    Dazzling and Diligent December

    Good morning Dazzling friends!

We have the sun here, at least for now

LBH, I spent years doing what you are doing now. When I found MWO & read about the importance of being honest with yourself & the idiocy of repeating the same patterns & getting the same results - well I knew it was high time for me to quit for good! I shoved that option of having just 'one' right off the table because I honestly knew (for me) that was just BS, pure fantasy We will be here day in & day out for you!

Chill, I have taken a Glucosamine/MSM supplement for > 10 years. I know it works because if I run out I become crippled within a few days!!!! Glucosamine was originally intended for use in dogs (my Maxie takes it everyday too). During certain weather conditions I also take an OTC antinflammatory & I feel pretty good

Sooty, I need to do some more online shopping but I flat out refuse to mingle with the crowds in stores. Enjoy your day tomorrow!

    star, about food.......
I have an ever growing list of foods my body just no longer tolerates including all dairy, beef, pork, & yes Chinese food Makes eating out extremely difficult to say the least. My whole system goes out of whack for days if I consume something on the 'Not good for me list'.

I have lots to do today & I think a pot of soup is in order!!!!
Wishing everyone a great AF Sunday!

    Lav
    AF since 03/26/09
    NF since 05/19/09
Success comes one day at a time

hey all - thought i would pop in here too - got time and feel like pottering about on here today - have time and loving new netbook on knee on sofa.

i need to eat more veggies so identify with clean eating too much sugar processed carbs this weekend - may make big veggie stir fry tonight or possibly a thai veg curry, poke about in fridge due later.

I feel really enthusiastic about sorting house out and de-cluttering - ready to throw out lots of books apart from absolute favourites as will have my kindle soon. we are gonna have a big car boot sale soon for team so stock piling books and clothes/ornaments for that. i have had some books for 20+ years - i will keep a few special ones but too much stuff! Tempted to call in sick tomorrow and get started on that - am bit ill and need a duvet day. We'll see how it goes.
whatever - i am so happy to be alcohol free and feeling positive - thinking of what i can do with my time that is positive and productive rather than just get trashed.i need to remember this feeling as christmas and new year have been difficult/has been difficult so far.

            Hi Y'all!

Congratulations Bear and Blonde AF for your 30 days AF! That is a huge accomplishment. Well done, and here's to the next 30 and beyond.

Great to see everybody, and especially nice to see you here again Ladybirdheart.

Wishing all a safe, sober, and magical week.

              Happy Happy DD Days!

I am SO happy to be re-greeting you, LBH, and Mario and Mr G, and all new people, what a great day to get back on the thread. Sorry to be away for a few days, it was quite hectic with my Mom visiting; got her to the airport on Thus, then got us ready to fly to MN on Friday. I am at the moment sitting in the lobby of an historic hotel, with shimmering chandeliers aglow in the grey morning light, a decorated mantel and fire in the fireplace. I love it when other people do the decorating!!

Here is a quick note, I will elaborate later on what I've been up to... I went to college in this city where I am now visiting, I started my first career, had 20 years of a first marriage, formed my enduring life-long friendships, left under somewhat trying circumstances, and have not been back for 10 years. What a challenge to return - yesterday I drove to all my old haunts, tears streaming, saw my old house (which my ex now has up for sale), visited my ex's mother, and just generally tried to find my way back into an inner landscape which I have had to put carefully away in a box somewhere. Frightening, but also heartening. What I must say is how often I thought of some painful drinking incident in all the places that I went - this was a good reminder for me of the value of AF-ness, just as I am closing in on finishing up year #1. I agree LBH, the holidays are a real trigger for me...so the bad memories have some good in their linings...

Dew, great news, thanks for the report. Blonde, well done, I look forward to hearing more about your journey. Sooty, thank goodness the bus driver is back. Congrats all, and I will be here every day now - I need to hear your voices... more soon....hope everyone has a nutritive day --

PS - just came across a blog which was recommended, craftyfarmgirl.net. If you read all the way down to the bottom on the 'about me' page, she has a great line about sobriety...hmmmm, how interesting that I would have found this site...
                Cheers!

                  Hey everyone,
It's Shelley weather in NM, cloudy and a bit cold, but no wind. I felt enveloped/muffled this morning when I ran. Maybe snow tonight. Can't believe how happy this kind of weather makes me.

Chill, sorry you are having pain issues. Like you, I am very dependent on exercise for my peace of mind. I say continue with the glucosamine. You can always come visit the great American Southwest. I think our climate may be similar to Portugal's.

Cyn, walking down memory lane, whethere it's visiting a place I used to live or just reading old journals and letters is an iffy undertaking for me. Sometimes it's wonderful, enjoyable and other times it can be a trigger for all kinds of weirdness.

LBH, loved your post, the list of creatures you wouldn't give a drink to.

Okay, everyone's rah rah attitude about cleaning is not inspiring me but making me feel bad enough about my environs to get off my couch and do something about it.

Everyone have a good Sunday afternoon.

Hi Sped - snow flurries here today. It's that sleety snow with icy winds with warnings tomorrow of icy roads. Burrrggh.

Thanks for the thumbs up on the glucosamine and Lav it's great to hear your success with it. I will keep taking it and continue as always to improve my diet too.

Cyn - I find these days I'm just so damn sentimental. Is it my age? my sobriety? something in our global awareness? Memory lane is a very painful place. I think I'd almost prefer to only go to new places in my life instead of feeling like a ghost of a life past. :l

I checked out "craftyfarmgirl" what with her hens and her camper she made me think of several guys on this thread
here is what she said on sobriety:-
I was always socially awkward and someone once said “She’s happier in the company of animals than people”. That’s probably still true. I’ve been sober and in recovery long enough to not care who knows. But recovery is a daily reprieve that changes a person and the way you look at life and can still be struggling at times..

To me my reprieve equates to gratitude and I am grateful every day I wake up AF.

Love our new Bear - Blondie partnership! We have SD and Sped too, lots of twinning going on.

Mr G - a pleasure as always to see your magical wishes and sending them right back at you :h

I have been absorbing myself this weekend in the teachings of living in the now and meditating on it too. It's really helped me shift my anxiety away from whatever may happen in the future. I remind myself that right now this minute, I have everything I need. I have a great new app on my iPad with personal affirmations and have been repeating them morning and night.
"In the depths of winter I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer ."

                      Hi Cyn,

Just wanted to say this is a great post. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Your weekend meditations/affirmations on the now/present, sound fantastic Chilli. I like what you said re we have everything we need. I know i do, when i strip away the bulldust. I mean, i have groupies. What more could a musician want? Keep warm there!

                      Best wishes everyone. :h

OH CRAP!! I had the best longest post evah!! Went to another tab in i.e. to grap my post from daily, thought I clicked on the tab I was working on and poof!! I must have clicked the X instead!! Crap!

So, please know I read everything thing from today-loved all the conversations but I just can't redo the post (zzzzzz)

Now I know you are all wondering: How was the Dog Whisperer?????

OMG!!!! He was freaking awesome!! Hysterical, educating, charming, down to earth, engaged with the audience... I could go on and on. I was not expecting the show he gave us. I felt like I was in a huge lecture hall with the best professor on campus. This guy knows how to get his ideas across for sure. A lot of people don't agree with him but one of the problems is that what you see on the shows is just a miniscule part of the whole dog psychology thing. He went into it with so much more detail last nite that I get it now!! I think DD and I are going to enter into a new relationship pretty soon. And the other two are being dragged along!!
I highly recommend this tour so if it comes your way, spend the money. You won't be sorry!! Oh, and Junior (his dog from his beloved Daddy -the first dog he showcased on the show-an ex fight dog) got the standing O!!:H Junior was on stage the whole show and provided not only cuteness but a lot of laughter and teachable moments.

that's the news from sunny and mild Central Ma!! Will see you all tomorrow!

It seemed a bit early to be starting week 2, will we leave it till next week?

It's v cold & dark here and I just want to stay in bed and sleep some more :upset:

Papmom - Caesar sounds amazing! I know friends who have had good results from reading his books.
Would have loved to see him and Junior.

Hope you are soon feeling better Bear. We too have snow on high ground and it is bitterly cold. Know I should spend the day cleaning but getting fed up of it. Going to treat myself to a trip to the cinema instead. Want to see The Help and nobody is interested in going with me so am going to give the cleaning a miss and sit and watch it this afternoon.

Have a wonderful AF week everyone.

Hi December Dazzling Diligent Diva's and Dudes!

I had to go back to page 3 of this thread to catch up with everyone. As usual, work wiped me out over the weekend and although I was thinking of you all, I didn't get a chance to come on and post since early Sat. morning right before my work weekend started. So, I'm back and bracing Monday with you all!

Bear, Hi Partner! Congrats on starting your second month! Sounds like you are really making progress on the house decluttering and cleaning. Must feel great! I will be doing lots of that this week on my 2 days off...just gotta get through today and tomorrow at work and I'll be golden!

Cyn-your post of revisting your old college town was very heartwarming. Congrats on your year of sobriety. Revisiting an old drinking grounds when you've cleared it out of your system must be surreal. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

I'm with Papmom on the mild weather we are having in Mass! No snow yet and there are still nicotania (sp?) blooming in my pots from last summer! And I saw roses in bloom in town the other day. So weird. Kind of wishing for snow now just to get more into the holiday spirit. I think it was Bear who said that her favorite month is December and the more I think about it, it is one of my favorites too. With all the cozy holiday spirit around, it's hard not too. And Christmas decorations are really so beautiful. Oh, I wanted to share some pics of a wreath I decorated myself...it's a huge real balsam wreath I got plain and hot glued seashells and ribbon on it. Hung it over our bed so the bedroom would smell like "Christmas". Since we live on the coast, my decorating theme is "deck the halls with shells and holly"...lol. Anyone else got any decorating pics? I'd love to see 'em! Hi to everyone checking in and hope you all have a super Monday!
