Moving thru May - Week 4

    Good Morning Friends:

Rusty - Let me add my CONGRATULATIONS on your 1 year milestone. :good: That is an awesome accomplishment and we are all so HAPPY for you. You are a true road warrior and a delightful (and frequently humorous) voice on this thread.

Lav - So, so sorry to hear of your bad karma this past week and your doggie woes. I hope the wound heals without any more complications. She is a lucky dog to have Nurse Lav at the rescue. Hang in there....

LBH - Brining a new dog into the household can be so much fun. Sounds like you will be a wonderful nurterer as the 'unveiling' progresses.

More dog talk - I met a new little fellow last night at a friends house - his name was 'Willie' and he's a Cocker Spaniel / Prince Cavalier mix. What a sweetheart! Very nice temperment, quiet and well behaved. I think my little Westie needs a housemate.

I recently had a milestone myself - celebrated my birthday on Thursday and it was my FIRST AF birthday in my entire adult life! My partner arranged a surprise dinner party at one of our favorite restaurants with 4 of our close friends and we had a lovely evening. We were able to eat outside and although it was quite warm, there was a very nice breeze. What a pleasure it was for me to have a clear mind and engage in intelligent conversation without being on guard about making sure I wasn't slurring my words. I LOVE life being AF. It really is the best thing that has happened to me.

Shout out greetings this morning to Chill, Rustop, Rusty, Cassia, Sooty, Dew, and all others who follow today. Wishing you all a nice weekend.

I am running a 5K race a little later this morning.... Not sure how I'll do with this heat and humidity but I'm gonna give it my best!

WHOO WHOO RUSTY!! DOING THE HAPPY DANCE FOR YA!!

Lav-big positive pings coming your way for Ms. Piggy. Ouch. Hope they can find out why it happened and do something about it!

LBH-Congratulations on the new addition! She sounds just lovely! After only a few days she's already come out of her shell? She's found the right home, that's for sure. In a few months you won't even recognize her as the same dog. Just keep giving her love and a little positive discipline so she knows her boundaries and she'll be fine! If DD can change for the better, any dog can!!

John-good luck on your run today! Don't push yourself too hard with this heat-just finish! And a resounding YES on the companion for Westie!! Caviliers are awesome! What a nice thing your partner did for you for your birthday! Awwwwwww :h

Rustop-good luck to your daughter on her finals!

Chill-can't wait to hear how your day is going! Keep sending those positive vibes over the pond! I could sure use them too!

Cass-hey girl! you're so nice to be the first to wish Rusty a sober EAR :H. No seriously, we knew what your meant!! Hope all is well and that you have a successful apartment hunting weekend!!

Didn't get too much done yesterday-lots of errands and a 3 hour stint at a super walmart. WTF??? It's way out of my way and I happened to be only 5 min a way so I figured I'd see if they had more RV stuff than my local one does. They did. I managed to get out of there with under a $100 bill which is a first for me! It was hotter than hades yesterday so I didn't do much when I got home. Today is coole and overcast so far and I hope it stays that way. I've got tundra control and RV cleaning on the list.

        Have a great day all!!

PS-I did get the invite from Sis for tomorrow. Yippee!!

          Maxie report!!!!

She's back home, still sluggish ~ sleeping off the sedation.
Still have no idea how she actually injured herself but I think it could have something to do with the ways she just flops her big self down like a ton of bricks ~ definitely not the ballerina type :H
Her tooth went through her upper lip (on the side of her snout) & not the roof of her mouth. The Vet said the tooth went almost all the way through - eeewww.

OK, I am done with my share of the BS this week. It has to be someone else's turn

EB & his family are coming over for dinner

Hey lav - I am glad you got Maxie back and she is doing good. My poor wee cat is getting badly bullied at the moment and it breaks my heart.

Well, I am at my wits end with the DMV. Because my nj license expired four years ago they want me to resit the written and road test. No consideration for my British license because I am a us citizen. However, when my husband arrives he only has to sit the written test because he has never been a us resident. So I am basically being discriminated against because I am an American...in America! It is a total joke. I am furious to say the least. Got one more try though. I can't believe I actually cried over it. I was just so angry.

Woo... Thanks for letting me rant!

OH Cass- what a royal PIA!! I can't believe that's how we treat our citizens who've been abroad!! I hope you one more try does the trick! Fingers crossed for ya!

Lav-glad Maxie's on the mend. What a freak thing to have happened to her? I wonder if she'll lay down a bit more lady like now??

Well, it's been a very tough long day and the ticks get a days reprieve. This morning I took down the wire fencing and pulled out all the dead brush from my perennial garden, cut back the huge butterfly bush and took out some dead stuff from the veggie garden. made a trip to the yard waste center and then after lunch instead of mowing and trimming, I decided to put up the willow fencing that I got from my neighbor up the street and which sat in the yard getting molding and yucky since November. This went up at the rear of my perennial garden to block off my neighbor's yard and her 2 dogs that make my dogs go wild if they're out at the same time. Not sure it's really going to work as it's somewhat see through. But it is 6 feet tall so LM can't get over the teeny 3 foot fence that separates the 2 properties. I had 3 six foot tall tomatoe stakes that I attached the fencing to with very colorful cable ties and then tied off the fencing to the smaller chainlink. I'm not sure my neighbor is going to be too thrilled when she see this but I really don't care. It was a very dirty, smelly, painful job and I got way too much sun. I no longer have the veggie fencing in front of the perennial garden and although it makes the yard look so much bigger I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'm not sure if any of my plants are dog safe. I also trampled a ton of spiderwort, phlox, goldenrod and some other plants and I really don't care. I might just pull it all up anyway it's so weedy and over grown. Tomorrow I'll look at it with fresh eyes. I didn't see any tick on me throughout this whole process and so far none on the dogs but I just know they're out there!!
I'm exhausted, headachy and dehydrated. Over a year ago I would have capped off a day like this with a bottle of wine and suffered a major hangover the next day due to the dehydration. Thank god for this AF life!!

Cassia, the DMV in every state sucks :H
Don't let them get you down - you'll get thru their damn hoops

Papmom, here it is 9 pm & Maxie is still sleeping...........must have had a big dose! Of course she woke up to eat & take her antibiotic. And she's not snoring for a change ~nice

Had a hot, humid, sunny day here with a couple of quick showers. The grass & the weeds are growing like crazy. YB is due tomorrow to cut grass. He never responded to my text message about Maxie. Jerk!

EB is 2 1/2 years old today & he came up with a line at dinner that shocked all of us!!!!
He said: 'I'm going to do a friggin crap in my diaper again'. :H:H
My son & DIL looked at each other & said 'I never said that to him - where did he learn that'?? And I said 'Don't look at me - I've never said that to him'!!!
Where do they hear these things?????

                What a day!!!!

                  Good morning everyone

Lav - so glad Maxie is ok again. I laughed when I heard what EB said, most likely he heard it on TV and they sure pick their moments to repeat!!

Cassia - Hope all works out for you. I remember when we moved to Canada going through all those hoops, very frustrating.

Papmom - Hope you had a nice rest last night after all your work. Weird how we thought we were rewarding ourselves with a hangover when drinking!!!

Very misty here but have been out with the dogs for a walk. Mass this morning is for all the students about to do exams. My daughter got a letter informing her and a little prayer card. She has decided that she will come with me. Usually they dont and I just let them be. Hubby is also making noises about coming, we'll see.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.

Moving thru May - Week 4

Good Sunday Morning my AF Friends,

Wow, thanks for all the well-wishes yesterday! I spent my day in a very lazy fashion, watching old movies and running errands....unhung and happy.

Cassia, sorry about all the mess with the DMV! WTF? It makes no sense to me. Good luck on your road test...remember to drive on the right side of the road. :H Ok, bad joke. Sorry. Cassia, you are a wonderful, too, and I just wanted to say that yesterday was my drunkfree, hangover free, and guiltfree anniversary. I have not been totally AF, and when I haven't been, I've been truthful with my friends here. I never hide anything from you guys. This is my safe place. I went through a horrible, horrible, 3 1/2 year spell of excessive and progressive drinking and I can't discuss it with my family as they consider it water under the bridge and they really don't want me talking about that horrible time because it churns up hurtful memories,..but I still have boatloads of scenes in my head that occasionally pop up and make me feel badly, and when they do, I post them here. I'm so glad I'm a much healthier and happier person now, and so is my family.

John-Belated Happy Birthday, friend! Are you fit and 57 now? Your birthday celebration sounded just lovely. And your FIRST AF birthday? Wow! Congrats!:goodjob:How did you do in the race yesterday? Oh, I love Cavaliers! Get it, get it, and post pictures. Your little pup will be so thrilled to have a playmate.

Lav-so sorry to hear about Maxie!:upset: I hope she's healing now. I was stunned when I read about EB's comment.....I'm thinking he picked that up from another kid, probably at a big store like a Wal-Mart, maybe?

LBH-so happy for you that you got your new little rescue dog. My sister's rescue dog was afraid of men, too. My sis figures she was probably abused or witnessed a man abusing a woman and that's why she hated men. She used to poop and pee on my brother-in-law's golf cart just to piss him off!:H

Chill-sounds like you're really interested in Doc....just give him time....he's probably taking it slow because he doesn't want to blow it with you, either.

Papmom-you had one productive yesterday...good for you. I thought of you when I was in Omaha. I worked out at a Planet Fitness! I felt so underdressed and I by far, was the biggest person there. When they asked how I heard about them, I told them Ms. Papmom told me about it, and the girl said, "Papmom....what an unusual name. What nationality is she?":H

For all of you who have hot and humid weather, send some to Wisconsin, please! It's been cold and rainy here and our pool is open and I'm not jumping in until it's at least 75 degrees.

Rustop-sending positive vibes to your daughter onher exams.

Despite the gloomy weather, I am going to go out and get all my flowers for my deck and then buy all the fixings for the Strawberry Tiramisu I'm making for my sister's pool party.

To anyone I may have missed, hope you all have a great AF Sunday!

                      Good morning friends,

Starting the day out with heavy cloud cover but I hear it's to clear up later.

John, I completely missed saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you
So nice you had a good dinner out with friends!

Rusty, you sound happy & thats great!!!
I hope you enjoy the pool party - strawberry tiramisu sounds so good - YUM!

My head is still spinning over EB's nasty little remark last evening. I know kids pick up 'stuff' from other kids but he really doesn't go anywhere unsupervised yet. My kids picked up a LOT at the school bus stop - oh boy

I promised yesterday to get an embroidery job shipped out Tuesday so that means I have to work today. Tomorroiw the whole group will be here for a BBQ.

Wishing everyone a wonderful AF Sunday

Oh Rusty-you are TOOOOOO funny!! That poor woman is googling Papmom as we speak! Funny how you said you were underdressed for PF. One of the things I LOVE about PF is the no fashion zone mentality. My local one is very laid back as far as workout attire and there are definitely some very large participants there. So, I feel very comfortable and not like I am being put on show. The one thing that it doesn't have are personal trainers that you can hire. You meet with what they call a personal trainer your first time to go over your goals and meet the equipment but they really aren't PTs. Glad you had such a nice laid back day yesterday and today pool party!! Whoop whoop!! Maybe we'll telepathically message each other when we're both in our respective pools this afternoon! Better yet we could text: "rusty-floating on tipsy mattress-trying not to go under!! Papmom"

Lav-oh boy-it's starting early with EB!! Keep those 'gems' coming :H Have fun at the BBQ and hope you get your project done.

Rustop-hope everyone decided to go to Mass. I don't think a little extra prayer can hurt at exam time!

Off to do battle with the jungle again. First test with the new fence was this morning. knew the pitbull was out in her yard-let my guys out, they ran right past, she ran up to the fence but just pawed-didn't bark or whine. DD noticed her and started to run at the fence but I said "NO" and he turned away. No barking from the PB the whole time and my guys didn't even know she was there execept for DD and he ignored her. So test #1 was passed with flying colors. it's going to be another scorcher out there-better get moving before it's too hot.

Evening guys, I need someone to hold my hand......

Having not heard from the Doc since Friday (he had said we'd do something today) not even as much as a text mesg, by 9pm I assumed he had decided we were incompatible. I sent him a email saying that was cool and wishing him all the best, no hard feeling etc etc but I had left my coat at his house and when would it be ok to collect it. I was taking deep breathes and being all adult, pretending not to be hurt at all, I took Elle a long walk in the cold and told myself to let it go....... Anyway I just had this reply "Shurrup with all this nonsense beautiful girl!! Will text you as soon as the neighbours bugger off and I have some privacy xx" Now im shaking like a leaf and feel about 16.

Rusty, story for MWO daily news....... to be continued

Lav - I understand your disbelief over EB! Im gobsmacked and :H at YB's reaction. At least you got a reaction!!

Rusty - Im ROFL at you saying Papmom :H:H:H that is going to amuse me for such a long time..... what nationality!!

                                Good Afternoon AF Friends,

                                I'm back!

Chill-you are such a sweetheart....I'm so glad Doc texted you.:l I would have been the same way though....staring at my Iphone waiting for a response. OOOOHHHHH....I'm so intrigued about this possible relationship. Does he have kids? How old is he? I know....nosy nosy Rusty. Do you know I had to Google ROFL? You would not believe how many possible translations there are for that acronym. I love how Europeans talk...gobsmacked....bugger off.:H:h You'll be having sweet dreams tonight or are you just going to stay awake until he texts you? Ok, please keep me posted....and then, while you're at it, just have him fax/e-mail his resume, and I'll do a background check...and then I'll let you know if he is worthy of your affection.

Lav-That is so great that you got a new Weber grill!! I can't believe YB showed up. You're right...he's only hurting himself by missing out on all the family time. What are you BBQ'ing tomorrow?

Papmom-did you finish your fence? I hope that pitbull stays away from your paps. WUFF!

Tomorrow is the big family cookout and pool party at my sister's so I have been planting my flowers on my decks this afternoon. They are really pretty....hot pink geraniums and wave petunias. However, I am sick of planting flowers and will go to the gym.

Guys, I'm somewhat struggling today....not to be AF (that hasn't been a problem at all...my first AF Memorial Day weekend in 4 years) but to find some hobbies....other than working, and working out. Chill, I really envy you that you have a PASSION for cycling and yoga. I want so much to have a passion for SOMETHING. Papmom has her dogs...Lav has her grandkids, business and likes to cook, bake and sew, Paguy has his running, and I just don't have a passion for anything it seems. I've been trying to develop new hobbies but nothing seems to stick with me. I spend too much time on my computer and on the internet, and that's not good. I guess the only thing I really have a passion for is my mom, my sister and two brothers, and the rest of my family. I'm not whining and feeling sorry for myself, I'm just kind of introspective.

Chill-good job for turning down the low-paying job. You'll find something better....and I'm proud of you for wanting to spend time with your family. I feel the same way.

Ok, I'm going to make like a baby and head out!:H

                                I'll be back later, though.
