AF Daily - Easter Sunday 4-24

    Hello Abbers!

I'm still with you all today. We have had a lovely day and went out to breakfast and to an early Easter service with a beautiful Choir. Then I proceeded to drop off an Easter Basket for my sister and nephew and help them eat lots of chocolates. (NOT good). I actually think I hate chocolate now!!

Anyway, it's great to see everyone's posts. Lav, I agree with DG you should put that on the Holistic thread. I have never heard of that supplement before and it sounds like there are many here who could benefit from that advice -- including me!

Hippy, great job talking with your husband. That is an important first step. It sounds like he is also in trouble with AL and it could be a great journey for the two of you to find your sobriety together. I wish you both the best!

Great to hear from everyone and hope you all have a fantastic AF Easter!

          Morning all.

Wow! You lot were busy overnight, so great to see so much activity in the thread. I have to admit I quite like catching up on what is happening in your lives. I dont really have any friends that I do that with (by my choice - still working on that one!) and it is nice to think that I have a cyber circle of friends that I can pretend I am normal! I have pictures in my head of what you all look like and often I get surprised when I realise someone I have been talking to is actually a bloke not a woman (or vice versa)!!:H

Thanks for all your support with regards to my husband and his drinking. I think we will be alright as I do like the person he is when he is sober. And I am getting more comfortable with my sobriety too.

Piper - Drinking increases depression and anxiety. I have suffered from anxiety since I was a young child and depression on and off thru out my life but since stopping drinking, I feel so much better and the anxiety is decreasing so much. I am seeing a naturopath who gave me something to treat my adrenal glands, among other things. I dont really know too much about it but it has something to do with producing cortisol and adrenaline which instills the "fight or flight" response in humans. I have too much cortisol (I think) so I am in a permenant state of fight or flight which is why I am constantly anxious.
I am also on antidepressants but dont like a particular side affect so am going to look at natural alternatives (Amoryn?) however I am a bit scared that I will stop feeling as good as I am so will investigate all avenues first.
If you can, go to your doctor and ask for help with your depression and anxiety. It really will help you with your desire to quit drinking. Good Luck and keep visiting us.

Uni - good luck with your book. I think you would be able to do alot of research from this site! :H. Look forward to reading it.

We had our first good rains yesterday for over a year so am going to have a walk around my garden and watch the plants lap up the lovely rain. Got to play Auntie today as my brother has got tickets to a show and wants me to look after my nephews - something I dont do as I dont particularly like them (horrible auntie arnt I?).

          Catchya later.

            late check-in from garlic-breath everyone!

thanks for the kickstart Lav, Hippie, good job on difficult convo with hubby.

I've been reading some fascinating research pieces on fat/cholesterol and depression/anxiety disorder. there is an almost direct proportional link to low fat diets and depression. I have posted some links to podcasts on the Paleo diet thread in holistic healing section for those interested in the details.

still getting over my cold and feeling pretty dopey. no sugar, no bad carbs and sure as hell no AL for this guy.

            be well friends

              Hey Abbers!

Had a good but tiring day here!
YB helped me get the gazebo put together & secured to the deck (he did most of the work) of course. He cut grass & was pleasant at dinner..........who was that guy????
My DIL & the kids came over for dinner & all went well.

Deter, I hope you feel better soon friend

piper, about the cost of Amoryn - I know it looks like an unecessary expense but honestly I'd pay anything to finally feel good after years of anxiety & depression. When you break it down it comes to less than $1/day. I know I sure as hell spent more than $1/day on wine & smokes. It's something that really worked for me, is still working for me. Give it some thought because it just may be your way out as well

I hope to sleep like a rock tonight, I am tired!
              Wishing everyone a good night!

              Lav
