Kas, we don't really know what caused it (he's the 4th on the island in the same predicament).. the vet thinks it must have something to do with the crazy up and down temperatures. All in all, it doesn't seem to bother him much at all.

Ok, back to work. I should get some cleaning done, too before the lil whirl wind gets here tomorrow.
Sunnibutt, this is ringing a big bell in my head. Does the word smegma do this as well for you? Have you checked for this? Dont know maybe you have and dont wanna gross those of us non rancher types out. Here is a website...

Kas-was that F**king North or Frozen North a few posts back? :H
Oh and EWWWW on the website thing!!!

Oh TDN-I sure don't envy you if Romdick wins!! I still shudder thinking about when he was our Governor!! Good luck on the job app-will you be able to walk or take public transport if you get it?

Sunni-I never tire seeing pics of the Peanut-he's just soooo cute. Actually I haven't seen an uncute kid on this thread yet!!

Sid-you get to retire in March??? Oh I am absolutely GREEN!!!

Bear-get thee out of your head and do something productive and positive. You know feeling this way is a trigger for you sometimes as it snowballs!! You knee will heal with the right care and treatment. Its all very temporary.

Det-way to go bud!! You are doing so well! Hmmm, porn convention. Is that even legal????

Hi MWOlady!! Great job on mini goal number 1!! Keep up the good work!!

Another day done. Not as frenetic as yesterday but I will need to work through the weekend unfortunately and miss my breed clubs playday. I feel bad but considering we'll be getting a foot of snow during the event I'm not all that upset.

I've half kidding with my dad about us moving to NC and into a life care facility together (not sure its even half kidding!!). Apparently some facilities let people under 62 move in if they move in with an appropriate aged resident. I know Cinders said it was freezing in bama but really, how long could that last???
I'm watching Chronicle at the moment and they are on location in St John. Sigh.

I know absolutely nothing about horses & now I'm wondering why they are not circumcised when they are baby horses. The warm soaks should help ~ BLESS YOU!!!!!!!

I hope everyone is having a warm & cozy evening. The fireplace is nice tonight

Thanks Kaslo.. yes, I do know about all of that but I have to admit that I have consequently stayed away from 'there' until now. And, like I said earlier.. no matter how warm the water is, right now (in -22C) it cannot be a comfortable thing for him. So, for now, it's meds and the heating pad. They should be in the barn within a week or so; I'll attempt bathing in warm water (and groping for debris) then

See, how educational this thread is? :H

Ahh. Well it just reminded me of this condition I have seen with stallions, but more with geldings, over the years. I dont keep horses any more ( I used to), but I work on them occassionally now, as they are sensitive to metals, so I have had a few cases. Also come from a long line of ranching family...

I think you are doing the right thing, and I dont envy you the process, if only that they get sore and can be very testy, A good rationale for mares, although I actually would rather have a gelding, A nice Morgan X Tennesse walker gelding about 13 hands high would be nice. About 6 years old. A Bay. Or a Canadian. I wouldnt be surprized at all if this is it. Its very common.
