    Free and Fit February

    Good morning everyone

Just a quick check in from me. It has been a busy morning so far. I got up early to let the horse out and then walked the dog for an hour. Going to make coffee and have a read of the papers after this before I start again.

Van the Man was amazing. Rusty - the O2 is a large arena in Dublin, cannot remember how many it holds but is great for concerts. He had his daughter as the start up act and she also sang with him. He sounded as good as he did 20/30 years ago and sang all the old favourites. He was on stage non stop for 2 hours, no breaks and no chit chat.

Papmom - love the runner and also what you did with the wax paper. Needs must and all that.

Dill/Star - as you know I too am catholic and like you Dill I take the best and leave the rest.

Rusty - good luck with the study, hope it goes well.

Chill - Glad that you have options to consider and hope that you get it all sorted out in your head soon.

Everyone else big hello and have a great Sunday.

      Good Morning all -

After writing my post yesterday morning about Time Off, I tried to do some tasks...and found that my brain was on strike. So instead I had a nice long walk with the dogs, made a morning fire in the fireplace, hand wrote a letter, and finally regained left-brain consciousness. Whew! I then worked on things until late last night, but am making progress. (I'm home-cooking for the dogs now to help with my male; that takes a ton of time.)

P3 - lovely work! I have never encountered a crafter that finishes as many projects as you...
      Rusty - how's the neck?
      Dew - are you ok?
Chill - sounds like things are moving forward, good for you.

Must go and get all ready for me to to be gone for a few days now - I'll try to check in, but it may be iffy. I'm driving 3 hours today to meet up with HB, and we'll travel together, so that will be some comfort. Thanks everyone for the good wishes.

Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday and a good start to the week.

        Happy Sunday to you all

Cyn - My brain is always sharpest in the morning and declines as the day goes on. I rarely stay late at work as I swear im on half power by then and do no service to anyone. To stop and go for a walk is the ideal thing to do. Yesterday I battled with a long application form and still had the covering letter to do. I left it aside and did it at 8am this morning with a clear and recharged mind. Not to mention an AF one! Aren't sober Sundays just awesome! Have a safe trip.

I did my double spin class today and burnt 1000 calories (will help with the OD on chocolate last night ) I had missed it being away last weekend and it was truly wonderful. Heading out in the freezing cold now for a walk although it may not be a long one, half the UK is covered in snow.

Wishing you all a great Sunday :l

          Good morning Fit Ones!

Good Morning. Congratulations on your weight loss Lav, you are going to be even more of ?da bomb? before long. I am very curious about your lengthy application, Chill. Whatever it is, your intentions have always been so very intriguing. Good morning, Cyn, I hope your Sunday is peaceful. Dew? Sped? So glad you enjoyed Van, Rustop, I remember the first time I heard his first record, I could not believe it, those pipes of his like a tenor saxophone, I was in love. Hello to all at church this day. Lord Bird heart manages to retain a deep love of his Catholic faith while being a politically far left liberal Democrat, I don?t know how his head fails to explode:H. Love to all, Ladybird.

Hello Fab Fit Free Ones, late check in for me. I hit the ground running today and am just now getting time to sit down.

Rusty, did your painter finish up? What were you having done? I am a horrible painter but HB is pretty good at it, so he generally does the painting around here for us. He used to paint for a summer job when he was in college.

Papmom, thanks for explaining about the wax paper. Now it all makes complete sense! I have had a problem in summer's past with a cardinal that comes and continually flies into my kitchen window. I wonder if the wax paper would help with that.

Chill, I am glad to hear you sounding so upbeat and enthusiastic. Keep it going, girl! I don't have any angels in my life currently like your Maggie. She sounds very special.

Cyn, drive safely and do check in if you can. I'll be thinking of you in your time of grief.:h

Lav, we had the Sisters of Charity where I went to school. They were a special breed, to be sure! I don't think nuns are as scary theses days as they were back then. Hey, congrats on the 2 lbs! Well done!

LBH, how lovely to see your delicate yellow rose twice within 24 hours. You know, I know a lot of Catholics that are liberal Dems. LordBH has lots of company.

It's been a gorgeous sunny day here and although it is in the mid-forties, it feels "nice" oustide. I think it's because there is no wind. Mr. Dill and I took a long walk in the woods and sat for a time near a babbling brook, listening to the sounds of nature. There was a large patch of watercress in the stream so we picked some and munched on the tender leaves. Our old dogs came with us as they cannot resist a walk in the woods. They used to dash about chasing squirrels and following whatever scent interested them. Now they are staid and keep close to our heels, but they are never more content than when out in the woods.
              Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

                Good Sunday Evening AF Friends,

Cyn-I am so sorry for your loss. :l We will all be thinking of you so please drive carefully. You are so sweet to ask about my neck. I have PT twice per week for 3 more weeks but the Physical Therapist is not very hopeful that there will be an improvement. I'm not going to drink over it. Believe me, I feel so FREE to have AL not even be an option. If this had been 3 years ago and she had delivered that kind of news....that would have been the nod for me to jump into a bottle of scotch.

Dill- I loved your description of walking with Mr. D....stopping by a babbling brook and munching on watercress. It made me smile. I could absolutely picture you two walking with your dogs....as I just got back from walking on one of the scenic roads near here. I passed the lovely "farm" where Darryl Hannah used to spend her childhood summers. The springs in this part of our county flow through people's property and there is a spring on the "farm" and yes, I did see watercress. Serendipitous, non? As far as the painting, my painter was doing some touch up work on the baseboards and trim. Now I've decided I want my bedroom painted as well. Right now....it is mauve (I know....barf!). The color didn't bother me when I moved in here 10 years ago, and it did blend in well with my bedroom set, but now I am sick of it and want a soft egg-nog color (butter cream/light gold). I couldn't pain my way out of a paper bag, Dill....good thing Mr. Dill is talented and doesn't mind doing it.

Lav, congratulations on the 2 lb weight loss.:goodjob: We will now call you LAV-VA-VOOM! I loved the pic of Maxie on the Daily thread. She is beautiful....I bet she's wonderful company....kind and gentle....she looks so soft, too.

G-You are coming out with an album this year? That's great! You are so talented andI look forward to being able to see you live, in color! My birthday's coming up, G. Just in case you are composing a song for me.

Chill-please tell us about the application....is it for a job? Also, I am not actively watching the Super Bowl right now...but the commercials are fantastic....and I just saw David Beckham doing an underwear commercial. Bye Bye, Colin Firth!:H

Big hello and good evening to everyone else. I must get back to studying.

                Have a great AF evening!

                  Evening all!

Rusty-that Beckham commercial was da bomb!! Got this 55 yo heart racing let me tell ya!!

Mr. G-can't wait to hear your new album!!

Dill-I too loved the visual of you and mr. dill and the pups walking in the quiet woods.

Chill-can't wait to hear more about your options and the app!!

lav-congrats on the 2lb loss! That is fab!!

LBH-love when you pop in! Wish you you would pop in more!!

Cyn-safe travels my friend!! It's easy to finish projects when you only do them at class LOL!! I could be really productive if i were to work on them at home! That belly band took 4 hours!!

Watching the Superbowl and nursing yet another nasty cold! I hate hate hate feeling this way! Seems to be a pattern now-work at the NH on Thursday, get sick on Sat. Bah.

Is there anyone who knows how to contact Dew outside of MWO? I have this recurring thought that she has ended up in hospital and can't let us know what is going on. Fellow Scots? Are you able to track her down?

I have no way of contacting Dew other than through a PM. I hope she's ok....her immune system is particularly vulnerable because of her cancer treatment. Dew, we're all thinking of you. And you're sick again, too....gosh....I know universities and nursing homes are germfests....I think your job-related stress caused your immune system to be weakened...have you tried Zycam? I was looking at your beautiful table runners that you made for your Cape Cod friends, and I have decided those runners would look much better on MY dining room table.:H Back to the Super Bowl....who cares about the game....just give me David Beckham.:H

I saw that commercial too with YB sitting here :H :H
                      I'll say no more.......

I think my grandson has moved in - he's staying over again tonight
Now if I can just teach a 3 year old how to cut grass this summer for me :H
Or maybe someone could teach Maxie to use the tractor.......

Rusty, think positive thoughts about yuor neck. Have you given any thought to accupuncture?
My BIL has had a lifetime of back pain, 2 major surgeries, etc. He is now depending on accupuncture to keep him on his feet - seriously.

papmom, nursing homes are germ fests! I used to depend on lots of Vitamin C to keep me going. You do eventually build up immunity to all that funk if you work around sick people long enough. You need to be extra careful with your tendency for bronchitis.

Dill, I really used to enjoy taking nature walks with my husband. Unfortunately that seems like a lifetime ago. Glad you still have that!

Wondering about Dewdrop too. Hope she checks in soon.

OK, wishing y'all a good night!

                        Good morning everyone

They are having terrible weather in Scotland/Northern England, snow etc. maybe our Dew has no coverage. I hope that is the case. We are thinking of you Dew, if you do get a chance to checkin let us know how you are.

Papmom - listen to nurse Lav, build up that immune system. I am a firm believer that exercise helps. Since I started walking, I dont have near as many colds.

Dew - your walk sounded wonderful. We walk in the woods every morning and I have to say it does my heart good.

Rusty - your posts always make my laugh, good luck with the painting and your PT.

Lav - well done on the 2lb weight loss. Poor YB, does he know he is about to loose his role? I think it is wonderful to read about your relationship with EB and you know you will never feel it until he is able to mow your lawn, they grow up so fast. Loved the picture of Maxie by the way.

Big hello to everyone else and hope you all have a wonderful AF week.

AAACK!! Up at 4:30 this morning-couldn't breathe through my nose!

Cyn-if you are reading, could you PM me about that oil of oregano for immune build up? where to get it, dosage, when to take it etc.

Lav-you have something too that you take to build up the immune system. What was it again? Elderberry or something like that?

R59-You are so right about the exercise. My coworker and I started walking at lunch 2 weeks ago after school started. I'm so weak all I can manage is about 10 min and even then I huff and puff. But baby steps.

I was thinking this morning that these 3 episodes of illness all manifested themselves first on a Saturday and that I had worked at the NH on the preceding Thursday nite. Me thinks there is a connection, no?

Was awake with 3:30 to go in the 4th quarter last nite-Pats up by 3. next thing I know there is less than 2 min left and the score is 22-18 Giants!! Didn't even know it was possible to fall asleep for only 1 minute LOL!! I assume the giants won-haven't watched the news yet. They deserve it. I've never seen so many Pop Warner mistakes by the Pats in my life!! It was almost as if they threw the game. Seriously.

Rusty-if you like the table runners, wait until you see the tote bags! I'm so excited to start the one for my neice on Tues.

Well, i'll be staying home today. Using up my sick time at an alarming rate. Can't even work from home as there is nothing to work on!!

Going to try to go back to sleep now-zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

It is interesting sometimes to think about where you end up and what you thought you wanted to do/be when you started out, say in high school or college, or even in gradeschool. As a child all I wanted when I grew up was to own horses. Well, come to think of it, I wanted to be a horse!:H In high school I just wanted to marry my steady boyfriend and have a family, and a secreterial job. When I got to college, thanks to my parent's strong persuasion (the HS boyfriend was not a stellar human being, BTW) I just wanted in general "to work with people". Vague, I know.

I have been worrying about Dew, too, but have no contact info. And where has Cassia been? Am I missing something? Did she go off on a trip? SPED, come back!!!

papmom, do you use a room humidifier? I do & it helps a lot (even though I have a whole house humidifier running). EB has a cold right now too so I'm hearing a lot of sniffling.
I have taken Echinacea in the past for immunity - I believe it works

Thinking of you Dew, chill & others in cold, snowy areas.

Good Morning Fabulous Ones. A quick check in before I zip out to exercise and then to a memorial service for a very cool old man. He was ancient and very funny and had everything that mattered in fine form until he died, the service should be a happy one in spite of people missing him. Rusty you are again my hero for not drinking over your neck pain, I am learning this day by day as pain and associated fear, insomnia, and restriction are so linked by me with reaching for a shot of booze. I am actually glad that I am having some chronic pain right now as it gives me the opportunity to learn other, better things before it goes away. There will always be this sort of challenge, the old fellow who died would not have lived long and well if he had hit the bottle over every blow to his loss of egoic youth and vanity! Love, Ladybird.
