    Wakey wakey!

Here's the new dirty dozen list: (try buy organic if you can)
    Celery
    Peaches
    Strawberries
    Apples
    Blueberries (Domestic)
    Nectarines
    Sweet Bell Peppers
    Spinach
    Collard Greens/Kale
    Cherries
    Potatoes
    Grapes (Imported)
I believe it's in order of dirtiness.

P3, Yesterday I had a work appt., a nursing home visit, a drywall dustbusting extravaganza and a bunch of mundane chores yesterday. Nothing exciting. Went to a really nice pool party Saturday. Seemed to be minimal drinking with the exception of one person which in the past would have been me but that's in the past. Their pool was sparkling with blue patterned tile and kaslo, they had a lush garden of a yard. Very small but packed with flowers.

M3, AWESOME you are pursuing yoga instruction! You'll make a wonderful teacher as your heart is really in it.

Scottish Lass and Bean, pull those big girl pants up nice and tight!

Kaslo, that is one amazing table you have there. Surely it will command big bucks?

Going to the river early since I'll be here for the bathroom guy. Leaving him here didn't work out too well. Guys don't see dust (drywall dust included). Therefore, preventive measures don't come to mind. However, I will gently place them there today, having blown out the garage and my office. You wouldn't believe what came out of the computer brain. There WILL be a plastic tent around the bathroom door today. Oh and I let him use my floor fan - I had to take it apart and clean it out and blow out the motor so I could use it in the house. Geeez!! OK, enough bitching. We will have preventive measures in place today.

I hope I'm awake enough to stumble through the woods or at least outrun the coyotes if need be.

    One thing's for sure!

We had a fox sighting on Saturday at 3:30 in the yard that backsup to mind. Very disconcerting. I think DD would chase him off but if LM were out alone he would look like a rabbit dinner. No coyotes yet but it's only a matter of time.

Fox will eat small critters, they will even keep ground moles in check. they are very small but seem bigger becuase their fur is so fluffy, they weigh about 25 pounds.
Enjoy your foxxy, they're sun to watch and what he eats is what eats your garden veggies

Hi eveyone hope you've all been well.... I miss you all.

        Good Monday morning Abbers!

Greenie, the cost of food, organic or not is getting outrageous! I'm feeding many from my garden this summer & happy to do so
I hear you about dry wall dust - have been through that many, many times in the past!

papmom, when I sleep with the windows open I can hear fox out in my yard. That's why I make sure the chickenhouse is closed up tight each night!!!

        Hello on my way!

Tme to get myself to work. Wishing everyone a terrific AF Monday!

          Morning troops and happy Monday!!

Trying to get back into the swing of things after spending the weekend at the lake - man the sun and fun takes a lot out of you. Thanks for kicking us off Green Machine, and I saw that list too. The big argument now is whether or not it is better to eat that produce simply to be eating produce, versus the extra cost of purchasing only organic. Personally think the benefits outweigh negatives, but I'd love to see the amount of pesticides reduced on everything. Course, then the public would be upset because their apples don't look perfect anymore!

Funny experience this weekend - they had a 5k where we were staying, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to test out the achilles. Besides, the fields were small and the winner of each category (Men, Women, & Kids) gets $25, so I thought 'what the heck.' So I'm cruising along, make my move at about mile 1, and am comfortably in the lead and am thinking that I've got some extra money to contribute to gas for the boat. Course at 2.75 miles I miss the turnaround and am blissfully running along the beach, only to realize after a quarter mile I'm going the wrong way! Oh well, still a great morning, and glad that I can laugh about it as opposed to getting upset (which I would have done in my drinking days).

          Have a great Monday everyone!

Good morning Abstinistas and Abstineros! Gawjus morning here. Crept off to spare room so not to wake the hub, snoring away there. Very stiff and sore. Apparently standing around talking to visitors all day from 9 AM to 4 PM with no breaks at all uses different muscles than gardening. Feeling great though.

Greeneyes, by dirty you mean pesticide use? Or preservative use? How did potatoes get on the list? Drywall dust is such a pain. Even if ya tarp off the area like your supposed to with plastic and tape, floor to ceiling, it still creeps in somehow.

PapM, I would consider myself very lucky to actually see a fox. Very beautiful, and useful creatures. They eat a lot of mice. But I guess they might kill chickens. In 30 years of working on wildlife I have never actually seen one. Coyotes I can understand a few concerns for your small animals and birds, tho, yeah. We have them here in droves, and have lost one cat to coyotes.

Hey Lav and AA! On my way, welcome back.

Everyone have a nice day. I am tempted to take the day off, but deadlines looming.

Hi fABbies! Special Monday greetings to Bean and Scottish Lass and anyone else who has been struggling lately. The only way to fail is to stop trying.

Greenie, thanks for getting us started today. WOW I am taking a lesson from the calm way you are handling the painter / dust situation. I heard something interesting today and I thought of you guys, and especially you Greenie. "Forgiveness is freeing the prisoner, and realizing the prisoner was you." Have fun at the river!

M3 - so fabulous you are going to become a yoga instructor!! I wish I could learn from you.

P3, I hear ya with the disconcerting comment about the fox. We have a coyote pack living right outside our fence. And sometimes inside our fence. My heart breaks every time is see a cat running loose in the neighborhood. Problem with them keeps getting worse. :upset: I feel sorry for the coyotes too....keep your little one safe!

OMW - great to see you! Where ya been? What's new??

Lav - what a great thing to do for your extended family with your garden! And eggs too I bet!

AA - I sure hear ya on that stinkin' thinkin'. We had a lively conversation at AA this morning about anger / resentment over small things and the impact it used to have, and the tools we have today to minimize the damage. How is your achilles feeling today?

Kaz - standing around all day KILLS me!!! I am much better off walking, running, lifting weights, gardening, etc. I had to leave a Mary Kay weekend event early because my back was KILLING me from standing! That was back in March. I don't think I'll be signing up for any more of those events!

I have taken to using a vegetable wash on all my store/farmers market bought produce whether it's organic or not. Here is some information about wash options for reducing pesticides and bacteria. How To Wash Pesticides Off Fruit & Vegetables: Easy Ways to Remove Chemical Residues from Fresh Produce | Suite101.com It includes wash recipes from common ingredients you already probably have at home.

9 people are watching the condom tin bid now. :H Still only one bid at $250 which is fine if it goes no further! More than fine! P3, I asked Mr. Doggy about your 10-day auction question. He says he wants the maximum number of people possible to see what is up for sale. He said he never does short auctions for that reason. He laughed and said patience is definitely a virtue when it comes to selling crap oops I mean treasures such as condom tins on e-bay. (he was laughing at me as I am generally the most impatient person he knows - this is why he is the e-bayer in our family!)

Well folks, I am incredibly grateful that I don't have to drink over life's little (or big) upsets today. The day got started with me having to wake up Mr. Doggy before 5AM, which he cannot stand. It is truly like waking a grizzly bear. A whole family of grizzly bears. I was so proud of myself for not taking it personally, not letting it upset me - AT ALL. That is a miracle!! In days of old I would have poured my first drink by 5:05AM and slurred through my appointment cancellations at 8AM. And then passed out by mid to late morning for a nap until mid afternoon. And then - hungover at 3PM - started drinking again. And pouting from my high horse at Mr. Doggy the entire time. Possibly for multiple days. Oh the self inflicted drama-misery I used to live in, and drink over. NOT TODAY FOLKS!!!

One thing is for sure....no drinking for this girl today.

                Good Morning!

Such a good morning! I don't have to spend the week recovering from the weekend, the weekend has to recover from me! I was a whorl wind of activity this weekend with homework and cleaning and yard work and playing with my family. It's so great. I hope I never go back! I like kick ass and taking names instead of having my ass kicked LOL. Guess what guys. . . I think I'm finally getting it. Day 44 today!

This weekend is 4th of July weekend and last year I was in a world of hurt, come to think of it the year before I was in a world of hurt also. This year is different. I will not watch the fire works through a haze this year. I will see the as clear as day and love every second with my family!

Thank you guy's! You are my rock.

Right. Am back and I'm going to do this. 100 days AF. I got to 97 or something earlier this year so I know I can do it.

I made the mistake of not making any plans this weekend - just worked and was alone which made me feel lonely and that I 'deserved' the treat of a drink. I'm taking all my empties to the recycling today and going to make a new health/fitness goal so that I am motivated to work towards something.

Feels good to get that determined feeling back again.

EWG (enviornmental working group) makes a dirty dozen list of produce most heavily contaminated with pesticides. They also have a clean 15 list which are the least contaminated. By using this list, I switched from blueberries to pineapple to pair with banana in my smoothies. Organic blueberries are financially out of my reach. I try not to eat the skin of the part of the tree fruit near the stem. That's where the stuff pools when sprayed. EWG in fact rates all kinds of stuff - I research my skin and hair products - they are really on a sunscreen mission regarding toxic ingredients and false claims regarding protection. EWG's Shopper's Guide to Pesticides | Environmental Working Group | EWG.org

OK, the color of the tile is totally different now that I see it IN the shower. It's an easy 3 shades darker. Fine - it is what it is. I will deffinately lighten up the paint color though. OMMMMmmmm...... DG I realize I HAVE to be calm. The alternative isn't pretty and I know that. It's also unnecessary. I consciously try to remember to choose peace or at least reel myself in :H. I completely get the prisoner concept. "Forgiveness is the scent of the violet on the heel that crushed it." Mark Twain

Jen, good job on planning a busy weekend and bean that's really important to see how your lack of a plan went south. Yes, you CAN do 100 days!

AA, BTW, I loved the shingles! A new roof is in my near future I'm afraid. Were they terribly more expensive than a mundane roof?

And she lays blue eggs because she has blue tail feathers????? She is gorgeous!!

Way to go Greenie with not stressing over the tiles. Going lighter with the paint will be very nice and I think you will be pleased with the end result. OK, you have to be :H

Bean-great job figuring out your trigger. Now try to figure out other ways to "treat" yourself. I'm still figuring that out and sometimes its as simple as just sitting still for a few minutes. Sometimes it's a pedicure.

Thanks DG for checking with Mr. Doggie. Guess that makes sense. I'll have to try it. Might need to get a straight jacket off of Ebay first tho!!

Jen-you rock girl!! Isn't it great taking inventory of all you've gotten done??

OMW-great to see you again. I do like foxes, just NIMBY :H. I've gotten very used to letting the boys out by themselves while I get a few more things done in the 10 minutes of peace. Even with a fenced in yard I no longer feel comfortable doing that.

AA-you are too funny! Glad you enjoyed your run anyway.

Kas-wow! non stop visitors?? That's fabulous! Hope your group raised some good money for their cause. Don't be surprised if a motorhome shows up in your driveway someday!! You'll know it's me by the pink color and the barking!!

So I was bemoaning the fact that I didn't do as much as I wanted this weekend but today I took inventory and I did a shite load of stuff! Some of it was really small-like cleaning out the freezer and reorganizing the container cupboard but now that it's done I feel so much better!! I have to remember not to ride myself so hard.

Non eventful day EXCEPT I found out that the Dog Whisperer is coming to Providence RI in Dec!! It's his only New England stop and I WILL be there!!
Other than that, just keeping my head down and trying to get as much work done as possible.

Last nite I ran out of my RLS meds and decided to take 2 Ambien to make up for it. Didn't sleep one fecking minute. Totally serious. My Rx is filled and I better sleep like a baby tonite or you'll hear me roaring clear across the Pond!! Hi Mario!!
