And I can't believe I will be able to go to Starbucks! For those who don't know, Glasgow is actually a vibrant city but where I will be living is a place called Troon which is about 40 minutes away by train and is a small coastal town famous for golf. My apartment is opposite the beach and is about 10 miles away from my Parents.

                    Good Morning Appreciaters!

A quick check in for me this morning as I am getting ready to hit the road again for a couple of days - Ohio bound this time.

Yikes - Week 3 is really turning into a whirlwind here!!

Chill - Best of luck with your preparations and move. Remember - good things happen to good people. That is why all the stars are starting to line up for you.

Papmom - Sending positive vibes your way for your camper deal. Also - proceed your working relationship with your previous boss with caution. There was a reason you went running for the hills a few years ago.

Jolie - I hear you loud and clear. I can't believe just a little more than 9 months ago, I was drinking every stinking day. I don't miss it or the consequences one bit. Life is the best it's ever been for me. Thank you for sobriety!

Rusty - Continued good luck with your studies.

Greetings to Lav, G, Cassia, Dewdrop and everyone else who follows today. Make it a great day!

Woke up to rain, better than the snow we had yesterday. It didn't stick, but still, it was hard to take. We want spring!! Good morning on this Tuesday.

Jolie, I too am so grateful every day to be AF. I did not drink every day but the times I did were life draining....for days afterwards.:upset: It is so wonderful to live each day with honesty, integrity and health. I love the people on this site and particularly this thread. We are all so very courageous. I am endlessly fascinated by the changes we continue to make as our lives get larger and more open, after throwing the booze away.

Papmom, it is so hard to make changes at a job. I feel the same, I tend to forget the hard times. If your old boss was impossible to work for, would she have changed? My big dilemma is that if I am offered this position, it is 30 miles away, a huge commute. I drive less than 5 miles a day right now. That is huge with gas so expensive, and the weather in my area often crazy. However, my coworker and supervisor are difficult to work with and for. I like the hands off approach as I am an adult, work hard and get things done. I cannot stand to be micromanaged, as this just means they don't trust you and are looking for things wrong. But, if she would not be up your *** or in your business constantly, it might work out. Lots to think about. I wondered if your attitude is different now that you are AF. Could things be different?

Rusty, thanks for stopping by. We are all different people AF. Our better selves.

PAguy, have fun on your travels.

Dewdrop, it is wonderful to have so much time off. We in the US are expected to be workaholics. Then it is still not enough. Enjoy. Fun about the wedding, they are showing stuff on TV about Kate's clothes, wedding dress, and just everything about her. I don't know how she can stand the pressure. She must really love him to be under the microscope 24/7. She does have some beautiful clothing. Another generation, I feel they will do better than the previous one.

Chill, things are moving along, sending you strength and endurance for your move.

To all, a great AF day.

Thank you all for the words of caution and encouragement in my job search. Star-I really want to think everyone can change. I certainly have but has she? Not sure. I really need to make some inquiries and ask some hard questions of the people that were there when I was there and went through the same torture but are still there and seem happier, calmer. what has changed? Those 4 years I was there were years of huge upheavals. My boss and I were brand new and she didn't get to hire me-They hired me first and I always felt she resented that and I wouldn't have been her choice. Then we went through 2 presidents which caused huge amounts of stress for her and us; she left for a bit, my VP left, a new consulting VP came in and somehow my old boss and her got together and started talking. Next thing I know my old boss is back and she knows I wasn't happy. Plus, any chance of promotion then went down the drain. Then we implemented a new system and my boss took it all on herself on the admissions side and decisions were made that didn't include the end users so more stress and resentment. There is another new president, she has been promoted and there no big changes on the horizon that anyone can see. Just some tweaks. If I get hired, it will be her choice this time. I don't begrudge her her knowledge and experience. She's a very sharp cookie who doesn't just talk out of the side of her mouth. It was her bulldozing way about her that made me run.
Thanks for letting me get this out. I needed to revisit the whole 4 years!

Chill-your new apartment sounds awesome! You have the best of both worlds! A small seaside town for the quiet and nature and a beach to run yuor dog on and a vibrant city less than an hour away! Plus your parents so close means no more isolation!! Well done!!

John-safe travels to Ohio-bet its getting pretty with all the trees starting to bloom!! Enjoy! Yes I know it's for work but try to find something good anyway!

                            Good morning April friends,

Dark & damp here once again ~ mud, yuck! There should be no moaning about droughts this summer, that's for sure!

Papmom, I really need to sit down & do the math re the chicken/eggs investement & return. I'd have to say it's fairly good $$ wise but it's also nice knowing that you are providing people with a clean & healthy food source & the girls provide me with a lot of giggles :H:H
I hope your job/jobs work out for you.

Chill, I'm back on Red Yeast Rice again which effectively lowered my cholesterol level in the past ~ shouldn't have stopped taking it. I never had a problem until i turned 50 - everything falls apart after 50, genetically speaking
Happy packing for your new home!!!!

                            Greetings John, Star & Rustop!

Happy Tuesday all. I hope everyone is getting nice weather - gorgeous in Glasgow today!

Star - It's a great feeling when you realise you only felt like drinking once around it as opposed to obsessing about it and not enjoying yourself. Good on ya! I hope the interviewing goes well. It is an anxious time but use that anxiety to your advantage and mask it as enthusiasm.

Jolie - I bet your mom really appreciates your help. I hope the house sells quickly. There was time when all that booze would have tempted me too. It looks like we quit around the same time - maybe its a side effect of sobriety.

Lav - awesome news on the Amish farm - I take it you are near Amish country then - I can't wait to get out there and buy some apple butter, quilts and other knick knacks. I hope you got a good deal. I will be tapping you for weather reports regularly so if I start annoying you just cyber smack me.

P3 - What's happening with the camper? Did the guy get back to you? I have read through what you are thinking with regards to the employment situation and you are going into this potential job with your eyes wide open. Good for you. Not easy to do sometimes.

Dew - is it wrong that I am slightly excited about the Royal Wedding - I have never seen one live before. It sounds like you did what a bunch of my friends did and took advantage of so many bank holidays at once! AWESOME. I hope you have some time off? How are things on the dating front?

Rusty - doesn't it feel great to make and keep commitments? That has been a big thing with my sobriety and a big change I noticed. I hope your exams go well. I have to contact the licensing co-ordinator re: doing my CPA exams in the States so it looks like exams are in my future too!

Chillness - are you heading off to Troon? Lovely - great restaurants down that way and right by the water. You are right - Glasgow is an awesome city and I will miss it so much when I go. Especially on a day like today when it is absolutely gorgeous. You must look after it for me? Any thoughts on jobs yet? You should check s1jobs to at least get an idea of what is out there in the marketplace.

John - Do you travel a lot for work? Where are you off to in Ohio? My friends live in Kettering? Safe travels!

Rustop - heya!! Enjoy time with the girls

G-man - glad you liked the Dr Seuss poem - it's one of my favourites.

Sooty - yes - lets all have a word with the sun god and hope the weather stays put!

Apologies if I missed anyone - happy Tuesday.

So - I actually worked until five o'clock today - I am totally on the wind down coupled with the fact that my current employers STILL haven't agreed to let me leave on 13th May even though I resigned TWO WEEKS AGO. (sorry for the caps - I am pissed!). It is now disrespectful and my direct boss is worried about the amount of work coming in and how he is going to cope. I feel bad for him - I like him a lot and don't want him to get messed about.

On positive note - all my pre-rental work is done so just waiting for my mortgage company to give us the nod and the flat will go on the rental market. The movers were out today and came in at a reasonable quote. They are local (which I like) and they specialise in international removal. They are going to pack everything for us, ship it and then unpack everything in NJ. Can't ask better than that.

So I think that's all my news. Speak soon!
