Glad you're back amongst us D-Grrrrl and way to rock those finals! I appreciate you sharing what you are learning.

P-mom you are a marvel....that's all I can say. Okay...I'll add: I am in awe!

Marshy....we will miss you. Safe travels. xxxx

now...I apologize in advance for adding to all this talk of.....sh sh sh sh sh SHUGAR!!!!!

TWICE this week I had to skip lunch and ended up with a few random drinking thoughts...(low blood sugar. BAD!)

And, today when I was running on empty and the AWFUL thought came into the head that a beer would taste really good....I did something I hate doing: I pulled into Walmart and bought a bag of beef jerky. I figured it was better than driving through McDonalds and then to the liquor store.

Sugar has always been an issue with me, too. I've included a link to a great article about the link between hypoglycemia and AL. Maybe at the core we are sugar addicts who happened to use the super jet fuel sugar - alcohol?

Identifying & correcting the biochemical disruption of hypoglycemia and alcoholism

I've been off the l-glut for a bit...but think I will take some tonight. This is one of those days when the conditions would've prompted me to pull off a big drunk....home alone.....husband out late tonight...Friday night.

Nope...not going give up this quit! No way. I got home....got some water....got on the computer....came here...and feel better already.

Going to wrap some presents....get the Florida pile into a Priority Mail box and then WALK to the post office.

I'll be looking for some chat action tonight!

I LOVE being AF. I am going to protect it with all I have!
      Sober for the Revolution!

        Hello Fabbidoobles!

Phew.. what a day. What a week, even. However, I got a big project finished (doubt the money will come in before Christmas, but oh well) AND I finally started decorating tonight. Only the banister on the upstairs landing but hey, it's a start.

Hopefully I'll have time to read back over the weekend, I've seriously been totally buried in work. I'm sorry I haven't been around much!

One thing was for sure today (seeing that this day is just about in the bag) :hallo:
Okay, WHO put a stop payment on my reality check?

          Hi Det!

Sunni - that is a gorgeous bannister!

Turnagain, I am convinced that for me AL and sugar are connected as well.

I have spent a lot of time angsting and wondering and guessing about my blood glucose levels, especially since my Dad has diabetes. Finally, someone handed me a "duh" moment. Get a glucose meter and test it! Thank you Dr. Bernstein for taking and activist stance (if I understand that bit of history correctly) helping such an easy medical test be available to everyone without having to go to a lab!

Anyway...my fears about blood sugar have been relieved. If you sense you are having blood sugar "crashes" or whatever - get a meter and check it out. A lot of people do what I did - and try to respond to guesses about it. There really is no reason to do that.

I accidently posted something in another thread that was intended for this thread. You are going to laugh when you read it, and think about it being posted in the wrong thread LOL!

Mr. Doggy got a lead today for one of the local "gentlemen's" clubs. This will be his second one as a customer if they buy. Mr. Doggy will have a real corner on that market. :H He left me a message "I made my appointment for before the girls start work." :H

That was my laugh for the day!

Well, I'm off to the showers. The AF life is the good life.

I did see that DG and couldn't wait to get on here to find out what it is all about :H :H

Sunni-GORGEOUS bannister!! Come to my house and work your magic please? How DID you manage to get that up with all you've been doing this week?????

G-you are too funny and I lurve you!!

Turn-I am totally convinced sugar is at the root of most if not all AL problems. I notice that friends and family of mine that drink normally do not overindulge in sugar as well. I remember well eating 2 bowls of sugary cereal with milk every day for breakfast with toast and jelly growing up. Also eating a whole pan of just baked brownies or bags of cookies and chips. I managed to keep my weigh normal for most of my life until I got in my late 20's and became much less active. As soon as I was legal I dove into the AL and never looked back.
I do have a blood glucose meter as I was convinced either a) I was hypoglycemic or b) I had diabetes last year. Neither was true.

Hopping on over to today's thread.
