April Appreciation AF - week 4

Hi Everyone-it's been a very long and busy day and I am beat!
I turned on the telly in time to hear "Dearly Beloved" but had to turn it off before they even got on the balcony. I did see the kiss tonite on Chronicle so that was nice. I thought the wedding was lovely and both of them looked amazing. I loved her dress and was so happy to see it wasn't strapless!!

The interview was OK. I had conversations with 5 people, only 2 of which asked me real questions. The VP of Academics had some great questions. Too bad I didn't know the answers. I now realize how much I DON"T know about this position so now I'm not sure I can do it. My meeting with the VP of HR was nice but she didn't bring up any HR stuff at all-no salary range, no time frame for hiring (although I know they need someone quick), no benefits chat which was wierd considering as of this past wednesday all employees have to pay 10%towards their health care which a huge change from when I was there before (it was free). So, I guess I feel like I've been hung out to dry. I secretly hoped they would offer me the job today and they didn't. Did they only bring me in out of curtesy? I really don't know now. So, I'm trying not to think about it and I will go to NH tomorrw and have fun! My car is packed, my house is clean, my cooler is scrubbed from the ravages of this winter (when am I going to remember to bring these things in after October????) and I will be up probably by Rusty O'clock and on the road by 6. It takes less then 2 hours to get there and I had thought it took 2.5 so that is a bonus.

Chill-I was so relieved to hear you and Elle had arrived safe and sound in Scotland. Hope you enjoyed watching the wedding with your mum. when can you move into your new flat? Yes, girl-you most certainly did DO IT!! You can do anything now!!

Star-I sure hope today was a better day at work and that you will get a chance to relax this weekend.

Rusty-thanks so much for the positive vibes sent my way-thank you everyone! I hope you will take some time off from studying this weekend! Congratulations on your certification!

    John-safe travels my friend!

NG, Rustop, Jolie, Lav-enjoy your weekend and I will see everyone on Sunday nite.

      Good evening kids!

Yes, YB picked up the eggs sometime after I left the house this morning :H
Got tired of waiting around for him so I called my daughter, picked her up & went to the nursery to buy more plants. We stopped for lunch on the way home, nice

Later we took turns holding Lily & got quite a few veggie plants into the garden - tomatoes, peppers, basil, eggplant, squash, etc. & planted lots of seeds for green beams - yum! I started cucumber seeds inside a while ago, they will be ready to set out soon.

papmom, forget the interview stuff now & just have a good weekend

Rusty, rest your brain this weekend lady!

Wishing everyone a comfy evening. It cooled off around here today so I turned the AC off - that was ridiculous for a few days.

        Hey Folks:

Happy Friday! Yes, I was up early so I watched the wedding and thought it was really beautiful. I agree - they seem like such a lovely couple who are genuinely in love. I hope they can cope with all the pressures of a public life.

One of my favorite parts of the ceremony was the music performed by the Westminster Abbey Choir. Here is a link to my favorite song - it was written especially for the occassion by John Rutter who is a British conductor and composer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssnAMpYKsd8[/video]]YouTube - Westminster Abbey Choir - This is the day (John Rutter)

I finished up my training today for my 10-mile race on Sunday. Tomorrow will be a 'rest' day and I have to drive into the city to pick up my race packet and bib. The logistics of the race are a bit complex - there will be 30,000 runners and it starts at 8:30am. I'll be getting up around 4:30 on Sunday morning

Star - You should be so thankful you are leaving that job. I agree completely with Lav - Feck them! Your supervisor sounds like a bully and a complete waste of time. Don't let her/him get the best of you. Your health is more important.

Rusty - Glad to hear your evaluation went well!

Papmom, Jolie, Newgrange, Rustop, and everyone else - happy a great AF weekend!

          Good morning all...

Thanks for all your support, I need it. I had another really difficult day early as I told my supervisor and the aa that this will be my schedule. Period. No one would talk to me, and the passive aggressive stuff is hard for me to take. I was sick and achy from it all and left early. I drove up to my knew place of employment with my husband and we went out for a sandwich. I was minimally tempted to have a drink, especially as we were in a bar/cafe, but again, quickly ordered ice tea and ate, and the craving stopped. For me, key is to eat and drink something else. Right away. My spirit was sapped out of me and I felt depressed. It was hard to regain my sense of self, but this morning I am able to feel joy again.

Rusty, so you think they want me to leave? I think they want to get all the work out of me for as long as they can, and on top of it expect me to complete closure stuff. I won't do it. They want me to come in on the weekends to complete the closure activities, for free. I won't do it It is the burning bridges stuff I did not want. Oh, and you are many things Rusty, lively, intelligent, fun, honest, hardworking, but boring is NOT one of them.

Newgrange, good that you asked for help and talked about it. Cravings continue, they just get weaker over time and you toolbox gets fuller and heavier. It has become habit for me to deal with things without alcohol. This way of life will come for you too, with patience and persistence. I just want you to know that waking up today hangover free is so wonderful, despite the difficulties in my life, that I cannot even express it.

PAguy, you are so wonderful, I love hearing about your running activities, they have to make you feel good mentally and physically. I too loved the music during the wedding yesterday. It was so fun to share that experience with the world.:h

Papmom, have fun on your weekend. Seems your interview did not go the way you expected, but you never know. I love hearing about your clean house, scrubbed stuff, and fun trip. thanks for sharing.

Greeting to Jolie, Lav, Cassia, and all. I have concerns about Dill and Sped. Anyone heard from them?

          Have a super Saturday, AF.

            Greetings all,

Good to hear you and Elle arrived safe and sound Chilli. What wonder await's you two?!

I hope you're not too worried about your job interview Papmom. Many manager's, HR people, interviewer's, are clueless when it comes to picking a winner. Something magical wait's for you, friend.

Dill and Shelley, can you check in please when you can.

Edit: Newgrange. Hang in there. Your whole body chemistry is still adjusting and repairing, and will likely be for a good year or 2 or longer. At 51 day's, you must have faith in what treasure awaits you. Hang on, hang in, be pro-active in your sobriety, and make sure you are growing, somehow, and at your own pace. Keep doing the work, and enjoy and reflect on the magic your day will often bring. (if our eyes are open) Trust me when i tell you sobriety just keeps getting better, and better, but as long as we do the work, and take ACTION, whatever that looks like to us. Keep it going, and great going on your AF time. That is a huge accomplishment, and YOU, are making it happen.

            Have a great weekend everyone.

(Rusty, Chilli is far too classy for me, as are you. I am but a humble composer of music. )

                Happy Saturday all -

Woke up at 2:30 yesterday a.m., so thought 'why not', and turned on the Wedding. I loved the thought that I was watching the same event at the same time as many of you here...it felt like a special connection. I loved the all-around beauty of it, and being an organizer and events coordinator, I felt like I was watching the pinnacle of that world! I thought the most adorable part was seeing them in the convertible...

Chill - you did it, you did it, you did it, you did it. Congrats on a monumental shift. PA - glad your travels didn't take you into storm country, and have a great run tomorrow. PMom - if it 's not these jobs, the right one is still seeking you. Have fun this weekend, and kick butt on the course. Newgrange, thanks for writing -- 51 days is a huge accomplishment, you will never regret building on that solid foundation, but you will instantly regret not staying with it. I ditto all that everyone has said -- it is worth the commitment. Star - I like Newgrange's idea of doing an 'exit' interview...REST this weekend. Jolie, Lav, glad you are safe and sound. Rusty, loved the favorite sweatshirt day, you comfort yourself, friend. Rustop great to hear from you, Dew likewise -- what are honesty seeds? G-man such sound advice, it helped me today. Oh dear did I miss anyone, so sorry if I did... Wishing for the voices of Sooty, Dill, Sped, and LBH, would love to hear those dulcet tones....
Take care all - SIL is staying with us today and tomorrow, so must get cooking....

                    Hey Gang:

Well, so much for a rest day! It was such a beautiful day I spent most of it out in the yard continuing my spring cleanup. Also got my window box planters done for the front of the house. I'm taking little bits at a time and trying to not overdo it.

I'm going to treat myself to a nice long hot shower and then eat a light dinner and will probably hit the sack by 9pm. Wake up call at 4:30am will be here soon enough

Thanks for the best wishes for my race tomorrow.... I'll let you all know how I make out...

Have a great AF Saturday everyone...
