    Nouveau Novembre - Week 3

    Good morning team

Papmom - I'd take your green bean stew over turkey any day!

Lav - inspecting rentals is NOT fun, I have to ring the bell 1st to see if they are home (they get notification letters that we are calling) if no one answers I use our keys and there is that scary moment when you push the door open of not knowing what you're going to find!

Blondie - before I quit the longest AF I'd ever managed in any year was 7 weeks which I'd done for lent so 100 days is pretty awesome in my book! Stick to your plan and rehearse it before you are going out into AL environments. Another visualization for you is to take all of us with you and if you get any cravings imagine us all shaking our heads  sorry maybe that ones a little too scary :H

SD - Good to hear from you and looking forward to that 5 month celebration!

When my alarm went off this morning I was right in the middle of a good dream. I'd gone to Portugal to spend the New Year and I'd met a Portuguese family who were running a restaurant up in the hillside. I had got involved in giving them some business advice and we'd become friends. Just before I was due to go back the Son called me, he was running it with his Mother, and asked me to stay offering that I could move in to his home. I never got to the part where I said if I would or not but I can guess what I would have decided.

I know I'm becoming obsessed with it but as each day passes I feel like such an alien here, I just don't fit in. I'm screaming on the inside. This passion to go back is building into a strength that will somehow get me there, I just know it......

Have a wonderful AF Thursday guys

      Good morning everyone

:welcome: MG and great to hear from you Mr. G. Rusty will be pleased when she gets back.

MG - wishing you a speedy recovery. It must be so frustrating. Maybe replace the activity with something else for the time being, reading, meditation etc. There is a thread somewhere here on MWO listing all the different activities you can do to distract yourself.

Chill - love your stories about the flats. Know exactly what you mean. I do meals on wheels and you encounter everything. If you are meant to get back to Portugal, you will.

SD - Thanks for checking in. So glad your Mom is improving.

Star - The wedding in Vegas sounds interesting.

Lav, Sped, Papmom, Dew and anyone else I missed big hello.

        Good morning to all...

MG72 welcome and healing thoughts sent to you. You will heal so much more quickly AF. I love being active too, but tennis would be too dangerous for me, I don't want to hurt myself. I love walking, yoga, exercise classes including zumba. Finding the time is sometimes hard with my work schedule. Do you like to read? There are so many good books out, I heard a great read about an Italian painter from the 1500's on NPR yesterday. I have to get that book. What are your interests in addition to exercise?

Chill, I have been dreaming too, and remember snippets of my dreams. Kind of disturbing as I only remember parts of the dreams. What is it about where you are now that is such a bad fit besides the weather? I know you wanted to be close to family and have realized that you and your sisters are far apart on things. I think it is hard to feel close to others, having a close friend or friends takes time. I feel close to my husband and have one or two friends, that is it. I do not have time for more with work. I wonder if some of this is the change in your life from having to work fulltime. It certainly changes everything doesn't it? Working fulltime leaves me exhausted most days and then the catchup on weekends. Making time for other things is a struggle.

Pap, you are doing such a great job at all your jobs, and are lucky that you only have to do a green been cassarole. I am having my dinner on Wednesday due to work for my son, and will just eat leftovers on Thursday and.....put up Christmas stuff. We could have gone to a relatives several hours away, but chose to stay home. After our other trip, I am still recovering. (Rusty, I don't know how you do it). Is your PT helping with your injury?

I am sooooo looking forward to time off AT HOME. I just want time to relax and rest up. Has anyone else needed extra sleep since the time change and added darkness? I want to hibernate, I think.

Did anyone read about Congress voting away healthy lunches, due to lobbying from pizza and other junk food companies? Then Newtie boy accepting 1.6 million dollars from Freddie Mac? Our entire system is so corrupt, I am just disgusted. I had to vent, I am outraged.

Great American Smokeout today. That will be easy for me. I am so thankful to be smoke free. OK everyone, have a great day. AF.

          Mornin' Abbers!

PapMom-Yummy! Green bean casserole! I am usually asked to bring that to my sister in law's but for whatever reason I got off the hook this year and was asked to bring desert instead. So I am making pumpkin chocolate cupcakes that look like little turkeys. I got the idea from this link...

          Turkey Cupcake - Oriental Trading

They look easy enough, don't they??? :H I'm also known for my cute deserts so this will be right up my alley

Lav-That is actuallly a damn good price on organic turkeys if they are in fact 100% organic and not just "natural". At our store, certified organics from California go for over 5 bucks a pound and fresh, naturals (hormone free, free range, humanely raised, antibiotic free and all that jazz) go for $3.99 a lb. That's the one I had last year and it was good. This year, I am not cooking a bird but since we have TG at someone else's, I think I will roast a turkey breast the day after since we won't have leftovers. And I love the smell of a roast turkey!

Hope everyone is having a great day so far. I'm off to meet some girlfriends for coffee and must dash but will check back later. Hi to DG, Sunshine, Mr. G, Rust, Stargazer (PS, don't even get me started on how corrupt this country is...and coming from the natural food industry, I am saddened about the healthy lunch situation...very bad decision!), DewDrop, ChillGirl, SD and anyone else checking in today. :l

Hello gang I am back, slightly the worse for wear but pleased that I've finally plucked up the courage!

I've got a plan and plan on sticking to it this time!

I'm going to hang around on the Army Thread for a bit and on Mr G's old drunk thread just to get me started. I'll keep popping in tho.

I'm so glad to be back, and thanks to all who asked after me. Special thanks for the nudge Lav :l

                Hi Guys!!!:waving:

Sooty...welcome back!!!:l I have missed you terribly. Good for you for not giving up....please don't stray from us again....there was a huge hole on this thread without you here.....thanks to Threadmistress Lav for using her magical ways.

Welcome Blondie and Mg! It's great to have new people on our thread....we learn so much from each other. Mg-I hope you recover quickly. You must be terribly frustrated because your active lifestyle has been curtailed a bit.

Blondie....:goodjob: on your 100 days AF!

It's my last night in Barcelona. My PIA client was manageable this time because I set boundaries before we got here....no going to dinner together, etc. Today, I did not work...I took the city tour and we stopped at some fabulous places...Sagrada Familia, Casa Battlo...Fortunately, today was the only day it did not rain. Thanks to all of you for your support...as I was anxiety-ridden before I left. Anxiety is a huge drinking trigger for me....glad I could come here and vent. I've talked to my Mom 3 times since I left and talked to my sister once....can you tell I'm a tad homesick? :H

Pap-great news on working for your brother and quitting the NH.:goodjob:

Chill-you'll get back to Portugal....I have faith in you.

Rustop-you are the third person I have met who does Meals on Wheels...it's a great program...it shows how compassionate you are.

Dew-are you traveling home from somewhere tomorrow night? I am. I hate flying home on Friday nights because it's a zoo at the airport....especially since I'm going through Atlanta.

Lav-taking care of 2 little boys for 9 hours???? I hope your son and DIL know how lucky they are and tell you so.

Well, after percolating until 1:30 a.m. every night I've been here....I'm actually tired now so I think I'll go to bed. See you tomorrow!

                  Hiya everyone!

Safe travel's home Rusty. I appreciated the complimentary tapas in Barcelona when i was a younger fella who'd run out of money whilst travelling. But that's when the fun start's, because i had to get creative.

Thanks for your kind words P3. Best wishes with your new job, if you've taken it.

And thanks for the encouragement and positive vibes everyone. This thread is made up of very special people, and one of MWO's stand outs.

Chilli, can't wait for you to return to Portugal so i can come and visit!

Look forward to seeing more of you around Sooty. You sound positive.

Keep it going MG and Blondie!

Great to see everyone. Good luck with the diapers Lav. They are in good hands! :H

p.s. Is PA Guy still around?

                  Best wishes everyone. :h

Hi all! I think I am getting confused between this thread and the daily AF thread...lol. But I see some of the same faces and that's wonderful! Glad to be getting to know everyone a bit better day by day as we join each other in the AF world.

Lav-I hope your turkey cupcakes come out good...I bought the candy corn today...got them at a steep discount with all the Halloween stuff on clearance. I'll have fun making them next week for sure.

Hi to everyone...I'm off to bed now as I have some reading to do, but I wish everyone a happy and healthy evening!

Don't worry about it Blondie - I'm always a bit confused especially when it comes to the date of the AF Daily thread :H
I bought candy corn at Halloween but didn't let anyone eat it - must have been subconsciously saving it for something special

It's 10 pm & I'm still trying to wind down after a super busy day! Does anyone want to guess how many diapers I changed today? :H :H

sooty, so glad you are back! When you are ready to step back into the bus driver's seat just let us know. I think we've been on auto pilot - well, at least we're still here

Music biz good. Hoping to have new album out early next year, and that is coming along nicely in it's own humble way. I can't wait to travel again, and get to the US. No immediate plans to travel, however, within the next couple of years it is sure to happen. I'll drop in to see you for sure, that would be a blast.

Good morning Nouvellians it's Friday.... We made it! :yay:

SOOTY! Soooo glad you came back to us :l we could definitely do with a driver around here, we have been drifting a bit and I'm looking for the long route back to Portugal if your game. Oh and via Oz so I can pick up Mr G on the way

Blondie - I hope you keep checking in on all the threads, it's great to have you here.

Rusty - safe travels home, sorry about the rain, usually in Spain it falls mainly on the plain :H

Lav - I'm really hoping not 20 but not sure if I want to know :yukko:

Star - the only think I like about being here is being able to see my parents.

I don't like anything else about the lifestyle. It's so so different from what I'm used to and even if I was working FT in Portugal, I'd still get to spend time doing what I love most and that's getting out in the beautiful nature there. I miss all my country walks, my cycle group each weekend. All my friends and our coffees at the beach. I also miss the mentality, the people i meet here are very insular in their thinking, it's a small town and it's all they know. I had so many diverse friends over there, French, Dutch, Polish, German and American who had a great outlook on life because of their experiences. I feel like I'm suffocating here and I remember why I left in the 1st place. I'm not unhappy, that is an inside job for sure, I'd just rather be happy someplace else. I will bide my time and slowly work at ideas as to what I could do over there.

Off out to walk Elle in the dark rain, have an awesome AF Friday folks.....

                              Good morning everyone

:welcome: back Sooty, soooooo glad to see you again. We missed you so please drop in often and let us know how you are doing.

Blond - I stick mainly to this thread as there is such a nice atmosphere, no bitching like happens on some of the other threads. It is very diverse too. You will get all the info you want about Scotland from Chill and I'm from Ireland. It is just a good mix.

Chill - I know exactly what you mean about some people being insular. I find that here too. I think its not having travelled. We also had a new breed here during the celtic tiger years, yummmy, dummy mummies, ugggh. At this stage I just concentrate on the positives. Family, nice friends and just leave the others. I was saying to my friend that by the time I am 60 I will probably be nearly a hermit!!

Star - It is the same in every country. It is an absolute disgrace what went on here during the celtic tiger years with property developers, banks etc.

Rusty - Safe travels. My hubby is just back from Malaga and was exhausted. They eat so late, he did not finish the meal until 1 a.m. and then they went on for some drinks. He is not used to such late nights. Its usually Sweden he travels to and the culture is very different.

Getting my hair done this morning and then doing some Christmas shopping.

Lav, Dew, Papmom, Mr G. MG, Jolie, Cassia and anyone else I missed, big hello and have a great week-end.
