    Weekly AA Thread - November 7 - 13

I hope Mary is having a fabulous time!!! When does she return?

How is everyone doing? I am still amazed by how the AA steps have woven their way into my life. Or how I have woven them into my life. However it works. I am a much calmer, more peaceful, more upbeat person than I have ever been in my adult life. And the insides are starting to match the outsides a little more often!

I have had a chance to really contemplate what it means to be living an honest life - working an honest program this week. I 'm glad I'm giving these things a good effort. It's worth it.

If anyone out there has questions about AA, ask away. Or if you want to comment on a topic on this thread - feel free. You do not need to be active in AA to participate.

    G'day DG.

Well, i attended my 6th i think meeting on monday. I've been to this one 4 times. Large ish group, 30/40 folks, and welcoming as usual. I was asked to share, so i did. I was thinking before i went, that if asked i'd pass, but i'm glad i did. I'm more interested in the face to face support, and seeing if there's a little social/coffee etc. group i can socialise with once a week or so, for a bit of spice 'cause it'll mean new friends, but also a bit of AF spice too. I intend to go back to this group. They're a diverse bunch which is natural, but this group is very diverse which i feel more comfortable with. Not interested in the steps at this point, but they make sense, and i'll see what i make of it all as i go.......

Hi G. I think you are on the right track. Just go and "be" and do whatever the spirit moves you to do (or not do). I find it truly good just to simply be among people who totally understand me. Who understand what it's like to be in the grip of AL. I'm glad you have found a diverse group that seems promising - people you can relate to.

Whenever i'm at a meeting, the atmosphere is alway notable to me. I am amongst friends, and like minded people who have shared that hellish road, and i suppose it's the sense of understanding and togetherness that i feel, even without knowing anyone, but of course, we kinda know each other well in many ways. There is also a strong feeling of 'truth' in the rooms for me. It's real and honest, and i find it all uplifting, somehow joyous, and spiritually recharging, even though i'm not necessarily a religeous man. (hope you brought a sandwich) :H

I love the feeling I get in the rooms too G-man. It gets stronger for me all the time as I make more friends and learn how to connect more with people. I isolated either in person or in spirit for so long - that's been a huge project in itself just learning how to really open up with people. It's a lot easier for me over the internet than face to face. But face to face is where real life is taking place - and I gotta get in the game if I want the most out of life. AA has really helped me cross that bridge.

          Hope YOU brought a sandwich!

Hi all! Talked about meditation in yesterdays meeting. It's so interesting to hear about everyone's different take on it. One guy is a practicing Muslim and one guy is a meditation teacher of some sort - he has a "meditation circle" in his back yard, whatever that is. And everything in between. I keep wanting to try the guided meditations Lav has linked many times around here (Chopra) and I need to just make time to do it! People are obviously finding ways to do "whatever it takes" to stay sober. I love hearing about it.

The meeting rooms are a sanctuary to me.
By the way I hit 703 days of sobriety.
