April Appreciation AF - week 4

    Hi everyone

Papmom - Fingers crossed re interview, it will all work out in the end.

Quick morning check-in to send best wishes to everyone who is facing changes and managing stress in their lives.

Chill - Spot on with your attitude adjustment and focusing on what you have control over. Sending you hugs and best wishes today.

Papmom - The stress of interviewing for a new job can be paralyzing. Try to relax and stay positive. Wishing you the very best for a positive outcome.

Star - I am sure bringing closure to your current (soon to be former) job has a mixture of emotions. Think of it as liberating - you took control of a bad situation and you are moving forward.

I have a busy day myself - hosting a meeting with out of town guests - working on the 'succession plan' for my organization when I retire next March. The company I work for is a very slow moving train and it takes lots of time and patience to sort these things out.

Wishing everyone a positive day of strength and determination....

April Appreciation AF - week 4

My goodness week 4 already! I thought I'd post the following for some of us who are dealing with the odd stressors at the moment, I found it on MWO so apologies if you already have it but thought it was a good thought to carry with us this week.

Even on a rainy day, I can feel the sunshine
Even when the clouds are grey, I can feel a glow
There’s a little light inside me just keeps burning
I take it with me everywhere I go

We carry within ourselves the single necessary ingredient for our happiness: a positive attitude. Nothing can ruin our day unless we let it. No remark can devastate us, unless we let it. No person can have a harmful, lasting impact on us unless we let him or her. No unhealthy, negative attitude controls our thoughts without our assent. Feeling good about the experiences we’re having, regardless of their nature, is a decision. Trusting that some good will come out of every one of them is a habit we can form. We can acquire an attitude of hope for growth and positive change.

Enjoy today - there will be no other one quite like it....

Dew - wonderful - I love it! I just may print it out and hang it up in my office to look at and remind me when I sometimes need reminding

Chill - you are one smart cookie - it is a choice and you can choose to feel differently. I also think it's good therapy for us to look back and speculate on how our days could be playing out if we were presently drinking as we had in the past. Don't think any of us want to go there I actually had two hummers at my feeder and they are very territorial(?) so they actually fly around and "clip" each other - really cool to watch. If I can be there at the right time, I'll try and get a picture of it and post it here - just remember friends, I still have dial up so not sure if I will be successful!

Good morning to Paguy, Star, Rustop, Mario, Lav, PM3.

Lav - next time I see the hummingbirds I will point them in your direction (like I recently did with the stork and I hope they make an appearance there soon!

Have a great day everyone! Supposed to be up in the 80's again today!

            Good morning April friends!

Starting my day out in paranoid fashion here
Just heard a news report that the police are searching for an armed suspect in my neighborhood & we are told to stay indoors with doors locked - really, in cow country???

Chill, I am totally on board with you about changing your thinking & perception about these changes in your life. This concept has made a huge difference for me in getting thru my life AF these past two years, honestly! Wishing you a fantastic day :l

Greetings Mario, Star, Rustop, John, Dewdrop & Jolie
Greetings to everyone who stops in today!!!!

Jolie - I'm keeping my eye out today for escaped suspects (dressed in black pants & blue shirt - Amish???) & hummingbirds
Chill, hummingbirds are so small sometimes you mistake them for large insects :H

              Morning appreciators!

Lav - wow, that is kind of scary...I'm glad you have Maxie there...let us know how everything turns out.

Chill - what a great example, thanks.

PMom - sounds exhausting. If this is not the ideal job, the right one is finding you: but it sounds like you knocked the interview out of the park!

Cass - PMom gave you excellent advice. I have done the bookeeping for my businesses, my HBs corporation and our personal taxes for years. Right now, the only decision for you to make is how much tax will come out of your check. I agree with her that for this first year, you should claim 0, and have the maximum tax taken out of your check. (Then next April there should be no surprises about extra tax to pay in.) If you end up getting a big refund next year, then you know that you should change what you claim. But for now, simpler is better! For this year, keep all of your medical, dental and vision care receipts, and keep track of mortgage interest payments (if you are buying a house), keep all of your move expenses receipts if your move is work-related. That's about all you have to worry about. In October or November, get set up with a tax accountant and review your situation; you can make changes or give extra charitable contributions in December if you want to reduce any taxes that might be owed. He/she can explain all of that to you...no worries, good luck! I have some tax 'planners' I can send you when you get settled if you would like to see them.

Mario, so nice to see you - have a great day all - I'm off to my 4th riding lesson, then a long day of work --cheers --

Geez Lav - I'm hopping on the net now and hope to see that they have caught him. Stuff like that isn't supposed to happen in our area.

Update - the young man in question was apprehended!
No detaisl out yet except that he's 25 & the family was concerned (about his mental health) when he took off in the car armed with some sort of weapon. What a shame........glad no one was hurt!

Time to lighten the mood with a new pic. My DIL took the boys to visit their Dad at one of his part time jobs this morning. EB is all about fire trucks :H

Hope we are all having a peaceful day

                    Evening guys

Lav - what a fantastic photo!! I bet EB loved the visit.

Dewdrop - thank you for your poem, very apt for me.

Well what a day! I had the most wonderful 4 hour lunch with my girlfriends. The sun shone and we sat on the deck of this glorious beach restaurant overlooking the ocean. They all drink a load of wine we all giggled like crazy. There were a few tears at the end and I realize how incredibly blessed I am in my life to have met so many wonderful loving people. They all headed back to the bar for early evening drinks and I headed to the fields for my last walk in my favorite place with Elle.

I can't dwell on what I'm leaving behind especially my home which has been the most wonderful peaceful haven anyone could ever hope to live in. I'm taking the peace with me, as they say "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened".

April Appreciation AF - week 4

                          Hey all,

Thanks everyone for the tax advice. I got some forms through today including my w4, i9 and working opportunity tax credit (-another thing to research). I am going to take your advice and claim no exemptions this year and hopefully have a pleasant surprise come next April!

Lav - I am glad the situation was resolved peacefully. I hope the young man gets the help he needs.

Paguy - I hope your meetings went ok!

Chill - good luck tomorrow. I will be thinking sbout you and Elle.

P3 - sorry I haven't had a chance to post about your interview. I think you are being a bit hard on yourself. It is so costly for companies to recruit and if you didn't meet the criteria then they would not have interviewed you. Ok, the bilingual thing is a bit of a drag but they must anticipate that it is a nice to have as opposed to a requirement. They kept you in for two hours which is a great sign! I was in my interview for my new job for about the same time. If it had gone badly or they got the vibe that you weren't right then they would have ended it early. You have done everything you can and I think you have had a positive interview experience. Good luck for Friday!

Wishing you all an awesome evening!

                            Hey All!
Chill-As I write this you may be just getting up and getting on your way to the airport. I hope you will see this before your flight. I just wanted to wish you very very safe travels. I hope you had a lovely last walk in the field with Ellie and I really hope that when I wake up tomorrow morning and hop on here, I will see a post from you saying that you and Ellie arrived in the UK safe and sound and are on your way to Scotland. Can't wait to wake up tomorrow!!

Cass and Cyn-thank you soooo much for the votes of confidence! I really needed that. I'm feeling much better today about a lot of things. I'm actually looking forward to the interview on Friday now whereas 24 hours ago I was dreading it. One thing that I realized was that if I am offered the admissions job and I take it, the hours I would have to work mean no more agility classes for me and DD. I'm not sure I can handle that. It's been a part of us for almost 3 years now and the change in him is amazing because of these classes. I know that isn't a reason to turn down a job but I guess I just hadn't realized how important those classes were to me.

I have also cancelled my hotel room for Friday nite. I just couldn't see where I was going to fnd the time to pack the car up and clean the house all in just a couple of hours on Friday after the interview. I have a little time on Thursday nite to do some cleaning but not much and I do want to prepare for the interview. I have decided to leave super early on Saturday and go straight to the trial. I'll probably leave around 5:30 am. It's a 2.5 hr drive and I want to set up the tent and xpens before my first run if possible. I feel so much better now that I've made that decision!!

Lav-Wow! You had an exciting morning!! So glad the kid was caught and hopefully is getting the help he needs. LOVED your pics of EB and William! My 5yo nephew also is all about fire trucks and stations. His dad is a Lieutanant in their town's volunteer department and nate gets to ride in the fire truck in the July 4th parade all decked out. Too cute!

Hey G, Jolie and Dew. Beautiful post this morning Dew!! Jolie - I should really get my feeder out-maybe this year will be the year of the hummers in my yard!!

Good morning to all on hump day.

Chill, sending you best wishes for a noneventful trip, with everything going smoothly. Your lunch time sounded wonderful, and I loved the saying, "don't cry because it's over, smile, because it happened." You have a wonderful group of friends, with internet it is easier to stay in contact. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Papmom, getting a new job is about tradeoffs, and it is important to decide what you want. If those classes are important and you would have to give them up, well, that is really something to think about. A two hour interview sounds as if they are defintely interested. It is hard to find the perfect person with every single qualification, such as bilingual. Will be thinking abuot you on Friday. How nice to have all these experiences with you new found confidence.

I woke up late so have to get going, have a great AF day.

                                Good morning everyone

Another beautiful morning here. Have to keep reminding myself that it is still April. Hope it is the same in Scotland for our Chill when she arrives.

Being so busy has its rewards, I might not have gotten much MWO time last week due to all the painting, gardening etc but I lost 3.5lbs!!! It has taken me 2.5 months to loose 4lbs before this,so this is amazing. I had gained .5 of a lb the week before so I gave myself the proverbial kick up the ass and really stuck to the programme for the week. Paid off so very pleased. You seem to eat a lot with the new propoints programme but anyone who has lost the weight on it say they have kept it off.

                                Lav - love the photo.

                                Everyone else big hello.
