happy thanksgiving everyone - chill out,eat too much and enjoy being sober.
Just off to work in a bit -yesterday went really well and after work i cycled into town to meet 2 team mates for dinner - really lovely - then came home and fell asleep on sofa about 9.30pm.
Still not got round to my bubble bath yet - need a pedicure (home done - economy!) and a face mask too.

I am off to zumba tonight with other team mate then gym with other team mate Monday - company may be the key for me!these girls are proper hard core exercisers too so aspirational.

Must rush - shower and then cycling to work.
love my af life and chromium ROCKS!

      Gratitude

      Hello All

Off to a 2 hour yoga practice (funds will be donated to a homeless shelter) then home to get TG meal prepared.

Today is not about the food for me though. Heck, I don't even like turkey that much. But, I love the family time and the opportunity to reflect on all I am thankful for.

This will be my fourth Thanksgiving alcohol free. I still vividly recall the last Thanksgiving when I was still drinking. My mother-in-law was here as a guest. Well, of course, I used the holiday as an opportunity to start drinking earlier than usual. I spent most of my time in the kitchen drinking and drinking while cooking. By the time the meal was ready and we sat down, I could not put a sentence together and I fell asleep at the table (and almost face first into my mashed potatoes). How sad is that to have your husband, 3 children, and their grandmother witnesss such a thing? I had to get up from the table and go to bed.

I am so grateful to be free from the chains of alcohol and for freeing myself (through hard work and action) of the depression, resentment, anxiety that was consuming my life. This mental state caused me to drink more and of course, the alcohol made my mental state worse. It was necessary for me to put the past behind me and to not let it define me anymore.

I am so very grateful for my life, my family and friends, my health and high energy, and for the MWO community.

Bear, I am so proud of you - you sound so great!

To all of my American friends - have a fabulous Thanksgiving. Don't forget to give thanks for your sobriety and all your friends here.

Today I go see my "regular" psychologist. She is quite pissed to say the least about what happened and is going to fight like crazy to get the information from the bitch psychiatrist not entered into my insurance record. I also found some reviews on line from the psychiatrist they made me go see - they are all brutal and all similar to my experience. We have printed them. As well the hospital sent over my record of going there after seeing her to my regular psychologist so we should have some ammo to fight this ridiculousness.

My daughter is home sick today so it's going to be a bit of a crazy day with buses etc. to get to my appointments but it'll be worth it in the end. Then we can come home and lie down and just veg out.

Oh yeah, I have to do my football picks! I guess I better get on that asap~ LOL

        Love you guys,
        Uni

Good morning bear, DG & everyone

My turkey is still in defrost stage since I'm not cooking until Saturday. I am actually grateful to be postponing dinner until Saturday because as of yesterday 2 of the 3 grandkids are sick
Everyone should be back in good shape by Saturday

I am going to use today to get caught up in my shop & get outside for a bit since it has finally stopped raining :yay:

Wishing everyone a wonderful AF day!

Good morning everyone and thanks Bear for starting. Hi to Dg, Uni and all others. M3, your description could have been me. Was me. Your family must be super proud of you now.

I had to pay a truly horrendous tax bill yesterday. Just took the profit out of my little company for the year. In the past I would have consumed a ton of wine, as the decision was an unfair penalty, but I managed to not do that. Been sober since last February. I am especially glad this morning that I am not lying here witH the whole next two days to recover!

One thing is for sure. Happy American thanksgiving

                  Happy Thanksgiving to all abbers!!!

Universal, I am totally giving thanks to you all here and grateful for my sobriety today. 23 days in a row since the start of my sobriety on Nov 2nd. 106 days put together since the start of my membership on MWO in Jan 11.

I made a list of what I was grateful for in my life and posted it on Facebook this morning. I didn't put on there my "sobriety" as not many folks know about my drinking problem and it's not the thing I would post on there for all to see. So it's nice to mention it here because on the top of my list of thanks is the fact that I can enjoy TG sober and feel strong that I will not cave in today. The place where we are headed will have lots of bottles of wine open for sure but I am armed with my fizzy water and have 2 chilling right now so they will be nice and cold when we get there! I'm sure my family will be suprised that I am not drinking but they'd better get used to it

Happy birthday to PapMom!!! I hope you are having a glorious birthday so far my dear. I am waking up to a bright and beautiful (albeit cold) day here on Boston's northshore. Hope you are seeing the same sunshine over in NH.

Momof3, wow, already 2 hours of yoga??? You are an inspiration? Right now, I'm just on to 2 cups of coffee...lol. I can relate to your reminiscing about drinking while preparing TG dinner and being too drunk to enjoy the actual meal. Yup, been there, done that. I remember one year I set the gravy on fire...don't ask...it involved both me and my drunken mother trying to do pan gravy. The whole kitchen got full of smoke...it was so embarrassing. And normally, I am a great cook! I think it turned out alright in the end but what a drunken fiasco. This year, I am not hosting, we are going 2 towns over to my husband's brothers house. They are great peeps and don't drink too much but the rest of the family does. Me and my hubs young nephews of the late teen age will be the only ones not drinking. Actually, I think they let the oldest nephew have a glass of wine with dinner. See how it all starts???

Anyway, congrats Momof3 on your 4th TG sober, well done. You are an inspiration!

Lav-hope you have a nice day today...I know you are celebrating TG a bit belated. Hope everyone is over their colds by then. Tis the season. Enjoy your day today and thank you for being the anchor I so often need...I am grateful for that.

Bear! Thanks for starting this day off right! I, too, am a bubble bath and facial mask affectionato! And home done pedicures too! I will be coloring my hair this morning after I make my cupcakes. Time to touch up the roots. If I have time, I will do a facial mask too...I want to look extra radiant today for the family who hasn't seen me in a while. Not drinking and taking better care of my skin, plus eating healther has left me glowing, literally. A co-working mentioned earlier this week that my complexion had a nice glow to it. That could mean one of 2 things...the Dr. Hauschka skin care line (we sell at the store I work at) is doing it's magic (very expensive stuff so I sure as hell hope so!) or my sober ways are paying off on my face. I think it's actually a combination of both, as I feel years younger and hope to look it too, by not drinking like a fish every night. Her comment made me feel really good...it's nice that someone noticed .

Well, another rambling post by me...Hope you're all used to it by now. Hi to those yet to check in...hope you all have a lovely holiday and to those around the world not celebrating TG, I am thankful for you today too!

Cheers to all on this special holiday! (lifting her glass of sparkling water)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING MY US FABBERS!! and a very happy Thursday to everyone else!

M3-that was an absolutely gorgeous post!!

Bear-you go girl!! I might have to look into this Chromium thing-any bad sideeffects or overdose concerns?

DG-wow! Way to rock on the assignments! Enjoy your day at your Aunts knowing you can truly relax!!

Det-good for you on all fronts! (and backs and sides.......)

Blonde-I am in Central MA my friend-boring central MA. It is gorgeous but cold here today too-I think you might have more wind chill than us tho.

Lav-so sorry the kids are sick. It will be fun to have turkey day on Saturday tho.

Kas-oh brother-so sorry about the tax thing. BUT, you would have had to pay it even if you drank over it so dealing with the pain sober is a much better way to go. You'll probably just let the aggravation go out into the cosmos much much quicker!!

I too will watch my dad go through at least one small bottle of red today, my sis drink most of the large bottle of PG herself (I used to help but it was 2 bottles!!), my nephews, 19 and 18 have some beer and wine (please lord don't let them drive tonite!!) and my bro and his wife will take it very easy as they have the 1.5 hour drive home and my SIL has some sort of digestive ailment (undefined) that limits her AL consumption. She was never a big drinker. I must say that I was probably the catalyst for ALL arguments that started on the holidays. Now that I don't have to be right all the time, they are fairly peaceful. Can't wait!!

I did get the new laptop set up last nite-for some reason most of my programs did NOT get backed up i.e. MS Office 2010, Quicken etc. The files got backed up but not the application. I was up until 1:30 trying to find my activation key for office (luckily where I purchased it from last year included an extended reinstall option for 2 years-whew!!!) and reinstalling the whole program. Finished this morning. Still need to find my Quicken activation key that hopefully is in a gmail email somewhere. Might just purchase the new addition since mine was 2 years old anyway. More $$$. Sigh. Happy Birthday to me :H

Thinking seriously of taking one of the dogs for a walk at some point. Just not sure who!!

I'll probably check in tonite as it won't be a late nite.

                    Good eats all!!

Pap I just love what you said about letting the aggrevation go out to the cosmos! That is exactly what we should all do. I expect rather a lot would accumulate there. Lav forgot to say hi. Blonde love your long posts. Don't stop now!

Oh........... A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF MY AMERICAN FRIENDS!!!

I do not miss drinking at all, especially on the holidays. So many, many, bad memories!

Gotta run. Still feeling pretty good. Can't sleep again, but I think it is time for my Oncologist to give me something for that. Was up before 3am and my eyes are burning slots of fire. So I am going to have a nap once I take the little one to school.

                        HONK SHEW!

                        Have a fabulous day everyone!!

                          Hello friends,

I just wanted to check in and make sure you know you are all on my gratitude list!:h:l

I am grateful for so many things, including my sobriety and ciggiebriety.

Many Thanksgivings I don't remember very well for some reason......

I do remember last year quite well, and it was not a great memory. I remember watching hubby's family drink and drink and tell the same stories over and over. I grew bored with it so I went in the other room to read my book. My sons gave me a hard time about some stuff and I got my feelings hurt. The good memory though, is that hubby did not drink too much and took me out for coffee and a little shopping and alone time.

We aren't eating until this evening, so we're not going until later. I'm going to try harder to mend the distance between this sister in law and myself. We used to do a lot of drinking and talking, then they moved and I quit drinking, and that pretty much ended the relationship. We still get along, but we're not close like we were. We share a common bond today as the friend who is dying, is one of their best friends--they went to school together and he was their best man in their wedding, so this is especially hard on them.

Anyway, I am looking forward to the meal. I love a traditional TG dinner. I came across a recipe for "Angeled eggs". I'm not too sure about it--tons of butter and onion. We'll see, could be a waste of a dozen eggs.:H

Bear, I meant to mention yesterday how much better you are sounding!

Hello and Thank you to all my sober comrades.:h
