Wow its been a really quiet day around here. Where is everyone? I'm sitting out on my deck enjoying this beautiful evening. Just took a huge leap and called my future in-law. She either wasn't home our just didn't answer. Its still kind of awkward between us but I'm really just trying to do the right thing here. 4 months until the wedding so hopefully things will get better. Hope everyone has a peaceful evening! Check in tomorrow

          Hey all!

Lots of exciting news here! I got my NJ license today - get it right up you NJ DMV. Moral of the story, don't offer them anything - just be assumptive.

But the big news is that my husband got his visa application approved pending medical and interviews! I am so happy I could scream! I did cry! I miss him so much and can't wait til he is here.

Good for you Cassia ~ things are working out just right for you

Hi Jolie - a beautiful evening for sure post heatwave

Well, I'm in for 3 days of fun! My best friend EB will be staying with me while his parents & baby brother are away
He stayed with me for several days last summer & we had a blast. EB is definitely into the 'Terrible Twos' right now but I will win every arguement because I have experience with two year olds

            Wishing everyone a great night!

                  Joyful June - week 1

I haven?t read back so hope everyone is well and but Good Morning guys from a very sunny and warm Scotland, it was a beautiful sunny day yesterday and looks like another today, it puts me in a good mood right away

I?ve been awake since 5.30 for no apparent reason so I?ve been tucked up in bed catching up on some paperwork. I?d better get a move on though and get Friday started.. I haven?t seen the weather forecast yet but I?m keeping my fingers crossed this lasts the weekend. Nothing exciting planned just a quiet one in the garden, finish a little cardi I?m knitting for one of the girls, do a bit of shopping and the usual domestic chores that appear. Think I?ll go look out a summer dress and pretend I?m on holiday today!!

Have a good AF Friday to all,

                  Dewdrop :h
Enjoy today - there will be no other one quite like it....

                    Joyful June - week 1

                    Good Morning Joyful Friends,

A cheery hello from Ohio! I'm trying to catch up on everyone's posts and haven't had much time to lurk much less post. I left for Toronto on Tuesday and haven't been home yet to catch my breath. I'm here for our annual conference and I'm having a wonderful time catching up with my co-workers, whom I only see at this time of the year.

Lav-have fun with EB! Yes, you are the experienced warrior when it comes to 2-year-olds...and, and, and....I can't wait to get home and find out what you have stitched up for me!:h

Papmom-soooo glad you are ok....I was reading about all the tornadoes and praying you were safe.

Jolie-CONGRATULATIONS ON 5 MONTHS AF!!!:yay::wd: You seem so positive and I'm happy for you.

Cassia-Congratulations on getting your license! And wonderful news about your husband....everything seems to be falling into place.

Star-good to see you....I'm glad the new job is turning out well for you, and I'll just have to quit pouting that now that you're traveling and are busier....I won't see as many of your in-depth posts.

Chill-Ugh....jobhunting is so frustrating, isn't it?:l I'm glad you're being selective, though. Good for you.

To everyone else, have a wonderful AF Friday!

                      Joyful June - week 1

                      Good morning all...

Friday and I don't have to work....I can't believe it. Well, the weather here has been just amazing, I have been bike riding for exercise, I just want to be outside. I feel so good from the energy of nature: smells, cool wind, deep rich colors. I feel going downhill like I am flying, and it makes me feel like a kid again. No, I don't wear a helmut, I am just in the neighborhood, not a long distance rider or anything.

I was browsing the internet and found some books on women's spirituality that I want to find....at the library preferably as I do not need more books in my house, I have no where to put them.

I am driving out to my Dad's today to pack up some things of my mom's, so it will be an emotional day for me. Seven years and it is still so hard. He is thinking of selling his house next year and my stepmother, a dear lady, wants to make sure I take what I want, which is so sweet of her. It is funny, what I am getting today, I am giving to my daughter......I have what I want to remember my mother, wearing her ring everyday of my life. But, last weekend it was decided that I would do this, and get a chance to visit, so I will. I am so grateful I have some time to do this with my new job. Yesterday morning I cleaned my house so I did not have to worry about that today.

Cassia, you warrior you, fighting the good fight at the bureau of motor vehicles. I actually have to get my marriage license by next year to renew mine....I will have to contact the county I was married in, etc., because I do not have a clue where it is. I have to prove who I am, what a pain in the neck. So, good for you.

Rusty, you sound busy as usual, it is good to be busy and productive. Hope you have time to relax this weekend. Thanks for missing me a little, I do usually check in every day.

Papmom, what scary weather you have been having. Keep safe.

Jolie, good on the 5 months AF, let us know the changes you have noticed in your life....I love to hear from others the positive benefits in all life areas. It keeps me motivated.

Chill, going back to school could be a great idea....I love learning, the school environment, fellow students, professors, etc. It could be a real adventure. I mean, in five years you will be five year older, so why not be five years older with a degree, certification or whatever your heart desires? I always feel that money spent on training is money well spent. I am so satisfied we paid for my son to become a CNA because he is now working for an agency, making good money and is doing useful productive work. Without the certification, he would not be in that place. I am supporting you and encouraging you to think about it.

Lav, you will have a busy, loving weekend. Take care of yourself!!! Two year olds are wild, in the best way.

To all, have a great AF Friday.

                        Joyful June - week 1

                        Hi Friends,

I'm back. I just wanted to add something here.....I'm at our annual conference and last night at the awards dinner, the company showed pictures from last year's event...there I was....frighteningly huge with this bloated, pumpkin face. It was this time last year that I had just started my drunk-free, AF journey. I gasped when I saw that picture of me on the big screen, and my sweet colleague sitting next to me (he's been sober for 20 years) said, "Rusty, you look so much better than you did last year." I also have a feeling of sadness. One of my co-workers and I started dating 6 years ago, way before my problem with AL had even begun. When we would go out together, it never seemed like he had an AL problem....he was soooo good-looking, so much fun, and full of life. 3 years ago, he admitted to me that he's an alcoholic and has been one for over 20 years. You should see him now:upset:....he's had a series of mini-strokes, and his hands shake, he's all gray and he has absolutely NO life left in him. The gorgeous man I fell head over heels for has aged so much and I seriously doubt he will be with us next year. He refuses to stop drinking. This is reinforcement for me to continue my AF life.

                          Hi Star,

Sorry....cross post. Great news about your son becoming a CNA! I'm so glad he got a job. I also wanted to send you massive hugs since you have to go through your mom's things....I'm getting teary-eyed just thinking about it. She was probably so proud of you, and especially now that you are AF. I'll be thinking of you today.

Today is the last day of our conference so I won't be checking in until later. I'm so glad I have my friends here to talk to.:h

Star, funny - I just gave my daughter my Mom's ring on Mother's day! I've kept it these past 25 years but never wore it, just couldn't. My daughter was very happy to receive her grandmother's ring on her first Mother's day.

Well, I'll be going to collect EB in a few hours. Wish me luck & lots of strength & energy this weekend - please:H

Aawwhh Jolie how well you have done ? what an accomplishment with 5 months and I hope you have celebrated by treating yourself to something nice. Papmom I hope the foul weather has completely passed you by and you are in for some blue skies, you deserve them. Rusty your story of sitting in the audience a year later speaks volumes and so eloquently of your journey, sometimes we don?t take the time to think back and congratulate ourselves on just how far we have come. I?m so sorry to hear of your friend, how sad. Star my heart goes out to you on your trip today and I know you will deal with the day with compassion and love. And Lav I just know that you will have a ball with EB, baking is my usual fallback as all kids no matter what age love mixing and measuring and licking the spoon!! Cassia your journey just gets better and better and your hubs will be with you soon,

I?m tired tonight so off to bed with me, I had a very good review with my Manager today so I am quietly chuffed with my progress so far. On my way home my son phoned and suggested dropping off for a coffee and blether at a local eatery and to my surprise he and his family were there and they had booked a table for dinner. It was a lovely surprise and I really enjoyed the evening, we had a table outside as the weather was still warm and the food was delicious - I had baked fillet of cod with curried clams and chicory salad, new potatoes and a side salad followed by a chocolate trio with homemade vanilla icecream..........

I wish you all a wonderful weekend, where are all the lurkers?

                              Dewdrop :h

on 5 months! That is soooo awesome!

Rusty-Hope you enjoyed the last day of the conference. Your story was very eye opening. :l to you!

Dew-what a lovely weekend you seem to have planned and what a lovely surprise dinner from your kids! Congrats on the good job review! I'm assuming "chuffed" means happy?

Star-hope your trip to your dad's was more sweet than bitter and that your daughter was truly grateful for your gift to her.

Cass-way to go!! I knew you would do it! Can't wait to hear your hubby is finally with you! Thank god for social media and cell phones tho, right??

Merry-keep up the great work! It does get easier!!

Chill! How was your day? Spill the beans!!

Lav-again, hope you're having a great time with EB. Just thinking about it exhausts me :H

Rustop-hope you can take some time this weekend to relax!

John-where are you??? Did you get another doggie yet?

LBH-how is your new doggie doing? How are you doing?

I officially started my 1 week staycation at 5pm today!! The weather is supposed to be fantasitc all week! I'm planning on spending most of my time working on the paphut, looking for a PT job and getting my finances in some semblance of order. Maybe I'll plant the veggie garden but won't be upset if I don't. The willow fence is almost all the way down. What a shame. But it wasn't meant to be.

Looking forward to actively participating with you all this week instead of lurking.
