Good Morning, Guess I'll Get us started here.

Day 18. Holiday twinges and tugs, but greatfully, nothing huge: nothing like many are going through.

    Here's to us all.

    Hi cap

    You have done well.

This is day three for me. I went out on the weekend at my parents place and met my dads 1/2 brother and had 1 1/2 of C.Pan before then i hasn't had a drink for one week, so you have done very well.

    You are going great

    Take care

Congratulations to Deb and Cap and others to follow. Day two wine-free for me. I haven't gone two days in a row in over three years. Hee Haw! I walked during wine o clock and didn't let myself become hungry and ate healthy foods. Doesn't that seem simple? I guess it is in a way.

        Hi All,

Maggie, coming home and eating FIRST is a great way to ward off cravings. When I first started ABS, I found that if I prepared and ate a good dinner (even a simple one) with some protein and good carbs fairly soon after arriving home, it just made the rest of the evening so much easier. Before that, I would have a glass of wine the first thing, and of course, I would lose my motivation to cook, much less eat!

        Keep up that walking, Deb!

And Capto, you're doing great. Glad the tugs and twinges aren't too bad at this point.

Have a great day to all who come on here, whether posting or not!

        Hugs,

I cannot wait to get my Campral that is on order from Europe so that I can post here. It was shipped on 12-12 and is taking forever to get here.

Be well. I will be an ABS'er soon.

            Lucky,
Why don't you see a doc to get it prescribed, that way you can get it quicker!

            Maggie,
Keep up the good work, speaking as a person who has pretty much been drunk 4,5,6,7 times a week for the last 3 or 4 years, I can tell you that you CAN and WILL do this. Baby steps, but it will work. Good luck!

Oops, wanted to throw this out there: Last Tuesday I had a bad slip up that resulted in bad things happening. Wanted to thank the board members for helping me out in chat and on the board. So let this be a public reminder to me: I will not drink tonight. I will not make the same mistake again! :thanks:

I don't want an anti-drinking drug going through my insurance. Paranoid that way- or maybe smart that way. I sure wish it would come though. It should arrive 12/22- 12/24. Hope it does not get delayed due to the holiday mail.

I hear ya, but HIPPA regulations do prevent anyone from looking at your medical records. Of course, you are right, I'm sure the right kind of connected people could find out, but I never see myself going for a job where that company would have the resources to do such a thing!

Mine would- trust me. They look @ my driving record too and I hear potential employers look @ debt-to-income ratio (beside the point, I know ). And if I get an ailment, I don't want to not be covered by insurance because alcoholism brought the condition on and is then seen as a pre-existing illness. Maybe I will investigate HIPPA more to determine if I am overly paranoid or not.

So, Campral will arrive probably the day before Christmas. What is the point of starting it then? Takes 5 days to kick in so I might as well wait for the new year. I guess there is no reason for me to be so eager, but am anyway.

Paranoid? Cautious? Some say tomato, some say to-ma-toe! Look at what happened to all of those Katrina survivors whose insurance is now not paying them because the damage is "flood" damage! I am fortunate that Maryland has a program where self-employed people can get insurance through the state that is not public insurance where you can pay REASONABLE premiums, or else I'd be up a creek without a paddle! Between my daughter and me, no other insurance company would touch us for under $1,000 a month!!! HIPPA rules DON'T PREVENT OTHER insurance companies from checking you out, though, although your employer is probably unable to get hold of your records. But don't let that stop you from checking it out, lucky. Insurance companies are out to make money.....bottom line.

                    Hugs from the sunshine girl,

Once read a Bill Bryson book that said that one company trawled it's employees medical records to find out which people they thought may benefit (ie be more productive for the company) from a dose of Anti Ds...also know from a friend of a friend (yeah, that old chestnut) that many companies are able to get all manner of so called personal information on people.........Cautious??? I think that you have to do whatever you feel comfortable with ...........Good luck for the start date lucky .....xoxoxoxo
Cap...hope the twinges stay at a manageable level...it's a tricky time of year...and as you so rightly say...here's to us all
Deb and Maggie....huzzah! good news....YatH is right about the food...I find that is what I want to do now though...I never used to think about sustenance first...just used to fill the wine hole up, then binge eat crappy cheese on toast, biscuits, mashed potatos and half cooked lumps of meat (never had time to wait for the middle to be done). I now eat pretty much as soon as I get in the door, and when I'm off work...I now eat 4 or 5 smaller meals to keep the 'satisfied' feeling going...hopefully then there won't be room for another.
Andy....glad you are feeling better...here's to another hangover free morning!!
And YatH....thank you for your posts...I always read with interest...whether it's a funny, a tough situation, or just advice...your messages speak volumes, you give a lot of yourself here, and I for one, take great advantage of the outpourings of your grey matter

Have a great day all Melon xoxox

Long story short: So I am basically all alone in the office right now. All the employees decided to go to the bar for a quick holiday drink/lunch. I'm glad I didn't go. Anyway, no real point to this story, just wanted to pat myself on the back I guess. Maybe this will inspire others, regarding holiday parties.

Lucky...I'll play doc for you in case you aren't aware of instructions regarding campral. Yes, you do have to wait five days.....then take TWO pills three times a day. I take them with meals and it works out well. I also take three kudzu three times a day with the Campral and like the combination. Good luck (and ignore if you already know these intructions.)
