thanks for all your support - another lapse

thanks everyone who replied to my post for giving me your time and sharing a lot of your own personal experiences- ll incredibly supportive and helfpul..
I think I need to buy the book.
I lapsed - I had almost thought about moderate drinking as an option for last night.
Well i had 3 big glasses of wine and 4 shots of vodka - 11 units!
Moderation is not going to work for me at the moment.

I noticed a trigger though I was feeling, anxious out of it and nervous.there was also someone there in the group who i don't like - very manipulative attention seeking female who really makes me wary and feel insecure.

so i drink to give me confidence - think i knew that anyway but it massively cristallised.
anyway back on abstinence today - modweration just deos not work for me at the moment - I hope it will someday but not right now.

The book will help - I encourage you to but it!

The fact that you are even trying puts you so far ahead of the people who won't even admit they have a problem. I'm like you in that I would love to moderate but am not sure that I can and am frankly scared to try!

Last night I was on my way home from dinner and those old thoughts snuck into my mind - stop at the local store and grab a pint..... Then, I decided that I would rather head home and check out the MYO group instead. Spent some time chatting and felt much better (especially this morning).

Keep at it - I know you can do it.

If we don't sink into self-pity, we can learn something from every lapse, Bear. It sounds like you are learning. Keep on trying!

      All the best,

        Bear,
Welcome back to the ranch!!! You can climb on that horse again and ride it for a long time. I was hit smack in the face on realized moderation does not work for me. I envy people who can have one or two drinks and call it a night. Bear, I have been in social settings as well, especially when the liquor is flowing like a river....
I would be anxious and nervous, and end of drinking almost to the point of being carried out. Not a pretty site in a major corporate setting. Be with people who you feel secure and confident with.
Allthete, I am with you, chatting with mwo friends anything to think about not having the temptation of a drink works.
        Good day to all....

Don't let your insecurities get the best of you. Most 'attention seeking females' are EXTREMELY insecure themselves. If they honestly felt good about themselves they wouldn't NEED to attract the attention upon themselves.

Next time when you see someone who is acting that way, tell yourself "she must be really insecure - I pity her"

And hop back on that saddle again. You are worth it!
