AF daily - Wednesday November 2nd

    Hello abbers!

Bleedin' wi-fi. Just got it at home last week and it went down yesterday, so checking in from work. Not having much luck with computers at the moment. "Killed" my laptop, so we're using GF's and now the wi-fi won't work. GF says she should be able to fix it but she was too tired after work last night to have a look. Funny how I miss having a working computer much more than I would ever miss the TV if that packed up.

AFM - hope the chemo went OK. Let us know how it was.

Lav - your typhoid jabs sounded horrible! Fortunately my arm didn't swell up and is much better today. We're off to Vietnam for two weeks over Christmas. I'm feeling a bit guilty about not being around for my dad during his first Christmas without mum but he won't be on his own, other members of the family will be there. Plus, I wanted to get away and not dwell on mum not being around. So me and GF are going on an organised tour (not used to those!) from north to south along the coast and on Christmas day we'll be snorkelling in the South China Sea! Hopefully there won't be any sharks snorkelling at the same time.

Treya - I bought some L-Glut from Holland & Barratt but I think it works out quite expensive from there if you buy a lot or plan on taking it regularly. I only bought a small bottle when I first stopped drinking and it never seemed to do anything for me so I didn't investigate buying any more from somewhere cheaper. Somebody did once mention a UK website that sold in bulk cheaply but I can't remember who it was. Maybe start a thread?

    Have a peaceful day everyone!

Hi fABbies! Marshy thanks for kicking things off for us today. Wow - I hadn't ever thought about it, but I would not be bothered much at all by loss of TV. However computer/internet is a different matter entirely! Wow - Vietnam sounds like an awesome trip. I'm so glad you have XNGF in your life now! :l

I'm so happy I made myself stick my nose on the grindstone and get my Human Development homework done last night!!! :yougo: I didn't wanna but it felt so good when it was done! So today is research for the debate, some reading, and studying for my final on Saturday. I love it when things are on track! I hope the weather is nice for some walking too.

Hello to all to come! Happy Hump Day!

        Good morning Abbers!

Frosty here this morning but it does wake me up pretty fast

Marshy, the reason I had the typhoid series (in 1971) is because my nursing school just assumed that we were all headed to Vietnam after graduation......really. I was very close to enllisting in the Air Force but allowed my fiance to talk me out of it (didn't realize what a control freak he actually turn out to be) Well I certainly hope you enjoy your trip!!!
I love my computers & my wifi when everything is in perfect working order. I am helpless to fix any of it when something goes wrong!

DG, good girl for getting your homework done! I should bake something for you
You certainly are getting some great education & experience.

Well I'm off to Curves then straight back home to work! This is my busy season & I should not complain. No time for AL or granny naps :H

        Hi Det!!!

Have a great AF day one & all!

          Good Morning FABs and FABettes!

Happy hump day I feel as though things are finally becoming 'normal' again (whatever the hell that is :H). Still lots to do with the barn but the last big outside job is happening today. So, after today, we'll work inside and aren't so dependent on the weather/day light. In turn, that means I can finally get back to work. Phew. I haven't been this broke in years.

Ladies, just reading about your typhoid jabs makes me weak in the knees (not in a good way, either!) I'm the biggest sissy when it comes to needles. I'll even get someone else to give one to the horses - just cannot handle them

However, Marshy, I bet you'll have an awesome trip. I'm sorry that this will be your first Christmas without your mum :l. Same here, and I'm also wondering how my dad will fare with that. Unfortunately, there's no chance of us spending it together, as he is back in Germany now.

Well, I should make an effort to get going here. Or, at least make an effort to fetch another coffee!

          Have a wonderbra Wednesday, everyone!

skimming through. fecking computers is right! feeling tremenendously stressed out and "I remember this is when I would drink in a heartbeat" is front and center. Not that I would, it's just annoying and well.. dangerous. gotta fly.

              Hello friends,

We got our first snow last night. Nothing like they predicted here, it is pretty. But I am still not ready for winter.

I really outdid myself yesterday. I canned some spaghetti sauce and still have tomatoes left! I added some zucchini to this batch--don't tell my family!:H I made some more zucchini chips, and made a fat and sugar filled mock apple dessert. Then I ground and froze the rest. I made bread (in the bread machine) and did about 4 loads of laundry. Plus made supper. I really do enjoy my domestic life--too bad it does not earn me a pay check!

Today I have to be out and about when I'd rather stay home. Dentist for a cleaning is on the agenda. If I hustle with my work in town, I can be home early and get some more projects done before we leave for Missouri in the morning.

DG--if you didn't get a chance, check out the link I posted last night about ADD and Addiction. I thought you might find it interesting. Have you discussed this at school? There is a thread in the meds section where people using Ritalin and has stopped cravings. I would still be concerned about prescribing a stimulant to anyone that may drink though. I also worry about my son possibly abusing it as he gets older, but then I realize it doesn't make him feel "high" and energetic like it would me.

Ok, gotta run! Have a great sober day all! Stay warm!!:h

                Morning abbers!

Marshy - trip sounds amazing. My first Christmas without my mom was hard so I understand your wanting to be away.
Sunny - good luck with the barn!
DG - Good job on the homework, I am behind in mine but plan to dig in today.
I also need a haircut - too bad Greeny is so far away!

Today is my daughters 11th birthday. I cannot believe she is 11 already - time certainly flies. I'm so glad I am sober for her. And for me.

Okay, I'm off, I need to get my ass in gear for the day or I'll end up back in bed for sure!

                Love and hugs,
                Uni

Actually, addiction risk is heightened for people with nearly any mental illness compared to the general population. Your son's risk is dramatically increased because his ADD is being treated. You did him a huge favor (according to my text books and teachers anyway) but getting treatment for him.

You are right that stimulants DON'T make ADD/ADHD people hyper. That's the whole oddity of that treatment and on some level, IMO, that opposite reaction helps confirm that the ADD/ADHD diagnosis was indeed correct. I see that in my sponsee if I am meeting with her either shortly before her next dose it due, or shortly after. (her symptoms are very very noticeable - probably much much more than the average person with ADHD)

And one other thing - how on earth do you get so much done in the kitchen every day? Are you twins and just keeping that a secret???

Lav! I'm so excited! What are you baking me???????

Uni - Wow 11 years old!!! what are you all doing for her birthday celebration?

greenie - I hope your day improves!!!! I'm with Uni and would love to get a hair cut from you!

Sunny - bet it feels good to be on the home stretch with the barn!!! What will you be doing for work when this project is finished?

Det!!! What a pleasant garlicky suprise to see you here so early!

OK - back to the books. My mind is wandering again today!

Yikes, the 'craft week' at Curves is great. Not only are they buying the stuff I took in but they are ordering stuff on the 'Wish List' I left there so.........

I'm starting to feel like I need a personal secretary. I need someone to make a dr's appt for me, someone to sit down & pay the bills that were due yesterday online, someone to do my Christmas shopping, etc. etc.

Quick check-in! All is going well out at the construction site and I'm really not needed there! Yay! Oh.. gonna try to answer some questions. Greenie had asked about ETA for completion.. errrmm.. it was SUPPOSED to be up LAST winter! :H Doors? Hopefully soon. Although the main front doors may have to wait 'til spring. We may just have to tarp it for the winter. Long story. And, finally, with less time having to be spent over there during the day I can finally tend to my business more again. Which is good, because now is (or should be) my busy time (as in where I make my money because the summer is dead).

Lav, that's fantastic that you get to be curvy AND industrious! You go girl! Oh, and if you find a reliable secretary, would you please send her/him over here for a bit, too!?

DG, my son was on ADD meds for a while and like you said, when the meds would wear off - watch out! Holy cow! Way worse than without.

LVT.. I'm with DG. No regular human can do what you do. You're hiding something! :H

Uni.. Happy Birthday to little Uni! 11. Wow. Don't I wish mine were still that young. No, actually, I don't ; I know what comes next :H

                          Greenie.. hang in there!

                          That is all!

AF daily - Wednesday November 2nd

It's still morning here in the great white frozen north which gives me a little comfort in checking in this late!

Last night DH and I went out to eat a a Mongolian BBQ. I remembered why it had been 15 years since we went - too much msg...too much food. We are paying for it today. Healing Halibut is on the menu tonight.

Sunni...can you add a guest suite in the 'barn'? it is just gorgeous - I noticed the windows toward the top - how wonderful to let light in like that - nice looking too!

Kas - thanks for the bulb info...I am buying sulphur this week. I've been scouting the house for a decent winter home for the collection. Finding a cool spot is proving to be tough! We did an energy audit /upgrade last year and really tightened up the place - including the garage. We even insulated crawlspaces as recommended so we are warm and tight. That's good...unless you're a bulb!

Lav - the craft week sounds wonderful! You are inspiring me to get to some sort of exercise class once the knee is good for more action. I'm planning to play hockey for the second half of the season starting in January. We've got such a big team, though, that I probably won't get the work out that I once did....so I'll need to supplement!

DoggyG....FINALS? These accelerated classes are keeping you on your pretty little toes. Get crackin' girlie girl....nose to the study grindstone. Not that I want to distract you....but maybe we can talk Det into being our PALEO coach? Anyone else out there for losing some weight cave-person style?

Det...I hope Siri has not done you in. Give her garlic. It will keep her happy.

Greetings to Uni, Greenie, Marshy and LVT....glad ya'll are getting through the day with grace and humor! Thanks for the love, Mom3!
