Free and Fit February - Week 2

Good evening all - not much energy to write tonight - I actually took notes as I read through things this morning, I'll have to use those when I can write more.

Chill - your pathway sounds so right, good for you for moving forward. RE: furniture, you may remember that I sold much of our furniture before we came east, knowing that we could not use much of it. Some things were easy, some things were difficult (my beloved dining room table that had hosted so many happy moments), and I didn't get anything in the galaxy close to what I had paid for things. But in the end, it really is all just stuff, and can really weigh you down. Being out east where there are so many antique shops, I see that furniture was meant to be passed on to others - I actually 'visited' my dining room table at the neighbor's house who purchased it - it looked fabulous there (it had traded up in surroundings), and I realized that it was meant to be. Go ahead - let them go - more pieces await you in the future --

Star - I'm concerned about you -- it seems like you have been down for a while, I hope you are OK.

PMom - the Oil of Oregano that I like is made by Gaia - if you have a Whole Foods around, they carry it. At any rate, take the pill form, not the oil directly (nasty) and always with food, as it is very strong. Just 1 pill a day, when you feel like something's coming on. 2 if you're really sliding. I also like a combo of Echinacea and Goldenseal (anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties). Again, don't take as a regular thing, just if you are feeling 'off'. I think the Elderflower stuff maybe can be taken more regularly, not sure... Good luck, you just need to get a leg up on all of this. Hope you feel better soon.

Dill - I saw 'Buddha's Brain' at a bookstore in Minneapolis in December, and almost bought it. It looked really interesting, relating how meditation literally changes the physical matter of the brain -almost like it 'calms' it down. It will be a great companion for the 'Insight' book that I'm reading (all 2 paragraphs that I get in before the book falls out of my hands).

Will write more tomorrow, just feel so leaden today...take care all...

Free and Fit February - Week 2

Finally a minute to say Hello

Busy, busy day with three grandkids, my daughter, activities, cooking, baking, etc.
My daughter (and Lily) are spending an extra unplanned night. Apparently she's come down with a stomach virus & doesn't want to drive home - don't blame her

Buddha's Brain is a great book - get it!!!
I get Rick Hanson's emails & they are great too. I have the book on my Kindle of course!

Gotta run, hello to all & have a great night!

Free and Fit February - Week 2

Good Evening February Fit and Free Ones,

Dew-thanks for checking in....I hope you feel better soon!

Lav and Rustop...congratulations on the weight loss!:goodjob:

Kaslo-welcome....it's great to see you here. We are a very positive thread.....above all, we are compassionate people. I think you fit in here just great!

Cyn-glad you made it home safely. Again, my condolences for your loss.

Chill-I feel so badly that you have to sell your beautiful pieces....I don't know what to say...you certainly take things in stride.

Thanks to all of you who asked about my neck. I think the PT is finally working! 2 whole days without pain. Lav, I think you mentioned acupuncture.....it's funny....my investments guy was just here and he recommended the same things.

My AF friends....I have developed a whole new respect and admiration for firemen. In the middle of the night on Tuesday, a fire broke out in one of the buildings in my condo complex that is just down the hill from me. I slept through the sirens of 15 firetrucks and 5 EMT units that responded. Over 30 firemen fought the blaze while the EMT units provided water and nutrition for the firemen, trying to keep them hydrated during the night. Fortunately, none of the 4 unit owners in that building were home. Those firemen worked tirelessly to contain the fire and keep it from spreading to the woods or the other surrounding buildings. Earlier today, the fire reignited, and again, the fire department was here in no time. We are so grateful to them. They don't know how the fire started yet but the Crime Scene Unit was here again today. The building is being demolished and I just feel so lucky to be alive.

Well, must get back to studying. Wishing all my friends here a wonderful AF night!

OMG Rusty!! How absolutely horrifying to wake up to!! I'm so relieved your building wasn't affected but still. Good news about your neck too. PT can do wonders sometimes!!

Cyn-welcome back. I'm sure that was a very draining trip. Don't worry about catching up.

          Star-spring is coming-it really is!!

Chill-so glad the reiki is staying with you and having an effect on your wellbing.

Dill-thanks for the link-will look at it this weekend

Sooty-no better gift than being fully present for your kids. almost daily I give thanks that I can be called upon by anyone at anytime and will be up for the task. I may be tired but I won't be hungover or still drunk. Pure bliss!

Rustop-its been such a great experience watching your girls grow and mature over the last year! They are wonderful!!

Well, NH tonite and the residents were off the wall! This must have been one powerful full moon this week. My 2 most laidback residents were on another planet with full blown paranoia. My one unpredictable resident was more so and I couldn't keep her in the room past 10 min. My oh my oh my. Hope Sunday is a bit better. Hope I don't get sick again on Sat!!

My book arrived today: Control Unleashed by Leslie McDevitt. Can't wait to read it. And, I've hooked up with a trainer who will work privately with us. She's actually a classmate in agility so she knows me and DD. Can't wait to get started!!

Snow being predicted for Sat. its going back and forth as to what part of the state is getting the most. I refuse to listen until tomorrow nite!!

            Evening All!!

Rusty-I'm so glad you are ok and that your neck is feeling better!! I agree, firemen/women are real heroes!! And WOW...you must be a VERY sound sleeper!! LOL!!

Pap3--I'm so glad you found someone to come and work one on one with you and DD! That's awesome!! Sorry tonight at work was a bit hectic...this week at work has been that way...I'd fill you all in, but I'm afraid it would take way to long to catch you all up to speed...we'll just say SSDD!! LOL!!

Lav--Sounds like they needed a little more TLC from Mima (that's not right is it???) I can't remember that cute name they call you?!? ((Sigh)) I'm getting old...

Dill--Tonight my mom and I went to the film/movie The Artist...I had no idea what it was about before I went (if it's not on Nickelodeon or Disney, I probably haven't heard of it)...anyway...not AT ALL what I was expecting, but I guess it's up for a bunch of Academy Awards! Anyway....I'm not sure why I think this but...I think it's a film you may really like...I may be totally wrong...my mom and I thought it was very, very well done.

Chill--I'm not sure when I will hear back (or if I'll hear back) from that School District...maybe in the next week or two, I have no idea..they didn't have a closing date, which is kind of odd. The town is like 80-90 miles from here...so not far at all...but it's in such a better location, which may sound weird but it's closer to Minneapolis, to Sioux Falls...everything from where I'm at!! When do you think you will hear about your job??

Star--Hang in there, hon...we're in the home stretch now...Spring is so close!!! :l

Kelso--Welcome Back....ohhh, what an exciting celebration coming up!!! 1 year...you should be so proud...such an awesome accomplishment!!!:goodjob:

Cyn--Take care, rest lots, and feel better soon!!!:l That goes for you too Dew!!

LBH--Always wonderful to see you and read your wonderful posts!!

Rustop-Glad your girls are both doing so well and are having fun too!! That's super!! I'd LOVE to travel to Ireland someday...I hope she has a blast (I mean debates well and learns a lot!) LOL!!

Sooty--ooooh redecorating...how fun--I mean, that is if you are good at and you know what you are doing!! I on the other hand, do not!! I believe I've mentioned that I have STILL NOT finished painting the room I started in June right?? Yeah, I'm a horrible mess over here folks!! LOL!! You'll have to post pix of your finished work!

Cass--Glad you checked in too and way to go on not giving in to those naughty boys trying to tempt you!! LOL!! You are women, hear you roar!!! LOL!!!

            Sped--Please check in...I miss you!!:upset:

Time to head for bed...if I missed anyone tonight, I'm so, so sorry...I tried super hard to get everyone...blaming it once again on old age!! Oh Hey G--always glad to see you when you stop on by too!!
            Good Night All!
            SD--Gosh, grab a sandwich, huh??!?

Free and Fit February - Week 2

              Good morning everyone

First morning off but up early as usual. Daughter has a driving lesson and I want to do my walk beforehand.

Rusty - wow, so glad they managed to get the fire under control. Firemen are indeed hero's. Glad also that you are getting some relief with your neck. When are your exams?

Cyn - welcome back and condolences.

Star - sorry that you are feeling down. As somebody else said, Spring is just around the corner and hopefully things will pick up. Do you take any supplements as a matter of interest?

Sooty - it is a great feeling being able to drive anywhere/anytime. Good luck with the decorating. It is nearly 9 years since we did a huge demolition job and I have a phobia about mess ever since. (We lived on a building site for 5 months, never again).

Dill - thanks for the book recommendation. I must download on my kindle.

Papmom - glad you got your book and a new trainer, looks like you got that end sorted. Keep taking the vitamins etc. to fight those nasty bugs.

Lav - you obviously are a wonderful Mom/Grandmom when you kids want to spend so much time around you. My MIL's family stayed away for years at a time, with good reason I might add and she ended up a very sad lonely old woman. Maybe not very christian of me to say but sometimes we reap what we sow!!

Chill - You sound in a better place, the reki seems to be helping. I am sure you also feel better having a plan in place.

SD - fingers crossed it all works out with the job. I have read a lot about the Artist but doubt if hubby will come to see it with me. Will have to wait til its out on dvd.

LBH - have you gotten your seeds all sorted?

Shout out for Shelly. We are all here for you if you are struggling. Please come back and let us support you.

Kaslo :welcome: This is indeed a wonderful thread. You get book recommendations, film reviews, nutritional advice, just about any type of advice you seek. We are all fighting the demon Al and are there to support each other but he has not taken over our lives.

Apart from the driving lesson and taking her to the horse I have nothing else planned for today. Will take it as it comes.

              Have a great week-end everyone.

              Rustop

Free and Fit February - Week 2

Good morning all - happy beginning of the end of the week --

This moon does indeed seem special. She (thanks, Chill for the reminder of La Lune) showed herself on the horizon as I drove east on Sunday evening, appearing like a watermark in the sky that slowly became more full and solid and bright. Then I saw her from the air, I felt like I was joining her in the sky. Then she took my breath away a couple of mornings ago, silhouetted in the doorway in the early morning as I let the pups out. Then she was golden, hanging in a violet sky. Happy to be unhung so I can 'see' things.

Dew - pneumonia? Good gracious, please do be careful - sending you lots of healing thoughts.
Kaslo - congrats on your upcoming 1 year, and I look forward to seeing some more pics.
Mr G - did I miss an announcement of a CD coming out? Can't wait.
Hey Rusty - seems like a special 'anniversary' song should be coming your way - did I miss the date?
The birds are feeding frantically this morning - PMom, did you say a storm is headed this way? I really should turn on the radio once in a while...

Hope all have a good end to the week --

Hey Cyn-I think it will miss you. Seems to be more coastal but keep an eye out just in case. BTW-I couldn't find the oregano because I only had the energy Tuesnite to go to CVS but I bought Vit C and Echinacea. Have been taking religiously since then.

SD-hope you hear from the district soon!!

Rustop-an open ended day! Love those!

                  OK, late for work already!!

                    Good afternoon Fit Friends!

Kids & grandkids have all gone home. Just me here with a ton of sticky fingerprints & cookie crumbs to deal with :H

Rustop, I love that my kids come willingly & I don't have to beg for their attention. I am grateful to have the access to the grandkids too. All of this would be impossible if I was still pickling myself in Chardonnay. Hope your day is going well!

cyn, the moon really was something else this week!
There is a coating to 2" of snow predicted tomorrow around here. My daffs are up 4-5", hope they don't mind.

                            Hey all,
Just want to say hello. Relapsed once again but now 10 days sober. Back to AA and getting lots of support.
Hiking in the mountains this morning, 4 miles up and 4 down. Went with a friend from my AA home group, a Navajo man. On top of the mountain, with mist all around the peaks, he prayed and chanted in Navajo. Then we hustled down and had had the most wonderful lunch (well deserved!).
Feeling so grateful to my resilient body and spirit.
Love to all, have missed the bunch of you.
