AF Daily - Sunday October 30

hey there - no real tips on withdrawing from caffeine - apart from drink lots of water/maybe cut down by cup a day for a week but sounds like you have done the hard work and gone cold turkey already.Have you tried red bush/roobois tea? Caffeine free but has minerals in and perks you up.

I was up early this am for skating - good session.Totally unable to do it last week due to hangover - as was one of my team mates. Read some women for sobriety lit and really like it's positive focus - liking the goals bit - and focusing on 13 steps 1 each am.
I am still focusing on number 1 'I have a life threatening condition that once had me - I accept the responsibility for my life and my condition'.

Anyway washing to do, cats to hang out with, dates to book with friends, planned menu for next week - we are getting a takeaway pizza tonight, mmm. Day 9 - double figures tomorrow!

Day off tomorrow - sleep in, chores, looking for curtains and curtain poles and a few other bits. Then off to gym, anyway - see you all later
    one day at a time

Hey Fabstinencers, cross post with Bear, WELL DONE BEAR...you sound so great! A special hello to P3, hope your power is up soon (your trees should be ok if they didnt break limbs off due to snow weight). LV you were going to send me pix of trees, but I think we sorted that out right? Or no? Greenie love your enthusiasm re barbering, smudging sounds good. Uni enjoy your daughters birthday, what year is this? Cab, i feel your pain re 8.... I wish I had been less hard handed with my girl when she was acting out as a preteen. I think 8 is where some of them start testing boundaries again, and giving her choices and decisions, listening to her, making her feel like she has a say in stuff might help. Get buy-in is what Im sayin. God knows when they get to preteen teen it can be very rough indeed. DG have yez been getting any DG time in that is not book-keeping, booklearning, etc? Lav have a great day in Lavaland. I hope YB is not an Eeyore today.

Yesterday was great, got the bed laid out and a friend showed up and helped shovel the rest of the soil into the barrow and spread it, while the Mr Kaslo stood around and watched. there was a small wood pile in the way, which I split and moved to the main pile, too. So I am a bit sore today but I feel terrific! I almost always have to go to the loo in the middle of the night, and every time i am trying not to wake up too much I remind myself of how much better I feel. The friend that came yesterday quit 7 years ago. He is much younger than me, and a wonderful person, and I told him he was inspiring to me. He said he almost never even thinks of it now. I cant believe how much health I wasted on a bad habit, but I love my life now. And i didnt before.

So today I will take divisions of plants even though its raining and cold, and put them in the new bed, and dig the fecking gladiolus bulbs up. And maybe buy a small tree! Whoo hoo!

Have a great great LateOct sunday everyone. One thing is for sure...

Ahoy Fabuskas across the fruited plains!!!!!!!!!!

a loverly slow peaceful day in the high desert, cool and sunny with moderate to severe garlic odor

well i'm thinking I must be more gluten intolerant than I had previously figured. was cheating a bit eating non-paleo on my last road trip and starting to feel a bit crappy. then came home and Dx had left some evil French bread laying around. noooooooo! so I had a couple slices yesterday and now I have URQ (upper right quadrant) pain and overall abdominal bloating. I've tried the elimination thing some time ago thinking it was fat/s but that wasn't it. the only two things that trigger it are AL and simple carbs from sugar and wheat products. I've heard that it's common for fructose/sucrose to trigger similar responses to grain in those with celiac/gluten intolerance.

ok, now that I've bored the living crap out of you all.

Kas, sorry I missed your inquiry on chat. from the main page there are two links if you scroll down a ways. one for subscriber chat (nobody ever there these days) and one for the regular chat. see you there soon eh? oh Lav, Turn and I took a vote and decided that you should come to chat too. Democracy in action LOL

Dx is off to Vegas today with friends so she'll be gone a couple days, no biggie but I miss her even if it's only a day. yes I'm a big softie.

Greenie, you had 6 male partners in one day? er.... clients? neither one of those sounds right....help? at any rate if you could do something with my hair I'd be pretty surprised. I used to go to the barber shop that was on my driving route (easy off/on the Hwy) but then I discovered I can pull my hair out in clumps with this terrible 15 dollar Chinese clipper! weeeeeee! must get a better one soon.

Uni, time flies when your having AF!!! hooray!

arritey, off to enjoy a loverly AF day

        be well peeps

yep, power came back on around 11:33 am EST(OK, exactly). After I had taken a luke warm shower! :H Ate lunch got ready for work (half day), got in car and ........ Nothing. Nada, zip, zilch. Must have left a door ajar abit when I put the car back in the drive after snowblowing. Bummer. Still waiting for AAA. Wow, twice in 2 days!! Gots to be a record! 2 hour wait this time-no red flags!!

Only lost 1 tree!! Main leader snapped right off. Boo hoo. but the other one which I thought I lost is fine, my ichyanthis (sp?) is fine but I did have to rescue it and the lilac too. See some branches broken tho so will have my bro prune both up before winter REALLY sets in!

Was supposed to have dinner at Sis's but her power is still out so that's cancelled.

We definitely got almost 2 feet but already the melting has begun (after all that work!!).

Greenie-6 more clients!! that's so FAB!!

Uni-whoo hoo! can't wait to party on the 3rd!!

DG-you must have the busiest Sunday ever!!

Det-hang tight with DX gone today-You too IJM! Be strong my handsome men!!

Kas-I'm so jealous you can still do garden stuff!! We might get back to normal for a week or so but I don't know. Still hoping to get the privacy fence up in a week or two.

GAC-nice job on the party!! Go you for staying up till midnight cleaning!! Must have felt good this morning!!

          Hey Treya and Turn!

          OK AAA-any time now......

I just have to say that I love you guys!!!! I love coming on here and reading all of our wild and whacky and supportive posts. It's the highlight of every day.

Just had to say that! Off to eat B'day cake - pretty sure that's not on anyones diet but yea know, I'm gonna do it anyway! LOL

Every day is a day to start over and remember that I am powerless over my addiction. I will no longer give the BEAST any power over me - he can go straight to hell.

                  This rings my bell.
                  Jo Dunning
It has been astounding to witness the changes in our earth, in our awareness and in our consciousness and in our leaders. People are starting to wake up all around us. Those we have known for years are starting to listen to us with curious new interest, or make comments about life and experiences from a new point of view or insight. It is a joy to watch the changes happening in more and more visible ways.

Now is the time to really continue to live your life from the highest response you are able to offer. Find new ways to share kindness and appreciation. Take the time to pause more often and look around, smile at someone, speak more kindly to a stranger, drive a new route home, eat your food a little slower and love life a little more. Life is so precious, cherish it as often as possible. Start a better way of being in the world and of living your life.

There is only this moment right now to do it. Begin now in your mind, in your thoughts and in your heart to live your life in a way that fills you. Let go of whatever is annoying you and step into something more enjoyable. This moment is precious, embrace it, use it wisely.

AF Daily - Sunday October 30

                    Hello friends,

Wow, you guys are an energetic bunch. Didn't anyone tell you Sunday is suppose to be a day of rest??:H

So far all I've gotten done is Sunday school, church and feed my face. I probably should get busy on the many projects I'd like to get done, but I think I will just do some laundry and clean the bathrooms, then watch a little football with my boys. Hubby must have done the dishes while I was at church. Oddly enough he wasn't drunk when he got home last night and #1 son was home by 11.

Those of you that haven't had the pleasure of raising teenagers are really missing out on a very challenging life. Being a parent is one of the hardest jobs there is. I can totally understand why my parents pretty much let me do whatever I wanted. They already raised 3 kids and they were tired. I have to continue to remind myself that I do have to let go and let them learn things for themselves. But as DG pointed out, they don't have the brain power and in my son's case the ability to foresee what could happen. A lot of it is respect on everyone's part. I didn't go on with my son about the events of Friday night, but I did tell him again that we would not tolerate being lied to. And all of the arguing needs to stop because it is disrespectful. On the positive side, #1 son and hubby worked together all day building corrals and fence and hubby said they actually had a good time. Go figure.

Pap--2 feet of snow--really? UGH!! Glad its melting though!

Go away--I have a morning coffee addiction. I rarely have it during the rest of the day though. I refuse to give it up. Good luck to you.

Kaslo, I haven't put the tree pics on my computer yet, and my work at the cemetery is done for winter. I put that project out of my mind and took care of some other things I needed to do. I will tackle it next spring when I hopefully have some help. I will get those pictures to you though.

Mom3--I told my yoga instructor last week that we need to add heat to our room. I hate the ceiling fans in there, but once we get warmed up its not too bad. I need to try to figure out some yoga moves I can do in my sauna.

I'm feeling really bad for my bil. Since Terry passed away in April, he's had his old lab as his constant companion. He had to put her to sleep last weekend, then his mom passed away Thursday. I hope he doesn't slip into a deep depression. We think he needs a puppy, but probably not until spring.

Hi to Uni, Bear, Treya, Det, chill, greenie, lav, dg, and anyone else I may have missed!

Mein Gott! Has anyone ever seriously grown Canna lilies? I had a few in some pots but the larger the pot the bigger the plants and blooms. I have one very large sawed off wine barrel, and the were quite spectacular but i had to climb up into the barrel with a shovel to get the rhyzomes out and talk about put up a fight!!! The rhyzomes tubers whadyamacallits were size 12 s!!! This was about as close as I'm gonna get to feetsies in a wine barrel! Holy Hanna. More to do, but that's my canna report.

Green-eyed girl I will check that out. Thanks!!!

Hi everyone!! Glad the east coasters are checking in. 2 feet of snow? In OCTOBER??? The end is coming I think! Glad you power is back on P3!

Whew. Long day. Didn't get all I wanted done, but that is how it normally goes. Set a really aggressive plan, then get a lot done! So it worked. One homework assignment out of the way, which I'm very glad of. Progress on organizing the materials collected so far for the debate team meeting Tuesday. Got some walking in and a few errands. Spent time with sponsee today - that was a bit emotionally draining. She is doing so well now. Part of the healing for her is talking about some of the things she went through when she was "out there" using drugs. Very, very emotionally draining discussions. It's all good though. She invited me to go with her to a drug court proceding on Thursday. She will be presenting her case to the judge about moving back home out of the 3/4 house. This is a big step for her. There are pros and cons to it, even in her mind.

I'll tell you what - if she can get clean and sober, so can we. I'm really proud of her for rising above all that shit.

                        One thing is for sure...

Geez...is it afternoon already? Sunday morning is always busy around here. I'm so thankful to be able to knock stuff off the list with a clear head!

I'm afraid to say this around PapMom....and I'm certainly not whining...but we got a dusting of snow last night...maybe a half inch or so. This is good because it looked like we were going to set a record for unseasonably LATE snow here in the great somewhat white north. PM I'm glad you weathered the storm without too much trauma.

I've got a crazy afternoon ahead to finish the art show proposal and my daughter, who is collaborating with me, is not answering her cell phone. She is not the type to ignore...so I figure she either lost her phone...or it is not charged. She lives off the grid so she even has to plan when to charge the cell!

Anyway...I posted some of the pieces that I am planning to put on my demo disc. We're limited to just 5 jpgs. If you have time...check it out...I put the shots on photobucket.

ART pictures by Turnagaintoo - Photobucket

Now..here is the photo I took yesterday at Costco that prompted a doubletake!

And...here is a darn cute puppy shot....you'll forgive me for pandering to the crowd?

                              Sober for the Revolution!

Looks like I am late to the party?

LVT, I have two teenagers. (actually one turned 20 last week ? Jeez! That makes me really really old!). My oldest is like his mother. My youngest ? a clone copy of me. I mean in just about every way ? down to the sarcastic humor and eye rolling. Both of them are a handful to manage and they are totally different. I?m having to loosen up on the oldest ? it?s majorly hard for me to do that. I was looking at some pictures today on my laptop and found some that are about 10-12 years old. He was around 8 then. Not sure if it is the fact that Mrs. IJM is working today or what but I got really sad. Time sucks!

Mrs. IJM bought a really nice rug to go in front of the back door. I put it down this morning and number 1 dog wizzed on it in less than an hour. What the *&#^! I swear it looked like Dogs number 2, 3, and 4 were laughing! A$$holes.

Greenie ? I am almost as loyal to my hair stylist as I am to Mrs. IJM. I wouldn?t let anyone else mess with my hair. It?s hard to find a stylist that I feel comfortable with so when I find one I hang on for dear life.

GAC ? There is no way I can give up my caffeine. Stopping that would be worse than AL. I know that for fact. I start out the day with at least two cups of coffee and drink tea all day long right up to bed time. I run on 100% caffeine. I think I could give up food before the coffee and tea. Also, the dacaf stuff awful. I?d rather suck the sweat out of a redneck?s t-shirt than drink decaf. Just sayin!

P3 ? I gotta ask. Did you build a snowman today?

Kas ? Mr. Kas watched you move a wood pile? I shovel up-side the head it a great motivator. You should try it.

Det ? Hope you are enjoying your new iphone. I got the 4s right when it came out and love it. Siri and I are awesome friends. She was a conversation piece at first and now I talk to her all the time. She schedules my appointments, sends text messages, and makes calls for me. If you haven?t tried it yet, try the location specific reminders. As an example, before I leave for work, I might say something like ?Siri, remind me when I get to work to call XYZ?. Siri knows my work address so when the GPS sees me arrive the reminder pops up. She will also ask me if I would like for her to make the call when she reminds me.

We are having the big cul-de-sac party tomorrow night. I start smoking the BBQ about 10PM tonight. I took tomorrow off so I can babysit the smoker. I bought 10 pounds of Boston butt and seasoned it this morning with Dizzy Pig Dust. As we say down South ? it will be some good eatin!

Oh, one other thing I noted today that I want to share. I pack my medicine pack every two weeks. There is a spot for each day and I put my BP meds, Lexapro, vitamins, and AB in each day. I just realized this morning that I have been off AB for two weeks. When I packed it two weeks ago I noticed that I was out of AB so I called in a refill. But I forgot to pick it up. Pretty cool. So I am wondering if I should start it back or leave things alone. We are right in the middle of the witching hour right now and I know that there is no AB on board and Mrs. IJM?s rum is under the counter. But I have absolutely no craving whatsoever. I gotta think on this one.

Shout out to Uni, Chilli, Doggy, M3, Lav, Treya, Bear, Guitarista, and Turnagain.

Hope you all have a great evening!
