Good Mornin? All ?

I just cleared Day 5 of being AF. It feels great except 3PM to 8PM. The other 19 hours are awesome! So I guess I can trade 5 bad for 19 good!

It looks to be a nice start to the day. I need that. Son #1 left an ink pen in his pants which went into the washer with a bunch of my clothes. The short story is that I am headed to the Mall at lunch to start on my new wardrobe.

Pap ? how was the party Sunday? Bet you had a great time!

Top o' the mornin' IJM! Love your analysis of 19 good hours v. 5 bad. Very logical. And as you already know, the 5 bad will become less and less until it's zero. Wow - 5 days already! Time flies! Have fun shopping!

Yes...I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the P3 report! Hope you had fun!

I went by the rent-o-dump - oops I mean investment property yesterday. Mr. Doggy is right - a lawn mow and trim sure made a world of difference! The place looks fairly presentable. It does need a little patching to a stucco type exterior. (don't know if it's stucco or something else, but it's painted!) I'm thinking we should give the whole thing a fresh coat of paint if we can swing it in the budget when the "must do" stuff is done. He was working very late last night so I was asleep - and now he is asleep - so I'm sure there will be interesting stuff in the morning report later!

I'm sitting on my hands until this afternoon, when I will call the college to see if they show receipt of my transcript. I believe it is there because I got my copy Friday. Dont' know how long it takes them to file this stuff. P3, any ideas on how this typically works?

Mean time, getting ready to make calls at 8AM to see how big of a problem the past due utility bills are going to be.

One thing is for sure, no time for drinking today!

Good morning Fabstinikis this morning is a going to be fast cause I am off to the site of megadeath. Then I am done and back to Vancouver tonight. Its been almost two weeks since I left home.

DG hope the Ebills dont eat your Income. IJM congrats on Day 5. I dont know your story but I gather you are a returnee. Please everyone dont hesitate to give advice and your thoughts on not going back to IT..

I gotta pack up, saddle up and mosey out. Long long drives ahead, will check in at the airport I guess.

Nothing new on my front, just keeping on keeping on. Can't believe that the tour (De France) is over already - what am I supposed to watch now!! :H Anyway, nothing useful to say so I'll be on my way.... Hope everyone has a fantastic Monday.

I feel for you about the pen in the washer/dryer. I still have ink stains inside my dryer from those days :H

IJM, Congrats on 5 days. Five - 8 0'clock was my witching hour too. Just keep planning how you are going to spend your time and stay busy.

DG, Can't wait to hear about the college application. Sounds like you could go through that rental property with a sand blaster. DG, the satellite radio I was listening to was in the car....Sirius ks the name.

Loppy Lugs, So proud of you for making it through a rough patch. Those moments are bound to come up during the early days and ya just have to ride em through. Once you have some significant AF time under your belt, those overwhelming urges will be few and far between and when they do appear, they are much less intense.

Kaslo, love hearing about your adventures. I used to travel quite a bit but not since I've had kids. I think I would have found sobriety to be challenging as a traveler.

OMG I stayed drunk as a skunk during my years as a road warrior. Do skunks actually drink? do they get drunk? Those seem like good questions for IJM - the question man. :H

Kaz I nominate you to start a series of novels. My grandpa used to read some series of "Westerns." I bet yours would be better. Travel safely today!

Hi AA - how much rain did you get? It was pretty reasonable where I live. Much needed, and not too much flooding.

Lav, the chickens would fit right in with the old tires somebody dumped there on Saturday night. :H (I guess they figured since we are cleaning up garbage on the property we'll clean up their garbage too??? ) I will let Mr. Doggy know you have offered!

M3 - how do you get sattelite radio in your car? Is it a variation of FM? AM? (I'm seriously no teknik about this stuff!)

No worries on the utilities. The water company had a lien but it was paid off (by the seller - the bank) at closing. I guess ComEd and Nicor never do liens. They just dog the person who owes them money for the rest of their life and make their credit miserable.

afternoon - whizzing in - off to see harry potter 3d - very excited.
still struggling - read life ring book and rational recovery - seems to make most sense to me.
Keeping on keeping on - bowed to friends pressure on Friday and drank almost bottle of wine and so then had 2 beers next day in evening.
New plan - rational recovery Jack Trimpey's small book - but mostly listening to my self and reclaiming my power!!!!.

Done a lot of thinking about why i lapsed/how I bow to others' pressure in many areas of my life - onwards.This stops."I never now drink"

Well, I"ll explain the satellite radio as best I can for I am not technically competent either. We bought a new van last July and it already came with satellite capability. It was a free service for the first 6 months then they were going to charge an enormous amount for continuing. We were able to talk them down to a small fee. So, I guess the bottom line is the car has to have satellite capability....that's all I know

Something is falling from the sky!!? Could it really be rain?? Yay!!

DG, I have a sirius radio (size of a very large cell phone) and when my CD player in the car died, I bought a new radio/CD player that was equipped with a plug-in for the sirius radio unit and a fixed docking station for it. And they installed the sirius antennae. So I paid Norton Stereo for the radio and installation and I pay sirius an annual fee. New cars come with satelite reception capablitiy so you can pay sirius or pandora or whomever and you don't mess with hardware. Si? Oui? Our local radio stations suck. That is all.

Bear if your friends are pressuring you to drink after all this time, you might want to re-evaluate those friendships. Or perhaps they don't know of your struggle - in which case you could either level with them or stay home until you are more stable.

Kaz I was suprised when you said 2 weeks! It doesn't seem like that long (from MY end anyway which happens to NOT be in backcountry) :H

Way to push through it IJM and Loppy!! P3 hoping to hear about the party and how your doggies fared at the hoarder's oops I mean boarder's. :H:H

I've got that afternoon coffee habit going again. Grrrr...

Mof 3 - it's a Rational Recovery saying - way of saying never drinking again - similar to one day at a time but RR doesn't recommend one day at a time approach,saying that if you say one day at a time it's a never ending on going mental struggle,and convinces you it's too hard. RR theory is it's 'the beast' that struggles with 'never' not your sober self.
It just appeals to me more than AA way.

Working on the not being controlled by others, approval seeking/people pleasing is my achilles heel. Working on pleasing myself this week.

I have a proposal for a way of thinking when presented with drinking situations:

often times in our drinking days we'd think (often the next day) how nice it would be to hit the rewind button and do the night over again differently. so...... the next time your out with friends or just have a crazy drinking thought press the Fast Forward button and look at what you see. Imagine what's going to happen in an hour, 4 hours, next morning etc.

anyway just a thought.
