Mom3, I really liked hearing of your recent revelations over dinner with associates. I find myself daydreaming on the issue very often. it's hard to be 100% positive when reflecting on such things, but I try.

Although they are saying otherwise, I think the worst is over. The rain has died down but the winds remain constant in the 30-40 mph range. I am hearing on the scanner that trees and lines are coming down on my side of town now but so far so good in my neighborhood. Might even let the pups out in the yard without a life line:H

Lav-how you doing? did the girls survive? did the chicken coop? A friend in Bethsalem just got her power back on so maybe you're next!

M3, that sadness you felt sounds similar to the very deep and intense sadness I felt when I was at the University in Akron earlier this summer. I was taking a walk around campus at sunrise - not many people out then. Very quiet and reflective. I cried like a baby thinking about how I wasted my college years being wasted instead of soaking up the educational environment and experience.

I think that was a subconsicous turning point in the subsequent decision to go back to school. I don't think I realized how much I was really thinking about it deep down.

So glad everyone is making it through the storm! Here's hoping Lav's power comes back on soon.

I just finished the last of the 10 article write ups I have to do for one of my classes. They aren't due until mid September but now they are out of the way and I can focus on reading/studying stuff that will actually be on the Mid term and final. How's that for some strategery!

One thing is for sure...

Hey again Abbers!

Still no power, generator has been humming since 2 AM! But at least the cable has been restored - internet & TV :yay:
Using my phone to login here is a pain!

All humans, animals & structures came thru the storm just fine

have a bunch of branches to pick up, leaves stuck to everything, nothing major. A cornfield just down the road looks like a small tornado went through it though. Hopefully the power will come back on before the generator sucks the 1,000 gal propane tank (buried in the front yard) dry!!!! Costs a fortune to fil that sucker!

Deter, I understand the linliness thing - I really do but I will never try to soothe myself with AL again. Didn't work real well for me in the past, did it?? You just pull up those BBPs & get busy doing something healthy

Good Job Deter! Glad to hear the lonliness set in later than usual. Each year it will get better and better until one year you'll say to DX: Huh? You're home already??

Papmom, I like Burning Man at night, but the days are just waaaay too hot and dusty for me. hours of blasting dirt is just ridiculous after a while and my lungs can't take it. and I get heat rash from the intense heat. and there are no proper showers! if I were able to afford it, I'd take an air conditioned RV out there and that would be A OK.

Lavande, so glad all are good and accounted for there.

I definitely would not hold up in that heat & dust either Det! Stay put & be well

Not sure what the current cost of propane/gallon is today papmom ~ not cheap of course & I'm not sure how much the generator is consumig either. My STM is like a sieve

Many neighbors are running generators - you can hear them all.
In addition to all that noise I heard something else around 5 pm & found it was my brother-in-law on his tractor cutting grass. Really, I think idiocy runs in that family :H :H

Kids are staying agin tonight as they have no power at their house either. Don't mind the company one bit

Hey guys...I've been following the thread to make sure everyone came through the storm ok...looks as if you did so thats good.

DG-glad your liking school. Can you believe the homework though! I don't ever remember doing that much! I start my third semester tomorrow at 6pm. I can't wait! I have two on campus classes and one online.

Hello to everyone else! Special shout out to bear. I'm right there with you hon and I will be joining after my failed (of course) attempt to control al. This time was not nearly as bad as May 15 but my 15 year old told me to stop acting like a toddler which is a wake up call. I don't want them to have memories of me out of control drunk or out of control ever sober or not sober. I am the adult so I should be one. I have a problem and there is only one fix so now it's time to fix it. I'm in it to win it this time around no more BS! Ok so success is my only option, failer is not. ODAT. I'm so sorry to everyone for my wishy washyness in participation on this thread. I will try not to let it happen again. Thank you for unconditional support!
