AF daily - Tuesday, July 26th

    Greenie,

Girl Dog is a stray who moved in here just about 8 years ago. The Vet thought she was about 2-3 years old at that time (looking at her teeth?). She a mix of Southern Coonhound & something else (unknown). She was skinny when she first arrived but I think she had been living rough for a while. I got her weight up to 50 lbs & that's where she's been until this past winter. At 30 lbs she really does look like a walking skeleton. It's sad because she doesn't behave like a sick dog but one who wants to live.
The book is indeed a good one even if it did bring tears to my eyes a few times this afternoon in the waiting room of the mechanic's shop :H
I am a person who has taken care of everyone & I'm just going to have to stop if I ever want any peace, right??

Quick afternoon check-in. This was a busy day but I am now setting back enjoying my new habit of Peach tea!

DG ? awesome news about school. I considered going back for an MS degree a year or so ago. Got to the registration part then chickened out. I just don?t think I have it in me to go back. And by the way, I think your dog eats better than I do. I love catfish! You should make her some hushpuppies and slaw to go with it.

Kaslo ? I?m not sure why but you just dredged up a memory I want to share. Until a few years ago I traveled as an on-site trainer for our software. I used to get to go to some nice places and that was back when companies hardly even looked at your expense report so you could stay about anywhere. I was fond Marriott & Embassy Suites (and still am). At any rate, I had a weekend gig in Claremore, OK. The only hotel in town was the (and I?m not making this up) ?Will Rogers Best Western Hotel?. I checked in and the first thing I noted was the velvet bed spread. That was accented by a velvet picture of Elvis on one wall and a velvet picture of Jesus on the other wall. In the bath tub was a dead cock roach on its back close to the size of a dog! After one night there I checked out and went to a Marriott in Oklahoma City and drove into town for the rest of my stay.

Greeny ? do I detect a bathroom remodel in the works?

Since I am sharing stores, I?d like to share some images of my afternoon:

This is what I saw at the gas pump when I got done filling up my vehicle?.

This is what the thermometer in my truck showed as I left work?..

Ok, it?s time to start cooking dinner so I will see the gang later!

        Hello Fabber Abbers,

DG, Congrats on officially being a student. A whole new adventure unfolds. No matter how old you are, 29, 29, or 29......you're never too old to learn!! I completely agree with your comments to Bear. I had to become completely humble and commit myself to doing whatever it took to kick alcohol in the pants forever. I have observed that the folks who continue to relapse (and some we never hear from again) are will only go so far in terms of what they are willing to give up in order to quit for good.

Marshy, What fabulous photos of Greece. So happy to hear that you had a great time. Not such great news about your mum but you will absolutely love the hospice folks. They will take good care of her.

Lav and Greenie, Weather was considerably cooler here in the DC area today. I could actually walk out the door and breathe.

One more day of work and then I am leaving Thursday morning to take my two youngest daughters to the beach for two days.

Kaslo, chilling story about the drunk woman in the elevator. When I was traveling and racking up alot of frequent flyer miles, I would upgrade to first class. If it was a long flight, I would get absolutely shit faced because of free drinks. Classy, huh?

Forgot to mention what my oldest daughter said to me while driving her to camp. Out of the blue she said, "Mom, you don't have to worry about me becoming one of those teenagers who drinks. I think people who are drink are stupid. Alcohol and drugs should both be illegal." Amen!!! I wish I knew that when I was her age.

Uni, I am just so happy with how upbeat your posts are of late. I think you must have rid yourself of some serious baggage while you were away at rehab.

Treya, Congrats on making it through a challenging night.

        Goodnight all,
        M3

:H:H They NEED a collar and leash down here in the SE.

Not exactly a remodel. There was a leak that warranted all the tile being ripped out so it's the same bathroom shape & size, just new tile, paint, vanity, fixtures, and it took a year and a whole lot of fecking anxiety on my part. Visualizing is not my specialty and the lack of that ability gets in the way.

Annie's Shitake Sesame Vinegarette is fabulous! That is all.

M3 what beach are you going to go to?

Oh Lav I am so sorry Girl Dog has that pancreatic thing. That is so sad. ((((Girl Dog & Lav)))))

Greenie, I bet your bathroom is fabulous now!! It is an awesome spot for a hot bath with all the proper atmosphere for complete relaxation? You deserve it :crowned:

IJM, Wow - 90.00 for a fill up!!!! My explorer took about $75 at the height of gas prices. :egad: Wouldn't trade it for anything though. With all these dots and a big property, I need to be able to haul major crap. And dogs. I love the direction finder/thermometer. I couldn't live without that direction gizmo. Next care will definitely have to have one. Steering wheel optional, but must have a direction finder!

M3 - that is AWESOME what your oldest daughter said. I too wish I had been that smart.

Well, it's a little crazy around here with Mr. Doggy trying to juggle regular business and rent-o-dump oops I mean investment property. My life is much simpler.

Went for a long walk when I got home from school - first time in ages. It's been so hot. Could always go to the gym though so no excuses for being such a lazy ass for several weeks! Will be sore tomorrow I'm sure.

Off to shower, then log into the college web site to figure some stuff out, and browse through my books.

            One thing is for sure..

              Greenie,

Going to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Haven't been there in a long while. We usually head south to the Outer Banks. Rehoboth is closer though...3 hrs.

                Hi all,
I've been reading here everyday, y'all are so busy! It looks as if everyone is doing well, Bear is struggling abit it seems though.

I am AF and have been for almost 2 weeks. I have bunches of homework! Today two test and a quiz, yesterday 2 homework and a test and 9 hours of work daily! Wow I never knew I could do all this!

This is the last weekend for two classes, after Aug 4 its one class till the 18 then on the 29 three classes for the fall semester start. I hope they will go slower since its over 4 months and not 4-6 wks like the summer classes.

I'll check in this weekend again. One day at a time till then. Money is tight and stress in my house is high because of that. Hope our gas in the cars holds until Friday morning!

Night guy's. AF one day at a time. Becides who has the time to drink and recover anyway?

Just closed up the chicken house for the night & found my four youngsters roosting on the roof rafter instead of their usual roost :H :H
If they managed to get up there I suppose they can get down again :H

congrats DG on officially becoming a college student again! I'm happy to hear you are in a formal program and not just taking classes. You'll be able to bond with the other students in the program-it will be great!
RE: raw feeding. You do give extra supplements in addition to the gourmet catfish tenders and potatoes right?

Lav-so sorry to hear about girl dog. Sounds like chronic Pancreatitis. Here is an article from B-Naturals newsletter (highly recommended) which includes recipes for homemade diet specifically for Pancreatitis. Read the whole article-really explains well what it is and what to do/not to do for it.
Pancreatitis | B-Naturals.Com Newsletter Hope GD gets better!

Marshy-welcome back! Loved the pics! So glad you had a great time but sad your mum isn't doing well. I sure hope Hospice can get her back to her old self soon and help her with the pain

Kas-great story!! I'm sure I did my share of stumbling back to my room on the rare times I was in a hotel on business. Mostly conventions so I was probably in good company!!

                    Greenie-congrats on finishing the bathroom!

Uni-I agree-you sound terrific! Keep up the good work!

Trey-congrats on getting through the weekend!

IJM-yea! 7 days!! I can't imagine paying $90 for a tank fillup!! I pretty much faint at $55 which I did tonite!! Prices are about the same. I paid 5 cents more for mine tonite.

M3-have a great time at the beach!! Your daughter is one smart cookie!!

                    Did I miss anyone?

Tornadoes again today-same area but no confirmed touchdowns-just funnel clouds seen. Shudder. All over by the time I was halfway home to rescue the kids so I changed direction and went to quilting afterall. On that, the shit is hitting the fan on some slopping measuring and piecing. I have some rehab work to do next week.

Still no word from Job #2a. I give you permission M3 to give her whatfor!! I think I am definitely going to call tomorrow. This has got to end somehow.

Getting nervous about the trial this weekend. Not sure I have enough money to pay for the hotel room and yet I don't want to eat the entry fees. I have to decide by tomorrow morning or I forfiet a nights room fee. Damn. Crap. Will pray for inspiration tonite.

I'd rather have a rack of lamb, than a lack of ram.
