Hi Tahula!!! Sounds like you have a plan to get you started. Welcome aboard the AF train.

In addition to posting your daily goals, etc. here, you are welcome to join any of the Monthly AF threads. There is a great group on AF Daily, and there is also a great group on the AF Weekly thread. Some people post to both! Whatever helps you get through the AF day. We are all here to help! YOU CAN DO IT! I was such a hopeless drunk pouring drinks instead of coffee every morning, in the end. I couldn't stay AF until noon, much less a whole day. And now it's been 3 years AF. If I can do it, and all these other people can do it, you can do it too.

Thank you beautiful people ~ I need the help and support, so will most definitely head over to the daily/weekly threads as well....

          Well ~ I didn't do it yesterday :O(

Picking myself up ~ any suggestions folks: What I thought today would be:

          :listen to the cd
:stock up at supermarket on mineral waters etc
          :a dose of laughter yoga
:a walk in the sunshine by the water
ositive self talk _ "water is my favorite beverage - I can do this - I am in control"

I was guided to a church yesterday - I went in, sat down and asked the Lord to give me the strength and courage to kick this.

Thanks again folks - I need the support xxx

          Day one - today!!

Hi Tahlula. Sorry to read of your difficult day, but do not despair. If this were easy, there would be no MWO, AA, SMART Recovery, Zillions of books and treatment centers, etc. The important thing is to assess what went wrong and adjust your plan. The only way to fail is to quit.

What happened? Let us know if you would like some specific feedback. Asking for help was one of the hardest things I had to learn how to do, but it was also one of the best things. My sobriety depends on it - I can't do this alone.

Thanks DG ~ I don't know what happened - just that 'thought' yay, I'll have a drink popped into my head... BUT yesterday, was different: I did a power walk when that urge came along - I used affirmations and sipped on some mineral water when I got back. My mindset is a whole lot more focused now - here I come!!!! I have planned out my week - was meant to be having drinks on Friday... I have cancelled, I don't want to be put in that situation at this early stage - NO NO NO...

              Thanks again :h

Good job Tahlula! Those thoughts become easier to manage when we are on the lookout for them, understand them for what they are (lies), and have a strategy for dealing with them. You are doing GREAT!! Good for you on canceling Friday. The way I figured it, I would have the rest of my life to be around drinkers if I want to. I didn't need that when I was struggling to break free. My freedom is more important than any one social event, or anyone's opinion. I don't care much what other people think these days. I care a lot more about my own self respect, and what *I* think of me.
