    Good morning Abbers!

Sad to say I've been up since 3:30 am - this is going to be one long day

But I do have lunch scheduled with friends & a possible trip to my favorite plant nursery this afternoon

Wishing everyone a Happy Hump Day!

Ugh Lav... I feel your pain. I bet you crash with the chickens tonight.

Chores and errands and a massage and the wife always fixes a nice lunch. I'm hoping to hunt down the travelling artisan BBQ truck for a take home for dinner. I hear this is NOT your granddaddy's BBQ.

Gardenias are blooming and I polished up 2 little silverplate bud vases I inherited from somewhere and the smell when you walk by is SOOOOO nice!

May's Southern Living Magazine had an article on ice tea variations that looked tasty. Nice to have a variety of AF options. I'm currently into cucumber and lemon thyme in my refrigerated water pitcher.

Uni, have you got a spot yet?

Gotta zoom - Need to spread fire ant stuff while it's still early.

Good Morning, my son does not want to go to school anymore this year (3 days left) and I don't blame him one bit but, my job is to get him to school not sympathize with him. . .that is very hard to do right now.

Anyway, Sorry you woke up so early LAV,

Greenie good for you for trying to choose healthy alternatives to ice cream. I don't really like ice cream. . .yes I'm weird.

Hi to everyone to come. Have a great day.

Good morning Abberinskis! Lav we share insomnia AND a passion for gardening, and I would love to drift around a nursery today, sampling this and that. Greeneyes, fire ants eh? Please do tell what you use for them. I dont have fire ants but I DO have some annoying and copious ant populations....boric acid and sugar? Jenny, I had a teenager that refused to attend school, left to live with her dad who threw her out, and now she is on welfare with two little kids and doesnt have grade 11 never mind 12. So yeah. I can relate.

I am up early because today is the presentation of 10 years of research and I kept waking up all night thinking of this and of that.... wish me luck. At least I aint hung over, just a wee bit tired....lol!

        Everyone have a great day!

          Wednesday ~ May 25th

          Good Morning All,

Looks like it is shaping up to be a gorgeous day here.

Greenie, I really love to read about the small things you do to make your life relaxing and pleasurable. I never appreciated such things when I was drinking. Now I savor the smell of flowers or the cool breeze coming from a window.

Lav, I hope you weather in PA is turning around. My best friend from New Hampshire has had it with the weather there this year. Lots of snow in the Winter followed by a Spring with rain almost every day.

Jenny, I always find the last few months of the school year to be tough. Everyone loses motivation including me. I get tired of the routine...making lunches, checking homework, etc. Of course, then comes the Summer with lots of kids with idle time on their hands. This is not a good thing for a mom who works out of her home. I read your post yesterday about your son failing 6th grade. Are they planning on keeping him back? Can he take courses in the Summer? OUr school system is changing in much the same way as Lav described. There is less of a focus on failing grades and more on "let's find out what we need to do to help you really understand the material." As a result, students are able to re-take tests, etc. I really like this approach because the focus is more on learning and less on "the grade."

Kaslo, I appreciated your post yesterday about the drunk scientist. I was a "closet" drinker too but at events such as the one you described where alcohol was so available, I couldn't help myself and would often get quite drunk. This was not at all helpful for my business. Glad to be done with that!!

Okay, onward to work. I am procrastinating.

          Happy Sober Day to all.

Fire ants are a whole 'nother ball game. I succumbed to amdro spread across the whole yard - once a year. I tried all kinds of stuff and finally resorted to the whole yard tx after attending a fire ant seminar (really :H)

GOOD LUCK TODAY - KNOCK 'EM DEAD! well, maybe just unconscious, or blow their knickers off.

Hi Lav, Greenie, Jenny, Kaslo, Mom3 and all to come,

DG - congratulations on three years!

I'm back at work after visiting mum for a few days. God, it's getting tough. Short version: she was told by a doctor last week that the cancer had spread in such a way that they couldn't do anything more for her so she gathered the family to tell us all that. Horrendous. Two days later, her regular consultant said they were going to start a new round of radiotherapy to give her some more time. So that's how things are.
I sure as hell couldn't deal with it drunk.

                    Hi guys!

I just found out today that I got a spot for June 10th. It is a 35 day program that does intensive trauma/addiction and relapse prevention. I am so looking forward to it. It is an all womans program and is a holistic program, not a 12 step one. There is lots of group and individual counselling, yoga, fitness, accupuncture. I am locked away though for 35 days. Cannot leave. No access to computer. 10 minutes of phone tine a night and they book the time for you, if you miss your scheduled time, no phone call. So it is a pretty intensive program. But I am so looking forward to it. I can't wait to come out feeling cleansed and healthy and haveing shed all my traumatic issues that I need to let go of. Yeah!

I'll check in tomorrow - I've been trying to get my life organized before I go so I haven't been on the computer much but now that I have my intake date I can relax a little!
Every day is a day to start over and remember that I am powerless over my addiction. I will no longer give the BEAST any power over me - he can go straight to hell.

That's great news uni! So glad for you!

Marshy....:l I wish I had been fully present for my mother back then in that situation.
I was about to launch into one of my OMMMM things, but that's all for now. Just be really really grateful to be where you are now in your own journey. :l

M3 did you see the Daily OM today? I read it this afternoon and it was about the little things in life that bring us happiness.

Jen I hope your son finds unanticipated support from his mates at school these last few days.

Thank you all so much for the support. I found out today that he MAY be able to go to summer school to try to make up. . .but he failed both TAKS test and that is the standard to pass, his class work grades are passing so he may still have a chance. I'm going to put him back on his ADD meds either way, I think if he fails I may transfer his school but he is very against that. Excited for american idol tonight. . .more excited to rest my foot.

BTW all ok here in North Texas but we were in the bathroom because of the tornado's last night! Scary!

See y'all tomorrow! Have a great AF night!

Turned out to be a busy day!
Just sitting down now. had 3 grandkiddies & their Mom's here this evening

Marshy, sorry about your Mom, I know it's rough. Will keep you both in my thoughts.

I saw the Daily OM today Greenie ~ so true that it's the little things that bring us happiness

Greetings bear, Deter, DG & everyone! Hope you all had a Fab day!

jenny, summer school sounds like the ticket for your son, that's great! I had my son seeing an educational counselor when he was in 7th-8th grade. Due to his ADD I feared he would fall behind when school became more dificult. He was taught some effective study skills which really boosted his self-confidence. I look at my young grandkids now & wonder what school will be like for them someday!

Wishing everyone a great AF night!
